Rules for Making Ionic CompoundsUse the oxidation # of element.

For all representative elements, group # determines oxidation #. Group 1 = 1+Group 2=2+, Gp 3=3+, Gp 6=2-, Gp 7=1-

EXAMPLE: Write the correct formula with the following 2 elements: Ca & Cl
