1. This Standard establishes the main types, design elements and dimensions of welded joints made from steels, and also alloys on iron to nickel and nickel bases, manufactured by gas to shielded arc welding.
This Standard does not establish the main types, design elements and dimensions of welded joints for steel pipelines in accordance with GOST 16037-80.
2. The following designations of welding methods are accepted in this Standard: ИН - in inert gases, with aid of non to consumable electrode without filler metal; ИНп - in inert gases, with aid of non to consumable electrode with filler metal; ИП - in inert gases and their mixtures with carbonic gas and oxygen, with aid of consumable electrode; УП - in carbonic gas and its mixture with oxygen, with aid of consumable electrode. 3. The main types of welded joints shall correspond to those specified in tab. 1.

4. Design elements of welded joints, their dimensions and maximum deviations for them shall correspond
to those specified in tabs. 2 to 47. Besides the specified ways of welding, it is allowed to apply other ways of arc welding in shielding gases.

for filling of beveled edges, the values of design elements of welded joint shall be chosen according to the main way of welding. And in this case the way of welding shall be designated as a fraction, whose numerator is the designation of the way of welding of a weld root, and denominator is the designation of the main way of welding.

7. Butt-joint welding of parts with unequal thicknesses, when the thickness difference does not exceed the
values specified in tab. 48, shall be executed in the same way as for parts with identical thickness; design elements of prepared edges and dimensions of a weld shall be chosen by the greater thickness.

Inclination of a weld surface (fig. 1) is allowed to provide the smooth transition from one part to another. When the thickness difference of welded parts exceeds the values specified in tab. 48, then the part with
greater thickness s1 shall be beveled on one or two sides to the thickness of the thin part s as it is specified in figs. 2 and 3. And in this case the design elements of prepared edges and dimensions of a weld shall be chosen by the smaller thickness.

8. The dimension and maximum deviations of fillet weld leg K and К1 shall be established during designing. And in this case the dimension of a fillet weld leg shall be of no more than 3 mm for the parts up to 3 mm thick inclusive and 1.2 of the thickness of more thin part when welding the parts over 3 mm thick. Maximum deviations of the dimension of a fillet weld leg from the nominal value are specified in Appendix 4.

mm. And in this case the concavity shall not result in reduction of leg value Кп (fig. 4), established during designing.

N o t e . Fillet weld leg Кп is the leg of the greatest rectangular triangle inscribed in external part of the fillet weld. In case of symmetric weld any of equal legs may be accepted as leg Кп, and in case of asymmetrical weld the smaller one shall be accepted as leg Кп.

Displacement of edges in relation to each other is allowed before welding in amount of no more than: 0.2 s mm - for parts up to 4 mm thick; 0.1s+0.5 mm - for parts of 5 to 25 mm thick; 3 mm - for parts of 25 to 50 mm thick; 0.045+1.0 mm - for parts of 50 to 100 mm thick; 0.01s+4.0 mm, but no more than 6 mm - for parts more than 100 mm thick. 13. When welding in carbonic gas with aid of electrode wire of 0.8 to 1.4 mm in diameter it is allowed to
apply the main types of welded joints and their design elements in accordance with GOST 5264 to 80. 14. The minimal values of fillet weld legs are specified in Appendix 1. 15. When using the welding in carbonic gas instead of manual arc welding the leg of designed fillet weld
may be reduced to the values specified in Appendix 2. 16. When welding in carbonic gas with aid of electrode wire providing the obtaining of a weld metal with
higher ultimate strength, than that of a basic metal, the leg of designed fillet weld may be reduced to the values specified in Appendix 3.

17. In butt, tee-butt and fillet joints more than 16 mm thick, executed in assembly conditions, it is allowed
to increase the nominal value of dimension b up to 4 mm. And in this case the weld width е, е1 may be accordingly increased.
18. The increase of weld dimensions up to 30 % of the nominal value is allowed in places of overlapping of welds and in places of correction of defects.
19. During preparation of edges with application of manual tools the maximum deviations of beveling angle of edges may be increased up to ±5°. And in this case the weld width е, е1 may be accordingly changed.
