From the East Let me share this article as I have found it very inspiring. Welcoming our New Brothers by Bruce R. Galloway, Grand Master, as published from California Freemason Magazine. When speaking of Freemasonry, we often say that we make good men better. For hundreds of years, this statement has rung true. We have welcomed men with a genuine desire to improve themselves and their communities, and with the support of Freemasonry, they have. Our history books and memories contain countless examples. As today’s stewards of Freemasonry, it is our responsibility to ensure that this tradition endures. In the same way that we envision future members’ development, we must consider the evolution of our lodges and fraternity. The brothers we welcome must be good men who will complement our lodge and Freemasonry those who bring diversity, fresh perspectives, insight, and enthusiasm; who are as prepared to make a lasting impact in our lives as we are to make in theirs. We should know each prospect, and he should know us, long before an application is extended. We should understand why he wants to be a Mason, and he should be familiar with Freemasonry and the culture of our lodge. We can accomplish this by warmly welcoming prospects; by introducing them to our members and families; by encouraging and valuing their participation in lodge activities. In other words, we must develop a friend whom we will be excited to call a brother: a brother who will certainly become a friend. Please note the assign potluck to bring, it is according to the first letter of your Last Name as listed below. Welcoming our New Brothers by

Bruce R. Galloway, Grand Master,

as published from California

Freemason Magazine.

“When speaking of Freemasonry,

we often say that we make good

men better. For hundreds of years,

this statement has rung true. We

genuine desire to improve themselves and their communities, and with

the support of Freemasonry, they have. Our history books and memories

As today’s stewards of Freemasonry, it is our responsibility to ensure

that this tradition endures. In the same way that we envision future

members’ development, we must consider the evolution of our lodges

and fraternity. The brothers we welcome must be good men who will

complement our lodge and Freemasonry — those who bring diversity,

fresh perspectives, insight, and enthusiasm; who are as prepared to make

a lasting impact in our lives as we are to make in theirs.

SOUTH WEST LODGE TRESTLEBOARD DECEMBER 2017 PAGE 2 OF 4

From the West Last month Stated Meeting, the members of our Lodge have bestowed upon me the most

precious gift within their power; elected me to the station in the East as Worshipful Master. With

rare exceptions, no higher honor can come to any man, "He that is Master must serve, said by a

17th century poet and these six simple words spell out the rule and guide to success for the Master

of a Masonic Lodge.” “Serve" is the keynote; but to serve effectively requires a solid back ground

of thorough preparation. If there is a secret to a successful year in the East, it lies in the planning

thereof. My achievement as a Master will depend almost entirely upon preparations made before

the first rap of my gavel in the East. It is my great honor and humbled to be elected as Master of

South West Lodge No.283 for 2018 Masonic year. Thank you for having the confidence in me to

lead our Lodge for the ensuing year,

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to each of you, whom over the years

have taken the time to mentor, guide, support and instructed me on all things about Masonry. And with the guidance of the

Almighty I will sit in the East prepared under the initial of his name.

In a very short while, South West Lodge will be having its one hundred thirty first Installation of Officers on

December 16th, 2017 Saturday at 4:30PM. Everyone is cordially invited and hoping to see you all. One week before the

installation date, we will be very busy in preparing and finalizing the 2018 Installation of Officers, please be advise we will

be asking volunteers, working party as well as to assign their task before and during the Installation.

Also, I will be holding a meeting with all 2018 Officers which will be held in South West Lodge on December 20th

Wednesday at the Conference Room at 7:30pm.

Reminder in our December 7th Stated Meeting is a potluck, please check your names which food you are assigned

to bring and lastly, I would like to congratulate all our candidates and newly raised Master Mason, the question is when did

you first become a Mason? Your answer was in your Heart! Your travel begins in your heart.

In behalf of South West Lodge 2018 Officers we wish you all the best and Happy Holidays to all!!

On the Level, Raymund Madriaga, Senior Warden

From the South I like to extend my sincerest and warmest HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE. We

plan to travel in unison when we eventually arrive at our destined ports and indulge in Philanthropic work…while sight-seeing in the process.

While it is hard to be away from our family and friends, it is a joy to know that I can still immerse myself in the comradery of Brotherly Love right here aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. May the Great Architect of the Universe Bless us ALL..From the Brethren of the USS Theodore Roosevelt Travelers Goup…
