From the Desk of Mrs. Jacqueline Johnson: Great things are happening at our Memorial City School and we are proud to deliver to you excellence in academics and excellence in creating a positive school climate. We ended our month on Friday with “Houses” which is a school wide monthly program that has our senior students acting as leaders for grades K to 6 students. Positive character traits such as responsibility, courage and trustworthiness are celebrated with students winning awards and with activities planned to focus on these traits. We have student leaders, a media crew, photographers, a set up crew and student MCs who help to run the program. All of the students in our school take part and we are developing great leadership skills in our senior students. Next House Day is on Monday, November 28 at 1:30. Please consider joining us for this great program at Memorial City. We also look forward to meeting families on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4 for Progress Report Interviews. Middle School interviews for grade 6/7 to grade 8 will be held in the auditorium from 3:30 until 6:00 and on Friday morning. There are both students and staff at Memorial who have allergies to nuts and products containing nuts. Some of these allergies are serious enough to be life threatening. These severe allergies can lead to anaphylaxis. To make the school environment as safe as possible, we ask that no products containing nuts be sent to the school. This in-cludes not only snacks to be shared with the whole class, but also private snacks and lunches. Please read the la-bels of store bought products as many contain nuts as ingredients or in trace amounts.

We do not claim that Memorial is a “nut free” school, as we cannot guarantee that products never enter the building. We do however call ourselves a “nut safe” school as we endeavour to monitor all food in the building.

Memorial School is also a scent fee zone due to allergies. Please help us keep the air we share with staff and stu-dents healthy and fragrance free. Please do not wear perfume, cologne, aftershave and other fragrances.

MEMORIAL IS A NUT SAFE AND FRAGRANCE FREE SCHOOL

Do you have any building materials at home? Mrs. Smith and Memorial School Building Club are looking for any Lego, Lincoln logs, Kinex or other building toy that you would be willing to donate to our school. Please send anything you are willing to donate to our school. Thank you!

WE day in Toronto: Thank you to Mrs. Del Gobbo and

Mrs. Friesen who headed to Toronto with a group of student lead-ers. They headed to Toronto for the student leadership day. Stu-dents were inspired to change the world and to take on responsi-bility for social justice initiatives. Lucky kids were privileged to see a performance by Gord Downey of the Tragically Hip who spoke (and performed) in support of making the world a better place.

Thank you to School Coun-cil who used fundraised dollars

to support our school. Thank
