Wherever products are exhibited or
services are offered, presentation plays a
decisive part. A convincing use of form,
conclusive colour systems and high-quality
materials are required.
This is why the design of the world of
shopping and pleasure is the focal point
of this brochure. It shows the many
different aspects of architectural ceramics
and their specific applications. Architects
and planners gain an insight into the
current colour worlds and are presented
with interior and exterior views of
projects which were realized using the
product lines of Agrob Buchtal.

It attracts attention and customers, and it
helps to motivate personnel. Shopping
becomes a pleasure, one can relax and
enjoy the atmosphere; employees become
motivated and committed.
Architectural ceramics from Agrob Buchtal
are ideal for the design of up-to-date
consumer and business worlds. Numerous
sizes, diverse surfaces and harmonious
colours offer immense design scope.
In addition to the aesthetic properties,
the Agrob Buchtal products fulfill functional
roles. No matter whether in shopping
arcades, showrooms, restaurants or re-
ception areas – the products are robust.

PresentationFor anyone who wants to attract the
attention of demanding consumers, a
convincing design is a precondition to
ensuring a positive ambience. Modern,
attractive presentation results from the
application of a variety of building materials
in combination. Wood, concrete, steel,
glass and ceramics.
The tile series of Agrob Buchtal provide a
basis for distinctive presentation. The wall
and floor tiles comply with contemporary
architectural style. The products highlight
rather than determine the architectural
design thereby contributing to a harmo-
nious setting.

Shopping Worlds
A shopping arcade is more than just a
simple row of individual shops: It is a
staged world full of surprises and emotions.
Unusual shop concepts create curiosity.
Fashion boutiques, restaurants, chemist’s
shops or bars make a variety of impres-
sions. Success is determined by combining
the individual concepts in one global con-
cept.
The tile series from Agrob Buchtal have
been specially developed for use in archi-
tecturally demanding projects. The sys-
tematically matching colours, surfaces
and sizes, ensure harmonious transitions
between the most diverse areas. Walls
and floors can be decoratively unified –
both in and outdoor.

Showrooms and Museums
Wherever consumer goods, fashion or
works of art are exhibited, an appropriate
presentation is required. Materials for use
on walls and floors need to be attractive
and robust showing little signs of the
wear and tear of pedestrian and vehicle
traffic.
The various series of Agrob Buchtal
combine clear aesthetics with high
robustness. Using the variety of surfaces
and sizes, the most diverse functional
areas can be joined together to form a
design unity.
In addition, the wide range of products
offers unlimited creative possibilities.
Colours can be matched harmoniously
creating new combinations in the form of
patterns such as stripes, chequered or
tone in tone patterns or contrasting
colours.

Room Design
The functional and reduced architecture
of the modern age requires materials
which underline and discreetly emphasize
this style.
The series from the product segment
Public Life satisfy these requirements.
Specially developed for demanding
architectural areas of application, the
products combine design and functional
properties.
Together with the integrally coloured tile
body, the sophisticated surface design of
the tiles generates an attractive texture.
At the same time, the tile is extremely
hard-wearing and dirt-repelling. Nature
provided the inspiration for the design.
All colours are derived from authentic,
natural surfaces.

Eating and DrinkingThe modern world of commerce and ser-
vices of course also includes catering. No
matter whether espresso shop, pizzeria or
sushi bar – the offers are as diverse as the
preferences of the customers. However,
architectural design is just as important as
the menu.
Tiles from Agrob Buchtal cover most
different styles – from noble-rustic to
Japanese-puristic. Each series combines a
sophisticated design with superior product
characteristics such as robustness and
particularly easy care. The surfaces are
resistant to fats and fruit acids. Staining
liquids such as coffee or red wine also can
be removed without any problems.

Restaurants and Bars
Good taste can be seen in each. This
applies not only to a seven-course meal
but also to the wall and floor coverings in
restaurants or bars.
With a wide variety of colours, surfaces
and special products, the Agrob Buchtal
range offers a multitude of possibilities for
individual designs. The segment Public
Life permits the realization of expressive
settings, which underline the specific
gastronomic concept. Calibrated large-size
tiles convey an impression of spaciousness
and exclusiveness.
The series of the segment Natur Ambiente
are characterized by an honest, authentic
expressiveness. These products have
proven their durability and timelessness
over decades and can be used for interior
and exterior areas thereby enabling a
universal concept to be realized.

Kitchens
No matter whether in the professional
kitchen of a restaurant, in the canteen of
a big business enterprise or in the corner
kitchen of an office – uncompromising
hygiene and functionality are the most
important requirements in all areas where
meals and drinks are prepared.
The series of the segments Tech + Design
or Plural System, for example, are suitable
for these areas. They are not only slip-re-
sistant, but also extremely stress-resistant
and robust. In addition, the profiles of the
tiles permit vehicles to roll without vibra-
tions and almost silently. In this way, the
meals and the drinks remain in the dishes
and glasses on the trolley, and the serving
and clearing of the table by the personnel
takes place without disagreeable noise.
Agrob Buchtal offers an ideal problem so-
lution also for the design of kitchens: The
appliances are placed on small pedestals
provided with cove skirtings all round (see
photo on the right). This facilitates the
cleaning of the area between wall and
floor.
In the kitchen, the special Protecta surface
upgrading of Agrob Buchtal for unglazed
tiles is particularly advantageous. This
ceramic coating is applied during produc-
tion creating a ceramic bond between
surface and body of the tile and sealing
the micropores which otherwise remain
open in unglazed products. The procedure
prevents the penetration of staining
substances thereby ensuring attractive
longevity.

ServicesFigures, data and profits are what counts
in the working world? That’s right. But in
an attractive environment, everything
seems much easier. It is incontestable that
a beautiful ambience improves the work-
ing atmosphere, increases the employees’
willingness to work and intensifies their
commitment. These are clear arguments
for investing in the appropriate materials
from the start during the planning of
office and service buildings. The tile series
from Agrob Buchtal meet this requirement
in two respects: aesthetic appearance and
functionality.

The first impression is decisive. This also
applies to office buildings. For this reason
the facade systems play an important role
within the Agrob Buchtal product range.
The rear-ventilated facade systems are
aesthetically attractive and technically
functional. Insulating materials can be
placed in the hollow space behind the
ceramic cladding to reduce heat loss
thereby helping to maintain a constant
temperature in the building regardless of
outside climatic conditions.
The Hydrotect coating * of the ceramic
surface has proven itself invaluable. The
hydrophilic surface helps decompose
algae, fungi and moss and rainwater
flushes dirt and residue down the surface
thereby creating a low maintenance, self-
washing cladding. Maintenance and
cleaning costs are significantly reduced.
Products are available in a variety of sizes,
surfaces and colours providing immense
design scope. Bespoke manufacture is
also possible.

Reception Areas
From the courtyard in front of the
administration building via the foyer
through to the individual working areas:
The tile series from Agrob Buchtal effective-
ly contribute to a clear architectural
concept which is reflected in all parts of
the building. They are also ideal for
underlining the Corporate Identity.
The high-quality floor tiles in representative
large sizes ensure an elegant presentation
in reception and entrance areas. The
corresponding series can also be combined
with other ranges. In this way, the design
concept can be systematically continued
in adjoining functional areas such as
sanitary rooms, toilets or changing rooms.

Water
Dirt
Hydrotect
Hydrotect proves valuable in all areas
where utmost hygiene is required. The
surface coating for wall and floor tiles offers
three important advantages:
• it has an antibacterial effect *
• it is extremely easy to clean
• it eliminates disagreeable odours
The effects are based on the principle of
photocatalysis. The catalyst, titanium
oxide, is fired into the glaze and facilitates
a reaction between light, oxygen and hu-
midity. In this process, oxygen molecules
become activated decomposing bacteria,
fungi, algae and moss.
Hydrotect-coated tile surfaces are hy-
drophilic: as opposed to repelling water,
the reaction relieves surface tension
thereby inhibiting the creation of globules
of water and transforming the water into
a fine film which spreads behind dirt lifting
it from the tile surface.
In addition, Hydrotect decomposes the
exhaust fumes created by industry and
cars. Scientific analyses prove that a
Hydrotect facade surface of 1000 m2
cleans the air as effectively as 70 medium-
sized deciduous trees. The coating, which
is unique in this form, is practically
indestructible. The photocatalytic effect
already activated by normal indoor lighting
or natural light is permanently conserved.

Hydrotect special brochure.
With Hydrotect, dirt is washed down by the water and can then be easily wiped off.
