THE FRESCO BY JACOPO DA PONTE

The second class participated in a workshop at the

museum to learn as Jacopo Da Ponte realized frescoes.

In 1500 Jacopo Da Ponte in addition to paint many

paintings, he made some frescoes.

Jacopo began with a sketch, that is a drawing, on which the

contours punctuated with sparse points.

Children have followed the same procedure

On the wall Jacopo smeared amalgam of lime, sand

and water. Above it supported the comp image and

spent dotted with coal dust: dusting.

He removed the design and produced the sinopia: preparatory

drawing for a fresco, drawn with a charcoal plaster.

Then these stages, children rehearsed the outline of

the design with an awl on fresh plaster.

Finally, with the natural colors

diluted in water, painted.
