THE NATURE AND THE VALUE OF GOD'S REVEALED WILL

Reality energizes! The surest source of reality - that which

is good, true, and enduring - is God's revealed will. It informs

the mind, stirs the heart, provokes the will, yet, it exists

primarily to minister to the conscience. Its provisions are

unique. Those who base their lives on the law of the Lord, are

secure for they are ruled by the highest moral standard, and

spiritual measure.

Our duty to God and our expectation from Him, is of greater

value to us than day or night, or the air we breathe. The

discoveries made of God by his works in nature (Psa. 19:1-6),

might have been sufficient if man had retained his integrity;

but, to recover man from sin, God chose to reveal His will. In

six sentences, the psalmist declared the value of God's word,

(Psa.19:7-9). In each sentence,

God's name is repeated, because the authority and excellence

of the law is from Him. Six titles of the word of God are set

forth, exalting its purpose and value, and its divine origin.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul" It is

free from all defect, filled with all good, and fitted for the

holy purpose for which it was designed; and it is able to make

the man of God perfect unto every good work, ( II Tim. 3:16-

17). Being perfect, nothing is to be added to it nor taken from

it. It is perfectly suited to turn us back to the Lord God. It

sets forth the way of our return.

"The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple."

It is infallibly safe and sure. It is the sure revelation of

eternal truth, a sure foundation of living and of hope. It is

able to make us wise to salvation, (II Tim. 3:15). Insight into

things divine and things to come are supplied in it. It calls

us to noble work and to develop Christ-like character. Those

willing to be taught by it, and who humbly embrace it, shall

be made wise, (Psa. 25:9).

"The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart."

Eternal rules and principles of God distinguish between good

and evil. They establish right reasoning for man in the right

counsel of God. All God's precepts are right (Psa. 119:128),

and if received and submitted to, they will bring rejoicing to

our hearts. In the hands of Christ, the statutes of the Lord

are cause for joy; and, when written in our hearts, they are a

foundation for everlasting joy.

…continued from front

"The commandment of the Lord is pure,

enlightening the eyes." God's commands

are clear, without darkness; they are

clean, without defect or defilement, and

they are purifying to those that receive

them. The commandments of the Lord are

the means the Spirit uses to enlighten

the eyes, and to direct us in the way of

righteousness.

"The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring

forever.” Godliness reigning in the

heart, and practiced in life is clean

itself, and will make us clean (John

15:3). It will cleanse our way (Psa.

119:9). God's decree to fear Him endures

forever! Time will never alter the

nature of moral good and evil.

"The judgments of the Lord are true and

righteous altogether." The judgments

which God has decreed are true, rest upon

eternal truths, and are in agreement with

righteousness. They are all of one piece,

and there is no unrighteousness in any of

them.

The psalmist insisted: "More to be

desired are they than gold, yea, than

much fine gold; sweeter also than honey

and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your

servant is warned, and in keeping them

there is great reward" (Psa.19:10-11).

- Ronald Bryant

Life certainly has its ups and

downs; its joys and sorrows. We

struggle through the sorrows and

celebrate the joys. It’s fun to

celebrate the joys of life.

Here’s an interesting idea

though; the greatest joy is

enhanced and expanded when you

understand that Jesus came to

earth because He loves you.

God showed just how much He loves

mankind when He sent His only

Son.

Because Jesus came, lived, died

and rose again, your sins can be

forgiven and you can have the

hope of heaven and being with the

Lord for eternity. Now, that’s

a reason for joy that makes

everything shine brighter!

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died

for us. ~Romans 5:8

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning

sacrifice for our sins. ~1 John 4:10

But because of his great love for us, God,

who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in

transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. ~ Ephesians 2:4-5

This is how God showed his love among us:

He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. ~1 John

4:9

Surely your goodness and love will follow

me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. ~Psalm 23:6
