The Dream Summer fellowship was created In 2010, after Immigrant youth leaders were
moved by the US Senate’s failure to pass the federal DREAM Act to create a way of
developing future leaders in the immigrant rights movement. The result was the inaugural
Dream Summer Fellowship, a national program that:
Empowers immigrant youth to be the next generation of social justice leaders through
professional development and national networking opportunities.
Creates safe and healing spaces for immigrant youth to connect with each other and explore
their identities.
Promotes an intersectional, cross-racial, and multi-generational approach to social justice that
addresses the needs of immigrant communities.
