Design

The GT86 brings the classic sports car experience

to a new generation. The principles are simple.

Lightweight body. Front-mounted engine.

Rear-wheel drive. Great balance and handling.

This philosophy was behind influential driver-

focused Toyota models such as the 2000GT

and AE86. These automotive icons fed the

imagination of Toyota’s engineers, and ensured

that the GT86 has the perfect blend of pedigree

and performance.

Performance

Every engineer and designer behind the

GT86 is passionate about driving and knows

that performance is not just about power

and top speed. They set the powertrain

and driving position as low and as far

back as possible, for near-perfect weight

distribution. The GT86’s core ingredients

of light weight, low centre of gravity and

a precise power-to-weight ratio connects

the driver to the road in a way that brute

power simply doesn’t understand.

A torque-sensing limited-slip differential

is fitted as standard – true to the GT86’s

character as a real driver’s car.

Safety

In the same way that driving excitement runs

through the GT86, an absolute commitment

to safety runs through Toyota.

Safety features on the GT86 include seven

airbags alongside multiple passive and active

safety systems including ABS, Brake Assist and

a Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system that

can be adjusted to suit your driving style.

Interior

Elegant, focused and driver-oriented. It’s what

a racing driver expects from a car’s interior,

and it’s a lesson applied to the GT86. You sit

low, gripped by sculpted sports seats. The

dominant dial is the rev counter. Gear shift,

switches and controls are intuitively

positioned. Understated yet classic.

From the beginning, the concept was to put the driver back at the heart of the sports car.

Control

The essence of a sports car is driver control. The GT86 has been

engineered for that purpose – not through horsepower and computer

technology but by classic driving dynamics and design. It’s not just on the

road where the GT86 shows impressive control, but also at the driver’s

fingertips with the Toyota Touch® multimedia system. The touchscreen

controls the six-speaker audio system, and enables Bluetooth® connectivity

for phone connection and music streaming, plus aux-in and USB port.

The Red interior pack, inset, includes red steering wheel inserts, gear

shift, handbrake and door handle inserts. This pack is available on all

grades, except Primo.

Discover more about GT86 technology.

The lightweight, front-mounted 2.0 litre boxer engine uses Toyota D-4S technology, combining direct and port injection to deliver more power, torque and fuel efficiency while lowering CO emissions.

ABS prevents the wheels from locking while braking. EBD complements this by optimising brake force distribution between each wheel to compensate for different loads. Together the two systems help you to maintain steering control when braking heavily.

HID headlights use less energy and are more than twice as bright as conventional halogen bulbs. This provides a safer night-time drive, especially in poor weather. These distinctive headlights are equipped with an automatic beam-levelling control to reduce glare.

If you attempt an emergency stop, BA will detect thisand apply additional brake pressure. This enables ABS to work to its maximum potential.

During an impact at lower speeds and particularly from the rear, WIL seats and headrests cushion the head and back. This reduces the risk of whiplash injuries.

If you accelerate too hard and cause the drive wheels to lose grip and begin spinning, TRC will automatically reduce engine power and control brake force to help restore traction.

VSC automatically activates each individual brake as needed and controls engine output to help maintain stability and prevent skidding when turning sharplyor cornering on slippery road surfaces.

Instead of a conventional key, the Smart Entry & Start System features a transmitter that allows you to unlock the doors by pulling the handle and lock them again by pressing a button. Toyota Extended WarrantyYou have the choice of either the unlimited mileage cover or the low-user option that restricts you to 10,000 miles per year. You also have a choice between 12 and 24 months’ cover (subject to vehicle eligibility). The 24-month option will show a saving over two 12-month Toyota Extended Warranty policies and is available with the low-user option at 10,000 miles per year over 24 months.

The Toyota Extended Warranty can be renewed until the vehicle is eight years old, and if a part covered by the Toyota Extended Warranty suffers electrical or mechanical failure at any time during the term, Toyota is committed to fixing it. You don’t pay for replacement parts or labour.
