Message from the Conference ChairmanDEVEX is now in its twelfth year and carries the theme of ‘Underpinning the Future: Discovery, Development, Recovery’. This is always important, but is particularly so now in this time of increased uncertainty: despite the severe backdrop there continues to be a great deal of good and interestingwork being carried out.

Following feedback from previous DEVEX conferences, this year the Committee have made several changes to improve the quality of the conferencefor both our delegates and exhibitors. This year, the technical programme has been strengthened by slimming down the number of papers in orderto keep the quality high, and also by the introduction of a series of Key Technical Papers. These papers are invited, have a longer time slot andunderpin the rest of the Technical Programme. They cover some of the exciting developments coming up on the UKCS as well as a look at industryhealth, some of the older success stories and also a look at the potential of shale.

In the Exhibition Hall, there will be a pop-up theatre for educational Masterclasses - another new addition to DEVEX 2015. These will run alongsidethe main Programme and offer an ideal opportunity to brush up on a topic or indeed learn something new. A display of core will also be on offer forpart of the Conference Programme.

Organised jointly by the PESGB, SPE, AFES and DECC, DEVEX is a not-for-profit conference run by industry professionals. I’m pleased to say thatwith the current backdrop we have cut the prices of attending the conference so that it continues to offer tremendous value as well as delivering afirst rate technical experience and great opportunity to see what is going on in our industry.

As ever we have had a wide range of contributions from operators, consultancies and academia all of which aim to educate and inspire. On behalfof the Technical Committee, I’d like to thank all of the contributors, event sponsors and participants for their support at past DEVEX conferences andthis year at DEVEX 2015.

I look forward to seeing you in Aberdeen.

Philip Whitely, Chair, DEVEX 2015
