When walking around the school it is wonderful to see so many of the children wearing with pride their school uniform. There are however a few students who are not always fully complying. To clarify the expectations, I have attached for your information a copy of the school’s Dress Code. The dress code was ratified by the School Board in May last year. If you are unsure of the expectations, please take the time to read the policy. Over the remainder of the term we will be speaking with children about the expectation. On the back of the policy are the uniform shop times. We thank you for your support.

At the parent information evening I spoke about the implementation of the Protective Behaviours Program. Last Wednesday evening, 6th March, a parent workshop was held providing parents with the opportunity to find out more about the program and its intentions. The parent workshop was well attended. From the feedback those who attended found the workshop to be very informative and came away with a very positive view of the program. The protective behaviours program is based on two themes: We all have the right to feel safe at all times We can talk with someone about anything, no matter what it is The Protective Behaviours Program aims to help children develop lifelong skills of assertiveness, self-confidence, problem solving, communication, resilience and help seeking. As a parent you have an important role to play. To assist you a “Protective Behaviours Parent Resource” has been developed. The school has placed a copy of the resource in your child’s class connect library.

In Year 2, students have been learning about bike safety. Students have explored the importance of wearing a bike helmet to prevent serious injury. During the last few weeks they have identified the components of a helmet, (hard shell, crushable liner, padding and strap system) and then set about designing their own helmet based on this knowledge. The students had lots of fun when dropping their eggs to see if their helmet design was successful. Some of our poor crash test dummies did not survive!
