Dear parishioners of St. John, I hope that you’re well! It’s with great joy and gratitude that I invite you to my ordination to the priesthood! On July 9, at 10:30 am, in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bishop Vasquez will ordain me along with four other deacons to the priesthood. It will be the culmination of seven years of preparation as well as a new beginning to the rest of my life as a priest of Jesus Christ. I remember fondly my time as a deacon this past summer at St. John, and I would love if you could be with me to give thanks to God for this great gift. Thank you for your support and encouragement to me in this journey, and please continue praying for me as ordination day approaches. Count on my prayers for you, and I hope to see you there! ¡Espero que estén bien! Es con gran alegría y gratitud que los invito a mi ordenación al sacerdocio! God is love and everything that comes from Him is love. Because God is love, He loves you and can never stop loving you. He does not love everyone impersonally, but rather he loves each one of us in a very personal manner. He loves each one of us exactly the way we need to be loved. Amazingly enough, God doesn’t even ask that you love Him, but he does ask that you allow yourself to be loved by Him. We invite you to come and experience God’s love in a very personal way at the NEW LIFE retreat on August 12, 13, and 14th at our parish. The retreat is FREE, does not require an overnight stay and all your meals are provided throughout the weekend. It’s also a great way to meet and make new friends at our parish! During May 2016, our San Marcos conference assisted 73 families
(with 207 family members) with their utility bills, rent, prescriptions, temporary housing and other essentials in the amount of $10,034. Since the floods of 2015, the rents in San Marcos continue to rise. As a result, there has been a rash of homelessness. During May we helped sixteen homeless families and three homeless individuals. It is heartbreaking to see homeless people, especially families with small children.
