J’adore the creations this designer made
for his Look Style Awards 2013
Competition happened last Nov. 14. Jian
Lasala, a Ready-to-wear Designer, that
been criticized and accused a lot for his
creations that been allegedly copied from
international designers design. Some
don’t admire his creations because of that
but for me whenever I see his creations I cannot see the things that
people is trying to say about his design not because his copying failed to
achieve it but What can I see is his Passion, Dedication and a Jian
Lasala’s aesthetics.
One of the youngest designers to grace the stage of the Philippine
Fashion Week. Started at the age of 21, Jian is already showing his
creations in the runway and been featured in various magazine.
One of my Biggest dream is to see his Brother Miguel walks for him
wearing his creations in the runway.
A Good Designer, Strong Person that can never be pull down by
accusations, & a Nice Brother
Lets Know Him More…
How did you first become interested in Fashion?
- I became interested with fashion when my mom brought me to her uncle's house to watch the Miss Universe 1994 pageant. From then I started sketching the gowns of the candidates specially the one of India's Sushmita Sen.
What qualities does a designer need to have?
-A designer should be creative of course, determined and hardworking.
What are the challenges you had experience in the fashion
industry?
-Capitalization to start the business and competition of exposure. Capitalization is a challenge because for a 3rd world country like the Philippines, it's focus is more on agriculture and infrastructure development and does not have time for the arts and culture. Competition of exposure because there are already designers who have gone ahead of us. Where do you get your inspiration for your collections?
-I usually get my inspiration from my feelings and personal experiences.
Designers that you look up?
I look up to Yves Saint Laurent and Cristobal Balenciaga. Internationally, who do you thinks is the best muse of your
designs?
I like Kate Moss and Kate Middleton.
If Coco Chanel is alive and she invited you for a talk, what is
the first thing you will ask her?
-Why did she want to become a fashion designer? If Anna Wintour asked you to have a dinner with her and she
asked you to describe and discuss Philippine Fashion, what
will you say?
-I will tell her that the Philippine Fashion Industry is very promising but lacks the avenue for a global marketing campaign and financing.
