1 Revision Information This document is based on the following document:
Title: Mapping of Cause Codes and Location Information
Number: 7/155 18-AXE 106 30/2 Uen, Rev. B
The changes between the previous document and this document are:
Cause code 57 added in RANAP chapter 3.2.1.5
Software units MHICU and MHOCOIPU are no longer controlling the mapping of BSSMAP
Cause values to AXE internal cause values, removed from 3.2.1.2
Reserved and spare values are removed from the tables, a note is added for the gaps in the
mapping tables defining the default value.
The tables are split according to the cause value classes
DSS1 mappings were corrected
Added new chapter/table 4.2.1.6 with DSS1 -> AXE. and new chapter/table 4.3.1.6 with
AXE -> DSS1 .
2 Function This Application Information provides the standard mapping between:
External cause values and AXE internal cause values
External location and AXE internal location
in the source system AXE 106 30/3.
Most of the mappings are controlled by the parameter lists or AXE parameters of the applicable
blocks and can be different for each market.
3 Cause Values The cause values are used to indicate the reason for generating certain protocol messages.
External cause values are used in different protocols (AAL2, DTAP, DSS1, BICC, BSSMAP,
MAP, RANAP, ISUP, INAP and CAP).
Since values in different protocols may overlap, a unique AXE internal cause value is assigned to
those used by protocols.
The Cause Code is expressed as a-b where:
Location of cause originator, Numeral 0 - 15
Cause value Numeral, 0 - 255
3.1 Cause Value Classes For DTAP, DSS1, BICC, BSSMAP, ISUP, RANAP and Q.AAL2 the external cause value
consists of two fields: a class and a value within the cause class. The class indicates the general
nature of the event.
The following classes exist:
Table 1 Cause Value Classes for DTAP, DSS1, BICC, BSSMAP, and ISUP

3.2 Mapping External Cause Values to AXE Internal Cause
Values
3.2.1 Call Control Cause Values
3.2.1.1 DTAP and/or RANAP/NAS Cause Values to AXE Internal Cause Values
Since the DTAP and RANAP/NAS cause values are the same, they are listed together. The text
which belongs to AXE cause values marked with "*" does not correspond to the definition of the
respective DTAP and/or RANAP/NAS cause value.
The part of the mapping of DTAP and/or RANAP/NAS to AXE internal cause values is
controlled by AXE parameters of the software units MTBCCU and MTAPHU.
The definition of the AXE internal cause values can be seen in chapter 3.3.1.1.

3.2.1.6 ITU-T and ETSI ISUP 7.7 Cause Values to AXE Internal Cause Values
The text which belongs to AXE cause values marked with "*" does not correspond to the definition of the respective ITU-T/ETSI ISUP 7.7 cause value. In case the ETSI text differs from the ITU-T
text there is a note after the table.
The mapping of ITU-T/ETSI ISUP 7.7 cause values to AXE internal cause values is controlled by application parameters of the software unit UPMHRU.
The mapping tables can be adapted to market needs, by using screening masks. This includes ETSI ISUP used on international interface.
The definition of the AXE internal cause values can be seen in chapter 3.3.1.3.
Note: There exists a mapping of cause values for the Etheric 2.1 protocol, which is based on the ITU ISUP. The mapping is NOT to internal cause values, it is done to internal End-of-selection codes
(see software units IABTDL2U , IABTE1U and Function Specification 3/15517-ANT 308 05/1 Uen)

3.2.1.8 ITU-T and ANSI ISUP 7.5 Cause Values to AXE Internal Cause Values
The text which belongs to AXE cause values marked with "*" does not correspond to the definition of the respective ISUP 7.5 cause value.
The mapping of ISUP 7.5 cause values to AXE internal cause values is controlled by application parameters of the software unit UPAMHR.
ISUP 7.5 cause values are divided into cause values for ANSI coding standard and cause values for ITU-T coding standard. Table 10 shows the mapping for ITU-T coding standard and Table 11 shows the mapping for ANSI coding standard. The
mapping table to use depends on the coding standard indicated in the cause information element of the protocol.
The mapping tables can be adapted to market needs, by using a screening mask.
The definition of the AXE internal cause values can be seen in chapter 3.3.1.5.
