13th Annual Honors College Symposium for Scholarly and Creative Research Six Florida Atlantic University Honors College students collaborated with members of Scripps Research Institute and Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience staff on their theses. Their projects are listed below. Brandon Gilliland worked with Dr. Seth Tomchik of Scripps Florida for his thesis titled, “The Role of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (Antidepressants) in Drosophila Melanogaster.” Dominick Casciato worked with Dr. David Fitzpatrick the CEO of Max Planck for his thesis titled, “The Maturation of GABAergic Circuitry in Ferret Visual Cortex.” Lindsay Gorgen worked with Dr. Srinivasa Subramaniam from Scripps for her thesis titled, “Mechanism and Biological Relevance of Rheb-PERK-eIF2α Signaling Cascade.” Alisha Goldberg worked with Dr. Seth Tomchik for her thesis titled, “Studying Sleep and Activity in a Drosophila Melanogaster Model of Neurofibromatosis Type 1.” Asnel Joseph worked with Dr. M. McLean Bolton from Max Planck for his thesis titled, “Morphological Complexity of Layer II/III Neurons in the Medial Frontal, Dorsal Frontal, and Visual Cortex of Three Shew Tupaia Belangeri.” Natalie Haffield worked with Dr. Massimiliano Aceti and Dr. Gavin Rumbaugh of Scripps Florida for her thesis titled, “SYNGAP1 Haploinsufficiency Causes Behavioral Deficits in an ID Mouse Model.”

13th Annual Honors College Symposium for Scholarly and Creative Research Six Florida Atlantic University Honors College students collaborated with members of Scripps Research Institute and Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience staff on their theses. Their projects are listed below.
