TOTTO Aruba Is Ready for Back To School

The word on the street is:

The rise of crime on our island, honestly foreigners get a bad rap everything is

mostly blames on them, anything happens the first thing they love to say is”

send them back to where they came from, and leave Aruba for the real

Arubians” .Well I’m sad to inform you that there is no more 100% Arubian, if

you don’t believe me ask your self: Where is my father from? And his father?

and his father? and his father? Now do you see?

The one thing your fighting is the reason we are so strong, the mixture of

different cultures gives us the strength and knowledge to stand out and be at

the top of our game, the reason we speak 4 different languages sometimes

even more, the reason we can go in a kitchen and be so creative, and list goes

on! It is true there are good and bad in everything, but if you want to change

the world, start with that person you see in the mirror everyday then take the

next step.

The only person that has the power is YOU!

Time to Smile!

Being a "contender" in the NBA world is in some ways a self-fulfilling prophecy: Players will flock to a team perceived as one and flock away from one perceived as being a bit short of what it takes. That matters today because, for the first time in five years, we may have seen a player put the Boston Celtics in the second group and not the first. Ray Allen agreed to terms with Miami, taking half as much money to join a team with a better chance of winning. While I'm sure there were plenty of other issues that went into it -- choose among golf, sun, minutes, and residual grievances -- one possible takeaway was that he was so convinced the Heat were better that it was worth it to him to take half the money. This is nothing new, of course -- veterans have been chasing rings by signing discount deals with contenders for eons. That's how P.J. Brown helped Boston win a title, how Shane Battier helped Miami win one, and how assorted other veteran castaways have landed on the rosters of both squads in recent seasons. The difference now is that Boston's membership in that group has been questioned. Not by everybody, perhaps -- Jason Terry jumped from another fringe contender, Dallas, to join Boston, and Kevin Garnett has already agreed to come back -- but for the first time we see tinges of doubt.

After weeks of silence and a plethora of rumors that have infiltrated Dancehall circles, internationally

acclaimed Dancehall superstar, Popcaan has finally spoken out; addressing every topic of speculation

that his name has been involved in in recent times.

With the Portmore Empire officially disbanding last month and fellow ex-member of the group,

Tommy Lee stating during an interview on Friday that Popcaan was not a member of Kartel's newly

formed PG13 stable, the Party Shot deejay has come forward to set the record straight amidst rumors

of a falling out between himself and the self-professed Worl' Boss.

In a statement sent out to the media on Monday, Popcaan talked in detail about various topics,

including his thoughts of the Portmore Empire's dissolution.

"The world already knows that my career was launched from the greatest dancehall school and

business entity, The Portmore Empire/Adidjaheim Records led by Vybz Kartel. Since Vybz Kartel's

incarceration in September 2011 I remained a loyal and contributing member of this unit until May

2012 when the Portmore Empire was dissolved," he said.

"Rumors started as early as September 2011 that I had left the Portmore Empire, this was not so. My

actions in October 2011 were to seek booking representation as this very important function was no

longer viable for me with the incarceration of the head of my management and booking company. To

date I have no formal management or booking agreement and only since June 2012, with the

dissolution of the Portmore Empire have I engaged the services of a lawyer to put these agreements

in place."

"From September 2011 to present I have worked hard and stayed focused on my career with my main

intention to make sure that the music from the Portmore Empire was being released and the brand

remained in the forefront of the dancehall music industry. I feel that I did that to the best of my ability

with the release of songs like Party Shot, Fry Yiy, Coolie Gal, Bad Mind, She A Gwaan Good, Nuh Sell

Out and Step Like Dead and with performances all over the world."

Is Jamaican Artist Popcaan out of the Gaza?

Directions

Tip: If you want to avoid your dough sticking to the bowl too much, spray it with cooking spray or wipe it with a lightly greased paper towel.

Mix dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt – in a large mixing bowl using a large fork. Work in the butter with your fingers. It’s like making a pie crust. Add about 1 cup of water by stirring it in with a fork. Add a little more water, about ¼ cup at a time. Keep stirring until the mixture forms a soft dough. Sprinkle flour on the counter and transfer the dough. Knead for a few minutes to allow the ingredients to blend and gluten to form. You may have to add a few sprinkles of flour at a time to keep the dough from becoming too tacky or sticky. If you under knead the gluten will not have a chance to form a good dough. If you over knead the dough will be rubbery. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes.

Flour your hands and your counter-top. Make about 12-15 round balls of dough and set aside. Heat your frying pot with oil. While the oil is heating, use a rolling pin to flatten out each ball. Do not flatten them too much or they will be like crackers. When a drop of water pops in the pot it is ready for frying. Fry a few johnny cakes at a time. Do not overcrowd the pot – that will make the Johnny Cakes greasy. When the underside is golden brown, flip it over. Do not flip each over more than once. I use tongs like a preacher uses the Bible. Tongs are great for frying because they don’t poke the food. Fry each until both sides are golden brown. Drain each on a cooling rack.

Tip: Many people reheat johnny cakes in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. This is okay, but 3 minutes in the toaster oven gives them that freshly fried texture.
