Another one of our specialties is our Battery Fix – repair shop.When customers hand in their old batteries (Ni-Cd – NiMh-Li-Ion) of their drilling device, E-bike, garden tools, … we renew the elements that are inside, so you receive a new battery in the old housing.Saving money for a greener world !
SERVICE DEPARTMENT
We have our own service department for repairing & maintaining the batteries & chargers. We can perform capacity tests on batteries, regenerate batteries, and much more, right here in our company.The electronic department is specialised in repairing all types of chargers: traditional or high frequency.

Because of its construction, a starter battery is only suitable for short loads with high current, which most commonly take place when starting an engine of a car, truck …The main characteristic of a starter battery is that they have big, thin, flat plates. Starter batteries are not suitable for cyclic use (continuous charging & discharging) A starter battery is relatively cheap.

TRACTION BATTERIES

2 VOLT TRACTION CELLS
2 volt traction cells are mainly used in heavy industrial electrical
applications, such as: electric forklifts, electric trucks, large industrial
cleaning machines, tower wagons etc.
The cells are composed of positive tubular plates and negative grid
plates, which guarantee a higher capacity and longer life than the
conventional batteries with flat plates.
The positive and negative plates are separated by a micro-porous
separator in order to avoid mutual contact and short circuits.
The plates are packed in a polypropylene container that is resistant to
vibrations. At the bottom of this container, there is a rest room to collect
the precipitate and thus to prevent short circuits.
On top of the cells, there is a lid to prevent the coming-up of the
separators by vibrations and shocks and causing a short circuit. The lid
also protects against acid and protects the plates and the separators
during filling.
The cells are standard equipped with manual filler caps and a little
basket which simplifies the refilling (refill up to the bottom of the
basket).

THE FOLLOWING VERSIONS ARE AVAILABLE
"S-version": the cells are linked by flexible screwed
connections.
"A-version": automatic mobile filling system on the
basis of filler caps and floats.
Advantage: alle cells are simultanously refilled in
an instant and without spilling up to the right level:
time-saving!
"Z-version": Acid circulation version, cells with acid
circulation. Every element contains a little tube in
which the charger pumps a little quantity of air which
makes the electrolyte circulate from the beginning of
the charge (cf diagram)

THE CELLS ARE AVAILABLE IN
FOLLOWING TYPES
DIN-series: DIN sizes, positive tubular plate diameter 8.7 mm (more
active material!), specific gravity of the electrolyte 1.29kg/l
BS-series: British Standard sizes, positive tubular plate diameter 8.7 mm,
specific gravity of the electrolyte 1.29klg/l.
GEL-series: GEL 2V elements with positive tubular plates.

A COUPLE OF TIPS FOR A LONGER BATTERY

• only refilling with demineralised water
• refilling after charge
• refilling up to the bottom side of the baskets: not higher!
• Keep the upper side of the battery dry and clean
• use an adequate charger for battery & capacity

THE MAIN TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:• Thicker plates

The battery life measured in discharge / charge cycles, depends not

What is a PSOC battery?
PSOC stands for Partial State of Charge. Most standard batteries are not PSOC compatible and require a full recharge after each discharge to achieve long life. Performing a full recharge of a battery takes a significant amount of time. A PSOC compatible battery does not require a full recharge every cycle and is therefore much faster and easier to recharge. NorthStar Cyclic Batteries are true PSOC compatible batteries. Are you looking for a 24V or 48V battery?In this case you can respectively connect in series 2x12V or 2x24V. You can put maximum 2 batteries of 12V or 24V in series.
DischargingThe discharge current of the series configuration remains equal to the discharge current of the individual battery. The batteries of 12V/40Ah provide together a discharge current of 40A, equal to the current of every individual battery.
ChargingCharging a series connected battery is not possible with a normal charger connected to the outside poles. So you need to charge with the normal charger each individual battery. In this case you use at the same moment 2 chargers or you need a double amount of time to charge with 1 charger the batteries one by one. Therefor we can help you and assemble your battery with a “dual-plug”. This is 1 plug on which you connect 1 ‘dual charger’. A very efficient and user-friendly solution to charge at once your in series configured battery and to avoid wrong connection and charging. So one big advantage: only 1 charger or double fast charging. This dual charger is available in 5A, 10A and 20A
USE IN PARALLEL:
Are you looking to double or even triple the autonomy of your device? In that case you can simply install the batteries parallel. From the 12V or 24V batteries you can install maximum 3 batteries parallel. Be careful: before putting the batteries in a parallel configuration mind that each battery is completely charged.
DischargingThe discharging current from the parallel configuration remains the same as from the individual batteries.2 Batteries from 12V/40Ah have together a discharging current of 40A which is exactly the same as from a single battery.
ChargingYou can charge the parallel mounted batteries at one pair of poles with a standard charger. Also for this we have an efficient and user-friendly 1-plug solution. Depending on whether there are 2 or 3 batteries in the parallel configuration, the charging time will be doubled or tripled. You can also win time by charging all batteries at the same time with all individual chargers. An installation with 2 batteries in parallel can be equipped with a tailor made ‘dual-plug’. This is a plug which allows to make connection with a ‘dual-charger’.So in a very efficient and user-friendly way you can charge at once your complete parallel battery configuration and avoid connecting or charging the batteries in a wrong way. OpzS batteries are standby batteries with tubular plates,
especially designed as battery backup power for all industrial
applications which demand low-maintenance as well as
average and long discharges. The tubular design with lead
selenium alloy guarantees a longer operating life, minimum
maintenance and optimal performances in cyclic and standby
applications.

HOW TO ORDER A STATIONARY
BATTERY?
• Type and reference of the battery
• Voltage & AH of the battery
• Size of the outerbox of the battery
• Lead-acid / AGM or GEL
When this data aren’t available, we need following information:
Dimensioning of the battery:
Parameters:
1. Which capacity in (K)watt or which constant current
2. Nominal tension of the battery (12V, 24V,...)
3. Autonomy
4. Minimal final tension
5. Ambient temperature (if possible).
Use the discharge tables (constant capacity per cell, or constant
current) per final tension per autonomy.
E.g.: 12V, 240 watt, 1 hour:
Capacity per cell = 240 / 6 = 40A
When you take 1,75V/cell as final tension for 60 minutes
Choice: DAS12-33: 40,3 watt or DAS 12-44: 53,3 watt.

We keep the case of the battery, open it and replace all old battery cells by new high-grade battery cells (like Sanyo, Panasonic, GP etc.° We close the case and you have a new battery in the existing case!
This can make a difference in price: up to 50 % cheaper regard to a new one & it’s also good for the environment!

SHOP CONCEPT
BATTERY STREET
Recently we’ve also started up our new project “Battery Street”.
Battery Street is a concept for shops where people (regular customers) and
small companies are welcome. We want to open these shops in several regions,
where people can buy batteries for their laptops, cell phones, playstations, …
but also for their cars, lawn mowers, campers, motorbikes, …
There is also the Battery Fix – repair shop : the customers can give in their old
batteries of their drilling device, E-bike, garden tool, … we renew the elements
that are inside , weld them with a special welding machine, so the customers
receive a new battery in the existing housing for a reduced price.
Our first shop was opened in December in Roeselare & in February we opened another shop in Ghent.
When this concept is successful in Belgium, we are planning to start up these shops abroad. We will use the concept of licensing. Future partners
will be allowed to open their own Battery Street shop. We will provide them with all their batteries and support them with publicity and marketing.
They will be allowed to use the registered trade names “Battery Street” and “Battery Fix”.
