CAUTION

The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle isintended to alert the user to the presence of importantoperating and maintenance (servicing) instructions inthe literature accompanying the appliance.

CLEANING The product should be cleaned only witha polishing cloth or a soft dry cloth. Never clean withfurniture wax, benzine, insecticides or other volatileliquids since they may corrode the cabinet.

ATTACHMENTS Do not use attachments notrecommended by the product manufacturer as theymay cause hazards.

WATER AND MOISTURE Do not use this productnear water for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement;or near a swimming pool; and the like.

ACCESSORIES Do not place this product on anunstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. Theproduct may fall, causing serious injury to a child oradult, and serious damage to the product. Use onlywith a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or tablerecommended by the manufacturer, or sold withthe product. Any mounting of the product shouldfollow the manufacturers instructions, and shoulduse a mounting accessory recommended by themanufacturer.

CART A product and cart combination should bemoved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, anduneven surfaces may cause the product and cartcombination to overturn.

VENTILATION Slots and openings in the cabinet areprovided for ventilation and to ensure reliableoperation of the product and to protect it fromoverheating, and these openings must not beblocked or covered. The openings should never beblocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug,or other similar surface. This product should not beplaced in a built-in installation such as a bookcase orrack unless proper ventilation is provided or themanufacturers instructions have been adhered to.

POWER SOURCES This product should be operatedonly from the type of power source indicated on themarking label. If you are not sure of the type ofpower supply to your home, consult your productdealer or local power company.

LOCATION The appliance should be installed in astable location.

NONUSE PERIODS The power cord of the applianceshould be unplugged from the outlet when left un-used for a long period of time.

GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION If this product is equipped with a polarized alternating

current line plug (a plug having one blade wider thanthe other), it will fit into the outlet only one way. Thisis a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plugfully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plugshould still fail to fit, contact your electrician toreplace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat thesafety purpose of the polarized plug.

If this product is equipped with a three-wiregrounding type plug, a plug having a third (grounding)pin, it will only fit into a grounding type power outlet.This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert theplug into the outlet, contact your electrician toreplace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat thesafety purpose of the grounding type plug.

POWER-CORD PROTECTION - Power-supply cordsshould be routed so that they are not likely to bewalked on or pinched by items placed upon oragainst them, paying particular attention to cords atplugs, convenience receptacles, and the point wherethey exit from the product.

OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING If an outsideantenna or cable system is connected to the product,be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded soas to provide some protection against voltage surgesand built-up static charges. Article 810 of the NationalElectrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides informationwith regard to proper grounding of the mast andsupporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wireto an antenna discharge unit, size of groundingconductors, location of antenna-discharge unit,connection to grounding electrodes, andrequirements for the grounding electrode. See FigureA.

LIGHTNING For added protection for this productduring a lightning storm, or when it is left unattendedand unused for long periods of time, unplug it fromthe wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cablesystem. This will prevent damage to the productdue to lightning and power-line surges.

POWER LINES An outside antenna system shouldnot be located in the vicinity of overhead power linesor other electric light or power circuits, or where itcan fall into such power lines or circuits. Wheninstalling an outside antenna system, extreme careshould be taken to keep from touching such powerlines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

OVERLOADING Do not overload wall outlets,extension cords, or integral convenience receptaclesas this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY - Never push objects ofany kind into this product through openings as theymay touch dangerous voltage points or short-outparts that could result in a fire or electric shock.Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.

SERVICING Do not attempt to service this productyourself as opening or removing covers may exposeyou to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer allservicing to qualified service personnel.

DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE - Unplug this productfrom the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualifiedservice personnel under the following conditions:

When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into

the product. If the product has been exposed to rain or water. If the product does not operate normally by following

the operating instructions. Adjust only those controlsthat are covered by the operating instructions as animproper adjustment of other controls may result indamage and will often require extensive work by aqualified technician to restore the product to itsnormal operation.

If the product has been dropped or damaged in anyway.

When the product exhibits a distinct change inperformance this indicates a need for service.

For stubborn stains moisten a soft cloth with glass cleaner or other mild detergent to wipe away any stains. Use a soft cloth to wipe any residual cleaner. Never use volatile cleaners such as benzene, solvent, or thinner to clean your unit, these cleaners will damage the units surface.

14MXR SET-UP PRECAUTIONSPleasebesuretomakeanyconnectionsbeforepluggingthemixerintoanelectricaloutlet.Allfaderandvolumecontrolsshouldbesettozeroorminimumposition,beforethemixerisswitchedon.Ifthemixerhasbeenexposedtodrastictemperaturefluctuation(e.g.aftertransportation),donotswitchonthemixerimmediately.Thearisingcondensationofwatermightdamageyourdevice.Leavethedeviceswitchedoffuntilithasreachedroomtemperature.

OperatingDeterminations: Wheninstallingthismixer,pleasemakesurethatthedeviceisnotexposedorwillnotbe exposedtoextremeheat,moistureordust! Donotoperatethemixerinextremelyhot(morethan30/100F)orextremelycold(lessthan 5C/40F)surroundings. Keeptheunitoutofdirectsunlightandawayfromheaters. SOURCE SELECTOR, CHANNEL EQ, LPF/HPF FILTER, BANDWIDTH, CUE SELECTOR, & CHANNEL VOLUME FADER - SOURCE SELECTOR SWITCH - Theseswitchesareusedtoselecttheinputsourceassignedtoeachchannel.Eachchannelmayonlybeassignedoneinputsourceatatime.ThisswitchmustbeintheANALOGpositionforturntableandlineoperation.

CHANNEL BASS CONTROL - Thisknobisusedtoadjustthelowfrequencylevelsofachannelallowingforamaximumbassgainof12dBormaximumsignaldecreaseof-dB.Turningtheknobinacounter-clockwisedirectionwilldecreasetheamountofbassappliedtoachannelsignal,turningtheknobinaclockwisedirectionwillincreasetheamountofbassappliedtoachannelsignal.

LPF/HPF CONTROL - ThisknobisusedtocontroltheLPF/HPFfilter.TheLEDindicatorwillglowwhenthefilterisOn.ThecenterpositionfortheFilterisneutralsothesignaliswillnotbefiltered.Turntheknobtotheleftfromtheneutralpositiontosetthelowpassfilter,thiswillcutoffallfrequencieshigherthantheamountsetonthefilter.Turntheknobtotherightfromtheneutralpositiontosetthehighpassfilter,thiswillcutoffallfrequencieslowerthantheamountsetonthefilter.

BANDWIDTH CONTROL - ThisknobisusedinconjuctionwiththeLPF/HPFfilter. CUE SELECTOR BUTTON - ThesebuttonsareusedtoactivateachannelsCUEmode.TheCUELEDwillglowwhenachannelscuemodeisactivated.TheCuefunctionsendsachannelsincomingsignaltotheheadphones.ThecuelevelisadjustedbytheCUE LEVEL KNOB (6). BesuretheCUE MIXING KNOB (7) issettotheCUEpositiontohearaselectedchannelsource. CHANNEL VOLUME FADER - Thesefadersareusedtocontroltheoutputsignalofanysourceassignedtoitsparticularchannel.However,mastervolumeiscontrolledbythe MASTER VOLUME CONTROL (3).2. BOOTH LEVEL - Thisknobisusedtoadjuststheboothvolumeoutputlevel.Turntheknobinaclockwisedirectiontoincreasethemonitorvolume.

4. BROWSER CONTROLS AND FILTERS (MIDI) - LOAD A (MIDI) - This button will load the selected song to the Left deck. Use the SHIFT BUTTON (9) to access the buttons secondary command Load selected song to secondary Left deck. LOAD B (MIDI) - This button will load the selected song to the Right deck. Use the SHIFT BUT- TON (9) to access the buttons secondary command Load selected song to secondary Right deck. ENCODER & PUSH ACTION - Turn the encoder to increase or decrease the selected action. Pushing down on the encoder activates an action. See the navigation (Up, Down, FWD, Back) buttons for more info. UP (MIDI) - This control will set focus on the Left deck FX unit. The Encoder will set the amount for Parameter 1 on the Left FX unit; the SHIFT BUTTON (9) + the ENCODER will set the amount for Parameter 2; and pushing the ENCODER will turn the FX on/off. FWD (MIDI) - This control will set focus on the Song browser. The ENCODER will browse up/ down the song list. DOWN (MIDI) - This control will set focus on the Right deck FX unit. The Encoder will set the amount for Parameter 1 on the Right FX unit; the SHIFT BUTTON (9) + the ENCODER will set the amount for Parameter 2; and pushing the ENCODER will turn the FX on/off. 7. CUE MIXING CONTROL - This functions allows you tomonitor the Cue level as well as theProgram(mainoutput)levelinyourheadphones.AchannelsCueLevelmayonlybemonitoredifthe

8. SPLIT CUE - Thisbuttonwillactivate theSplitCue function.Whenusedwithasetofstereoheadphones,theSplitCuefunctionwillassigntheCuesignaltotheleftchanneloftheheadphonesandtheProgram(mainoutput)signaltotherightchanneloftheheadphones.Essentiallysplittingthecuesignalinhalf.Thisprocesswillallowforheadphonesmixing.TheCUE MIXING CONTROL (7) will alsoworkinconjunctionwithfunction.Pleasenotethatthisfunctionwillonlyworkwithasetofstereoheadphones.

9. SHIFT (MIDI) - The button has 2 functions a soft and a hard shift. A soft shift is performed by tog-gling the shift button, this will be indicated by a blinking shift LED. A hard shift is performed by holding down the shift button and combining it with another button.NOTE: When performing a hard shift, its recommended you release the secondary button before releasing the Shift button, this is to prevent MIDI latches unless the MIDI function is a temporary function.10. MASTER VOLUME LEVEL INDICATORS - ThedualMASTERLEVELLED indicatorsareusedtodetailthemasterfaderoutputlevel.Themeterswilldetailtheoutputlevelofboththeleftandrightchannels.

11. FADER ASSIGN SWITCH -Thisswitchassignsachannel to theCROSSFADER (13).WhenachannelisassignedtotheleftsideoftheCROSSFADER (13) thatchannelsoutputlevelisroutedtoandcontrolledbytheCROSSFADER (13).SlidingtheCROSSFADER (21)toleftpositionwillsendthevolumeoutputoftheassignedchannel tothe MASTER VOLUME LEVEL (3),sidingtheCROSSFADER (13) torightpositionwillcut thatchannelsvolumetoMASTER VOLUME LEVEL (3). Thereverse istruefortherightchannelfaderassignswitch.WhentheassignswitchissettotheOFFpositionthecrossfaderwillhavenofunction.

12. HEADPHONE JACK - Thisjackisusedtoconnectyourheadphonestothemixerallowingyoutomonitorthecuesource.Useheadphonesonlyratedat8ohmsto32ohms.MostDJheadphonesareratedat16ohm,thesearehighlyrecommended.AlwaysbesuretheCUE LEVEL VOLUME (6) is set to minimumbeforeyouputtheheadphoneson.

13. FEATHER FADER PLUS CROSSFADER - Thisfaderisusedtoblendtheoutputsignalsofchan-nelsoneandtwotogether.Whenthefaderisinthefullleftposition(channel1),theoutputsignalofchannelonewillbecontrolledbythemastervolumelevel.Thesamefundamentalswillapplyforchan-neltwo.Slidingthefaderfromonepositiontoanotherwillvarytheoutputsignalsofchannelsoneandtworespectively.Whenthecrossfaderissetinthecenterposition,theoutputsignalsofboththechannelsoneandchannelstwowillbeeven.

14. CROSSFADER CURVE ADJUSTMENT - Thisrotaryknobisusedtochangethewaythecross-faderwilloperate.Thecrossfadercanoperateindifferentmodes,NORMALCURVE,QUICKCURVEoranyvariationofthetwo.(QuickCurveisusuallyusedforscratching).



15. CUE, SYNC, PITCH BEND, & PLAY/PAUSE (MIDI) - CUE 1, 2, & 3 - These buttons will set or trigger hot cue 1, 2, or 3. DELETING HOT CUE POINTS - If a hot cue point is set, it is indicated by a lit Cue button LED. If you wish to delete a hot cue point, press the Shift button. The shift button LED will flash along with the Cue LEDs. Press the Cue button that contains the hot cue you wish to delete. After, press the Shift button again to disable the soft shift. PITCH BEND - To perform temporary pitch bends in Virtual DJ, hold the Shift button and Cue 1 to slow the track. To speed up the track hold the Shift button and press the Sync button. To reset the pitch, hold the Shift button and press Cue 3. SYNC - Will sync the selected deck to the opposite deck or master deck/tempo. CUE - When the deck is playing, pressing this button will return to the 1st cue point. If the deck is paused, pressing Cue will set a new cue point.16. Cleaningfrequencydependsontheenvironmentinwhichthemixeroperates(i.e.smoke,fogresidue,dust,dew).

ThecrossfaderisHotSwapablewhichmeansitmaybereplacedatanytime,evenwhenpowerisapplied.OnlyreplacewithAmericanAudioPartFeatherFaderPlus.Replacingwithanyothermodelfadermayseriouslydamageyourmixer.

ReplacingtheCrossfader:1. Disconnectthemixersmainpowersupply2. UsinganumbertwoPhillipsscrewdriver,unscrewtheeachofthestainlesssteelretainscrews thatholdthecrossfaderinplace.3. Gentlyremovethecrossfaderfromitsseatedposition.Youmayneedtowigglethecrossfader slightlytoremoveit.4. Afterremovingthecrossfader,disconnecttheribboncablethatattachesthecrossfadertothe PCboard.Graspthecrossfaderbyitsbaseandpulltheribboncablebyitsconnectornottheactualcables.Theconnectorisdesignedtoonlyfitoneway,sodontworryabouttheconnectors orientation.5. There is no power to the unit:Besureyouhaveconnectedthepowercordtoacorrectwalloutlet.

There is little or no sound:1.Checktheinputselectorswitch.Makesureitissettothedevicethatiscurrentlyplaying.2.Checktoseeiftheconnectioncablesareconnectedproperly.

The sound is distorted:1.MakesurethattheGainlevelcontrolisnotsettohigh.

Crossfader is not working:Checkandseeifanychannelshavebeenassignedtothecrossfader.
