Workshop on Tourism Statistics
Held on October 7-9, 2003 in Cebu City
Objectives:
•To increase the awareness on the significant role of statistics
in the overall development and promotion of Philippine
tourism.
•To strengthen the statistical capability of the participants
through adoption of common terminologies and concepts as
well as, application of processes for compiling and
generating tourism statistics.

Radio Interviews of Key Government Officials
Key government officials from the DOT, NSO, NSCB,
NCRFW and BSP were interviewed on the various
radio stations such as the DZRB Radio ng Bayan,
DZRV Radio Veritas and DZRM Radio Mindanao.
Through the initiative of the PIA, there were also
invitations from other radio stations such DZME,
DZBB, DZEC, DZAR and DZBB.

1. Hosting of meetings of the Steering Committee by the host
agency
2. Creation of work-specific working goups
3. Integrated PSS exhibit be a regular activity of the NSM
4. Preparation of press releases, announcements and featured
articles for submission to local dailies instead of a one page
newspaper supplement
5. Early submission of activities for inclusion in the calendar of
activities. The use of email system is being encouraged in the
submission
6. Participation in the NSM Awards System
7. Monitoring mechanism should be established and
institutionalized.
