    BENEFIT OF DRAMA

    1. Social/emotional development

y They tend to demonstrate more empathy toward

others because they have tried out being someone

    else for a while.

y They have the skills to cooperate with peers, control

impulses, and are less aggressive than children who

do not engage in this type of play (Smilansky, 1990)

    CONCLUSION

Dramatic play permits children to fit the reality

of the world into their own interests and

    knowledge.

Dramatic play contributes strongly to the

    intellectual development of children (Piaget,

    1962).

Symbolic play is a necessary part of a child's

    language development (Edmonds, 1976).
