COMPONENTS:
My name is Matt Biolos… People call me “Mayhem”. I am Southern California, born and raised. I started making surfboards, in San Clemente, 1987. In 1991 I co-founded the brand …Lost, and since that time I have trav-eled the world, shaping, surfing and designing surfboards until …Lost Surfboards became one of the most popular board labels on the planet. We are known for working with the best athletes in the surfing world, being a leader in design, having a lot of fun and also being open minded in working with new technologies and constructions that come our way. Since I first saw LIB-Techs Eco-Iso construction, I wanted to build a board with it. The weight to strength ratio, eco minded materials and techniques, and the fact that some thing this tech was being done in the USA was incredibly interesting to me. I am stoked that that time has finally come and hope people enjoy riding them as we have enjoyed building them.
Having grown up in the 1980’s Southern California surf and skate culture, I was fortunate to stumble upon snowboarding in its early years. In fact, although a surfboard shaper and designer by trade, I have actually been snowboard-ing longer than surfing. My friends and I lived a short drive from Mt. Baldy, and in the fall of 1982, at age 13, we built our own garage snowboards. Based on boards we saw in Action Now magazine. We would take turns driving up Mountain Ave, and ride our crude boards down the sides of the hill. Although I soon moved on to surfing (and then to the beach and the surfboard business) snowboarding has remained my consistent passion for over 30 years. My entire family Snowboards or skis and we spend weeks at a time in the mountains every year. I always tell people “ I will drive 6 hours for powder, before driving an hour for waves. When the opportunity came to work with LIB TECH and design some snowboards, it was like a dream come true. Full circle to where my boarding passion began. For it to be LIB, of all the snowboard brands is even better. Our roots together run deep. In 1991, while on a Ca surf trip, a teenage Jamie Lynn walked into our surf shop in San Clemente. Upon meeting we learned he was a young Pro snowboarder and we made a plan to swap a couple of surfboards for snowboards. That winter he got his first “Mayhem” surfboards, and I received, and rode, a pair of LIB tech “Matt Cummins” and “Emma Peel” snowboards. Jamie didn’t even have his own model yet. Over the next few years we continued to swap boards, and since those days I have ridden hundreds of LIB TECH boards and couldn’t imagine a better partner to collaborate on with these two projects.
