The Most Holy Trinity—June 11, 2017

Starting June 12th Summer office hours will be:

Monday through Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm

AND Closed on Fridays.

Regular hours will resume on August 14th, 2017

"I have called You by Name, You are Mine" an invitation to join the journey.

Interested in Becoming Catholic?

Have you ever asked yourself the following questions? ♦ How is the Catholic Christian faith different from other Christian religions? ♦ Will being a member of the Catholic Church make a difference in my life? ♦ Will being a Catholic help me develop and strengthen my relationship with God?

If you have asked yourself any of these questions, the RCIA process will help you answer them. Life is a journey on which a person is constantly learning, growing, and changing. This process is a step in that journey and lays the groundwork, through information and experiences, in helping you decide if you want to be a member of the Catholic faith. The RCIA will provide you the opportunity to ask questions, pray, and experience what is meant by being a Catholic Christian and entering into a relationship with God and the Catholic community.

You may be wondering: Who can be part of the RCIA ? ♦ Someone who has never been baptized. ♦ Someone who has been baptized in another faith tradition, but who wishes to become Catholic. ♦ A person who has been baptized a Catholic, but not fully catechized, that is, not having received their first Holy Communion and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation.

If you have an interest or know of someone who is interested, please contact: Bruce Zorio at [email protected] or 408-269-2226. Ext. 212

Fr. Anthony Farewell- June 25 Fr. Anthony came to St. Christopher’s in 2012 as a newly ordained “baby” priest. It has been a delight for us to watch him grow and develop into the wonderful and confident priest he is today. He has shared his many gifts with us, his honesty, authenticity and dedication to his Faith and his parish. His genuine love and concern for others is evident time and time again. His joyful sense of humor and fun, has delighted us!

He has now been transferred to a new assignment at St. William/St. Nicholas Parishes in Los Altos as of July 1st. We’re very sad to see him go. He will definitely be missed! There will be a Farewell Mass for him on Sunday, June 25, at 12:30pm, followed by a reception in Healy Hall. Please come and give Fr. Anthony your thanks and best wishes.

UPCOMING TRAINING TO BECOME A LECTOR

Our parish is in need of people willing to join the ministry of lector at Mass This ministry proclaims the Word of God for the assembly, making it under-standable, inspirational and alive. In the ministry of lector, you will vocalize the Sacred Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. There will be a train-ing session for anyone interested on Saturday, June 24th from 9:30-11:30am in the Church. Please rsvp to Loretta Pfaff, 408-264-5114 or [email protected]

From Sister Felicia:

THANK YOU, MUCHAS GRACIAS, MERCI! YOU ARE WONDERFUL. THANKS A MILLION FOR EVERYTHING. MAY GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU, SHOW HIS KINDNESS TO YOU, AND GIVE YOU PEACE.

I thank many of you for generous monetary gifts to me and other gifts. Your messages on the cards I will treasure for a long time. And I am touched by your overflowing generosity in your donations to the Sis-ters of St. Francis in Tanzania and their work with the lepers. I want to share a story of Mama Rosalia who has leprosy. She was separated from her family and living with others who had the same disease. Some-one started a false rumor that she was a witch, so they banished her and made her live apart from them with-out any shelter. One of our Indonesian Sisters cele-brated her jubilee of religious profession and gave her jubilee gift money to help build Mama Rosalia a small house to live in. Our Tanzanian Sisters helped build the house for her. She was so happy that, though her feet were very painful, she was smiling as she did a little dance to show her gratitude.

A spirituality of communion indicates above all the heart’s contemplation of the mystery of the Trinity dwelling in us, and whose light we must also be able to see shining on the face of the brothers and sisters around us.

St. John Paul II, “Novo Millennio Ineunte”

At times we can be self-absorbed, Lord, help us to open our hearts to others and to serve those who are the most vulnerable.

Pope Francis@Pontifex, 2 June 2014

In some ways today’s scriptures for Trinity Sunday are a story of discovery…the discovery of God…the discovery of who God is, what God is like and what God offers to us. Our God is a social God.

On the mountain, Moses finds a God with whom he can converse in some way. Moses finds a God with whom he wants to walk. Moses asks this God to journey with all the people.

Again and again, in the scriptures we discover a God of relationship. God is more than totally other. We discover a God traveling with us and with the whole community. Our God is a social God…a God who is concerned with our world and its people.

The second reading reminds us that the relationship that exists within God (Trinity) also mirrors the rela-tionship that should exist within us as a human com-munity…a relationship of mutuality and support…a relationship of love and respect. Jesus reminds us in the gospel that God travels with us not to condemn but to love…to be of help to all of us.

Our teaching about God and the great mystery of God is a social teaching. As God is a social being, so are we. Any good theology of God has social impli-cations. It calls us to social values. Our religious faith involves a community of mutual support and discovery. It involves a set of values that we share in common. We are concerned with the issues of the world and everyday life. We are concerned with jus-tice and peace. We focus on the common good. We see God in all people and all of creation. We have a special concern for the poor. We have hope in the midst of all the problems and challenges of the world.
