The design and construction of your landscape is important…from the intricacies of windowpanes, to the way you make snow or create a natural-looking pond. Adding holiday touches is a must. When so many entries are being judged, it’s the little things that make the winner stand out. The judges strictly enforce the rules. Points are deducted for infractions. (Examples of infractions: a non-edible product is visible on your entry; a pond is made with a mirror; toothpicks are used for fences; your base is larger than specified size or is not suitable to your presentation.) Please make sure you read and understand all the rules ! Most of all have fun and enjoy the simple treasures of this Holiday Season. Pre-Baked gingerbread kits are available for sale at many local stores and can be used for the competition. Kits have all you need to get started. (This icing is excellent for use in gingerbread construction, both for putting pieces together and making mounds of billowing snow. Keep covered, as this sets quickly.) 3 large egg whites at room temperature 1/2 tsp. Cream of tartar 1 pound of 10X confectioners sugar, sifted Place ingredients in large bowl of electric mixer. Hints and Tips on How to be a Winner

Here’s the inside information on how the

judges look at your entry. The quality of your

construction and distinctive details are given

extraordinary attention by the judges. The design

and construction of your landscape is

important…from the intr icacies of

To enter your Gingerbread Creation, please

complete this entry form, clip and return it to

Kalmbach Memorial Park by November 30, 2017.

Gingerbread Creations will be judged the week of

December 5th and displayed December 9th, 2017

from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm for the

Macungie Holiday.

Entry Form due before

November 30, 2017

1.Individual, family, or group may enter a creation. Please designate one representative on entry form.

2. Fill out the entry form and return it to Kalmbach M e mo r i a l P a r k 2 0 0 C o t t o n S t r e e t Macungie, before November 30, 2017. A single creation may not be entered in more than one category.

3. All entries must be brought to Kalmbach Park on Sunday, December 3, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

4. Entries will be judged on appearance, creativity, precision of construction, decoration detail, use of gingerbread, color, and adherence to guidelines.

5. Entries will be judged the week of December 4, 2017 and must remain on display for Macungie Holiday December 9, 2017 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

6. All entries must be picked up either Saturday, December 9 between the hours of 4:00 - 6:00 pm or Sunday, December 10, between the hours of 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Kalmbach Park reserves the right to dispose of entries remaining after the above date.

7. Creations must be constructed primarily of gingerbread and icing. Non-visible interior supports of other material are allowed as are pre-made gingerbread kits.

8. The entire visual display must be made of edible materials with the exception of the surface it is mounted upon. Paint or ribbon are approved to decorate the outer edge of the base only.

9. Children’s entry should have a non pliable sturdy base appropriate to the size of their creation for easy transport. Base should not exceed 20” x 20.”

10. All other gingerbread entries must be created on a sturdy foundation; plywood is preferred. Base can be no larger than 24” x 24.” Smaller is fine.

11. Kalmbach Park reserves the right to remove any entry that begins to look in disrepair or is found to be inappropriate to display.

Official Rules & Regulations 1. CHILDREN’S GINGERBREAD CREATION

FOR KIDS ONLY!

Three age categories to enter: 7 & under, 8 - 12,

or 13 - 17. Use your favorite candy, chocolate,

cookies, or other delicious edible to design and

decorate a gingerbread creation. Let your imagination

run ‘Yuletide Wild’! Stand back adults and let the kids

get creative. Pre-made kits are allowed.

Prizes (Child) 1st: $25, 2nd: $15, 3rd: $10

Prizes (Youth) 1st: $35, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $15

Prizes (Teen) 1st: $50, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $15

2. “TRADITIONAL” GINGERBREAD HOUSE

Holidays are the time when almost everyone turns to

classic traditions for decorating ideas and inspiration.

Any structure is allowed in this category. Victorian,

colonial, modern, house, barn, cottage - you decide.

Prizes 1st: $75, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $25

3. “HOLIDAY TRANSPORTATION”

Be sure to add seasonal touches to any mode of

transportation that suits your vehicular fancy. Be it on

land, air, water, or in space, this category allows your

imagination to take you where you want to go in the

style you most prefer.

Prizes 1st: $75, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $25

4. “INCREDIBLY UNUSUAL”- 3-DIMENSIONAL

GINGERBREAD CREATION

Make a gingerbread creation that is out of the ordinary.

Gingerbread structures need not be of a traditional

design. Be creative. Let your imagination run wild!

No buildings or houses are allowed in this category.

Prizes 1st: $75, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $25

5. “PROFESSIONAL/WINNERS” CIRCLE

For those who have been trained or have been awarded

prizes in past Gingerbread Competitions. This is an

opportunity to kick it up a notch and really compete.
