July 11 Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Welcome to St. Louse Parish! Liturgy Guidelines

· Folks are highly encouraged to wear a facial covering at Mass, but it is no longer required. We do want everyone to feel comfortable, safe and welcome to wear a facial covering if they wish, because COVID is still with us and can spread.

· There will not be a Presentation of the Gifts by the faithful nor a collection. Your contributions are still needed and wel-comed! Instead, baskets will be placed near the entrance and exit. Here is a QR Code if you would like to donate online:

· Communion may be received on the hand or on the tongue.

Gloria Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen .

Responsorial Ps 85:9-10, 11-12, 13-14 R. (8) Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

Profession of Faith I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things, visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Holy: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Prayer for Pastoral Planning Lord Jesus, we give you thanks for your ministry on earth, in which you proclaimed the Kingdom of God and conversion of life. We give you thanks for your passion, death and resurrection by which you manifested the perfect love of God, offering all who believe in you the gift of eternal life. We thank you for your promise to remain with us always as we faithfully carry out your mission.

As members of your Mystical Body, the Church, we come to you seeking the gift and guidance of your Holy Spirit. Help us to become who you call us to be and to accomplish all you ask of us according to the will of the Father.

Grant us the grace of knowing you, loving you and serving you in all our brothers and sisters. Grant that our faith in you may permeate every aspect of our lives. Help us to shed all worldly ways that we may live the Gospel with truth and integrity. Grant that we may be more perfectly conformed to you and live as your witnesses in the world today. Amen.

Mother of the New Evangelization, pray for us!

Dear Friends at St. Louise,

Summer is a time to slow down, take vacations, go to the park, go swimming…. It is oftentimes refreshing to have a different pace of life for a while. But, that can sometimes also mean other things that are a part of our regular schedule might fall to the wayside – including prayer.

Here are three guilt-free ways to adjust your prayer life to the “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.” One is to just say silently, “Jesus, have mercy on me.” I came across this suggestion in a short spiritual book I’ve been reading. I have found that even in the midst of activity, this simple prayer can give me peace. Give it a try, either as a way to begin a prayer routine or if you find your summer schedule has thrown your usual prayer routine off.

A second suggestion, especially if you are on a road trip, is to pray the rosary. One of the memories that I have growing up was praying the rosary in the car as a family, on our way to see my grandmother in Vancouver, B.C. It took about 50 minutes by car to drive there from Deming, Washington, where I grew up. The 15 minutes or so that it took to pray the rosary seemed to pass quickly. And now, there are plenty of apps and other audio versions of the rosary you can use if you’d like someone else to lead and you just pray along while driving.

A third idea is, whatever you are doing – going for a picnic or a hike in the woods, gardening, or even just trying to cope with the challenges of excessive heat (I’m writing this column on June 28, at this point the hottest day on record in the Pacific Northwest), whatever it might be – just say, “I offer this to you, O Lord.”

Summer is meant to be a time of simplicity. Let your prayer life follow that direction as well.

A blessed summer to all!

Fr. Gary Zender

Padre Gary Zender

Good Start Back to School Drive

It’s the 26th year for the Back to School Drive, which starts this week and runs through Sunday, August 1. This year the Social Concerns Committee is requesting new backpacks and monetary donations for Bellevue School District students (grades K – 12) most in need. School staff recom-mend these students who also qualify for federal free and reduced-price lunches. Your donation may provide the only school supplies available for them. Please help make a difference in a student’s life by buying and donating a new backpack, and returning it to the School Bus Box, which will be located by the main entrance of the church before and after Masses on July 17/18, July 24/25 and July 31/Aug 1. Monetary donations made be made online through the St. Louise website, or there will be a box for checks and cash donations after Mass as you exit. Please make any checks out to Congre-

gations for Kids/EISCC. Check out the Congregations for Kids website at www.congregations4kids.org. Questions? Please call or email Jeanne Duncan: [email protected] or 206-552-4202. Thank you for your support!

Are you new to the Catholic Church or interested in learning more about how to become Catholic?

St. Louise Catholic Church is here to help! RCIA is an acronym we use to describe the process of becoming Catho-lic. RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It is a journey

through which seekers of faith are initiated into the Catholic Church through a process of investigation, prayer, conversion and ritual. Who is RCIA for?

· Non-Catholics who want to find out more about the Catholic faith. · Those who have not been baptized and want to become Catholic. · Those who were baptized in a Protestant church and want to become Catholic. · Those who were baptized Catholics as infants but did not complete formation

and the sacraments of Confirmation or First Eucharist.

If you have questions, we would love to walk with you. Please reach out to Katie O’Neill in the Parish Office at [email protected] or 425-214-5477.

Please note that we will be deleting all names currently on the prayer list and beginning anew as of the end of July. If there is someone you would like to place on the refreshed prayer list, please send the information to Geri Hanley ([email protected] or 425-214-5464) by July 18.
