15th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

July 12, 2020

We, the Catholic faithful of Yukon and the surrounding areas, comprise Seven Dolors Parish. We

have a rich immigrant ancestry and a diverse ethnic heritage where Christian charity prevails. We are

committed to the Eucharist, the Good News of Jesus Christ and all teachings of the Catholic Church. We

strive to minister to the needs of those we encounter on a daily basis by centering ourselves in worship,

participating in the sacramental life of the Church, and performing works of mercy. We seek to build-up the

Kingdom of God through stewardship and service under the guidance of our patroness, Mary, the Mother of God.

WELCOME DEACON BOB STAUFFER. YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS AS YOU

BEGIN YOUR MINISTRY IN THIS PARISH

Deacon Stauffer, age 60 of Adamsburg was born in Greensburg, PA. He has been married to

his wife Bonnie for 11 years. They have five children—three daughters, one son and one

stepdaughter. Bob and Bonnie also have four grandchildren—two boys and two girls.

Bob is a retired Pennsylvania State Police trooper with 25 years of service.

He is currently employed as maintenance director for St. Paul Parish, Greensburg.

He attended Seton Hill College and Saint Vincent Seminary over the last 6 years to obtain a

bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree in Ecclesial Ministry as part of the Diaconate

program.

Bob was assigned to St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon, for the past 3 years as part of the

training program.

Dear Seven Dolors Parishioners,

Fr. Frank has been delayed in the Philippines and date of his arrival in the United States is still unknown. It

is necessary to find ways to continue the life of the parish and make decisions about our ministries and

operations. I have discussed this issue at length with Monsignor Kulick, the Vicar General of the diocese, and

he approves of moving forward. Fr. Frank will be able to join in with the "program already in progress,” once

he has arrived.

I hope that I will soon be able to announce a "Committee for the restoration and revival of Parish

Life." So much has changed since the Pandemic crisis gripped our country. The accustomed ways of

practicing our faith and keeping our parish together need to adjust to the new reality.

The arrival of Deacon Bob is a significant milestone in the mapping out of the parish's future. I see him

in a role of a link between what we do now and then helping Father Frank continue on the work.

At the recent meeting of the Seven Dolors Finance Council, there was an exchange of ideas about raising

funds for the parish. A monthly ticket was discussed. Given the present circumstances, and the number of

people available to help and the restrictions on gatherings... it seems to be a good idea. Well all ideas sound

great - but the hard part is to put them into practice. Does Seven Dolors Parish have the personnel needed

for this undertaking? It would be 1,000 tickets, based on the PA lottery drawings and go off once a

month. If you are interested in being a part of this - please call the office. Once we get some names on the

list, we will schedule a meeting.

Fr. Richard, OSB

Clearance Renewal for all Volunteers & and

Employees Please watch your mail or email this month for information on renewing your clearances to serve in the various ministries/positions for Seven Dolors Church. Sunday Lectors Needed Please consider becoming a lector for our parish. If you regularly attend mass on Sunday mornings and are willing to obtain your clearances as a volunteer (we will walk you through the process), please contact the parish office at 724-722-3141. WE NEED YOU. Food Truck Rally A “Food Truck Rally” will be held at St. Edward Church in Herminie on Sunday, July 26 from 12 Noon to 6 PM (rain or shine). We will practice social distancing with tents and seating so you may “eat-in” or “take-out”. Featured will be 5 food trucks offering meal items and 2 trucks offering dessert items. Beverages will be available including Beer & Wine. The afternoon will also include Raffle Baskets, and other selective games of chance. Music provided by the Woods Family Trio. All CDC guidelines will be in place. All are welcome!

Daily Masses At the beginning of the pandemic, when the churches closed, the Bishop asked the priests to say Mass daily, in private, without people being present. During that period Mass was said for the follow intentions: March 18: Fr. Paul R. Stivason (Frank Lovato) March 25: Violet “Vi” Krance (Children & Grandchildren) April 8: John Valdiserri (Gerald & Rose Krance)-moved from 2/11/20 April 15: Tom & Jessie Jerick (Fred & Aileen Kucinic) April 27: Janene Ferris Witchey(Dan & Joell Miller) April 29: Steve Milicevich (Lauren Dana David) May 6: Samuel P. Gabonay (Agnes Gabonay) May 11: Albert Cosalter, Sr. (Al & Carrie Cosalter) June 1: Janene Ferris Witchey (Lauren Dana David) June 15: Rudolph Stanish (Frank Lovato) June 17: Jessie Jerick (Lorraine Flanders) June 22: Stephen Magga (Donna Magga) June 29: Charles Waltonbaugh (Al & Carrie Cosalter) Please note: It is unfortunate that even before the lockdown, etc. the attendance at daily Masses at Seven Dolors had dwindled to just a few souls and usually several were from other parishes. Even with the low attendance, the Masses continued. But now, we are in the post-lockdown phase. The church has to be sanitized after each use. Given the fact that now the church must be sanitized after each use, and due to the low numbers, the daily Masses are suspended until conditions are better and safer. As I have stated time and time again….the health and safety of our parishioners are our top priorities. Your patience and continued support in these difficult and trying times is appreciated and expected.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass Bishop Malesic desires to recognize all couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during the calendar year 2020. The Jubilarians, their children, relatives or friends should contact their local parish office to register couples for this recognition. Ideally, the Jubilarians will be invited to join the bishop for a special Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass to be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Even though circumstances may not permit participation in this Mass, all couples will receive a scroll signed by the Bishop commemorating their anniversary. We Remember Please remember in your prayers Mary F. (Shonts) Smith who was buried this past week. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
