One language in the world 1

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.1 2

The building of Babel 2

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a

plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.3 Gen 10:10; 3

And they said

one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And

they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.4 5 4

And they said,

Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto

heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the

face of the whole earth.

It is interrupted by the confusion of tongues, and the builders dispersed 5

And YHVH came down to see the city and the tower, which the

children of men builded. 6

And YHVH said, Behold, the people is one, and

they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing

will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7

Go to, let

us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not

understand one another's speech. 8

So YHVH scattered them abroad from

thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Deut

32:8; Acts 17:26; 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because YHVH did

there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did YHVH

scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.6

The generations of Shem 10

These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old,

and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood: Gen 10:22; 1Chr 1:17; 11

And Shem

lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and

2 of 16

daughters. 12

And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah: 13

And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years,

and begat sons and daughters. 14

And Salah lived thirty years, and begat

Eber: 15

And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years,

and begat sons and daughters. 16

And Eber lived four and thirty years, and

begat Peleg:7 17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and

thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. 18

And Peleg lived thirty years,

and begat Reu: 1Chr 1:25; 19 And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred

and nine years, and begat sons and daughters. 20

And Reu lived two and

thirty years, and begat Serug:8 21 And Reu lived after he begat Serug two

hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. 22

And Serug lived

thirty years, and begat Nahor: 23

And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two

hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. 24

And Nahor lived nine and

twenty years, and begat Terah:9 25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah

an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters. 26

And

Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

The generations of Terah, the father of Abram 27

Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor,

and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. Josh 24:2; 1Chr 1:26; 28 And Haran died before

his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. 29

And

Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai;

and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of

Milcah, and the father of Iscah. Gen 22:20; 30 But Sarai was barren; she had no

child. Gen 16:1-2; Gen 18:11-12;

Terah, with Abram and Lot, remove from Ur to Haran 31

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's

son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went

forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan;

and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. Josh 24:2; Neh 9:7; Acts 7:4; 32 And the

days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Haftorah - Isa 28:10-16

their untowardness to learn 9

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to

understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn

from the breasts.4 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon

precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:5 11

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.6

7 1Cor 14:21;

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause

3 of 16

the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13

But

the word of YHVH was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon

precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that

they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. 2Cor 2:16;

and their security 14

Wherefore hear the word of YHVH, ye scornful men, that rule this

people which is in Jerusalem. 15

Because ye have said, We have made a

covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the

overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we

have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

Meshiach the sure foundation is promised 16

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a

foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure

foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Ps 118:22; Matt 21:42;

Acts 4:11; Rom 9:33; Rom 10:11; Eph 2:20; 1Pet 2:6-8;

Haftorah - Zep 3:8-9

Comments: Hebrew, The Pure Language. Zephaniah 3:8 is the only verse

in the TaNaCh where every Hebrew letter including the sofits are

represented.

Zep 3:8 “Therefore wait ye upon me, saith YHVH, until the day that I

rise up to the prey: for my determination [is] to gather the nations, that I

may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, [even]

all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my

jealousy.”

Hebrew Aleph Bet

On the first row of this table is the 22 Hebrew letters plus the 5 sofits

(shaded in grey). The second row is a sequential set of numbers

representing each Hebrew letter. Those letters that have sofits are

represented as a real number with a decimal of one (e.g. mem is 13 and the

mem sofit is 13.1). These numbers are used in the figure above as a way

to map all the Hebrew letters.

Now read the very next verse…

Zep 3:9 “For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they

may all call upon the name of YHVH, to serve him with one consent”

Questions.

In the millennial Kingdom what language will be spoken?

Is the restoration and use of the Hebrew language prophetic?

Brit - 1Co 14:20-33 20

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye

children, but in understanding be men.5 Matt 18:3; Matt 19:14; Eph 4:14; 1Pet

2:1-2;

21 In the law it is written, With [men of] other tongues and other lips

will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear

me, saith the Lord. Deut 28:49; Isa 28:11;

as to their true and proper end 22

Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to

them that believe not: but prophesying [serveth] not for them that believe

not, but for them which believe. 23

If therefore the whole church be come

together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in

[those that are] unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are

mad? 24

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or

[one] unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 25

And thus are

the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on [his] face

he will worship Elohim, and report that Elohim is in you of a truth.

The true use of each is taught

5 of 16

26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you

hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an

interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

and the abuse taxed 27

If any man speak in an [unknown] tongue, [let it be] by two, or at the

most [by] three, and [that] by course; and let one interpret.6 28 But if there

be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to

himself, and to Elohim. 29

Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the

other judge. 30

If [any thing] be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the

first hold his peace. 31

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may

learn, and all may be comforted. 32

And the spirits of the prophets are

subject to the prophets. 33

For Elohim is not [the author] of confusion, but

of peace, as in all churches of the saints.7

Gospel Harmony – John 2:13-3:21

The first cleansing of the temple at the Passover 13

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Y‟shua went up to

Jerusalem, 14

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and

doves, and the changers of money sitting: Matt 21:12; Mark 11:15; Luke

19:45; 15

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them

all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the

changers' money, and overthrew the tables; 16

And said unto them that sold

doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of

merchandise. 17

And his disciples remembered that it was written, The

zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. Ps 69:10;

He foretells his death and resurrection 18

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou

unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Matt 12:38; Matt 16:1; Mark

8:11; Luke 11:29; John 6:30; 19

Y‟shua answered and said unto them, Destroy

this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Matt 26:61; Matt 27:40; Mark

14:58; Mark 15:29; 20

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this

temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21

But he spake

of the temple of his body. 22

When therefore he was risen from the dead,

his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they

believed the scripture, and the word which Y‟shua had said. Luke 24:8;

Many believe because of his miracles, but he will not trust himself with

them 23

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast [day],

many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24

6 of 16

But Y‟shua did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men],

25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in

man. 1Sam 16:7; 1Chr 28:9; Ps 7:9; Ps 103:14; Jer 11:20; Jer 17:10; Jer 20:12;

John 6:64;

Meshiach teaches Nicodemus the necessity of regeneration 1

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the

Jews: John 19:39; 2

The same came to Y‟shua by night, and said unto him,

Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from Elohim: for no man can

do these miracles that thou doest, except Elohim be with him. John 7:50;

John 19:39; John 9:16; John 9:33; Acts 10:38; 3

Y‟shua answered and said unto

him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot

see the kingdom of Elohim.1 4

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man

be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's

womb, and be born? 5

Y‟shua answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the

kingdom of Elohim. Titus 3:5; 6

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and

that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Rom 8:5; 7

Marvel not that I said

unto thee, Ye must be born again.2 8

The wind bloweth where it listeth,

and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh,

and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9

Nicodemus

answered and said unto him, How can these things be? John 6:52; 10

Y‟shua

answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not

these things? 11

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know,

and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. John 7:16;

John 8:28; John 12:49; John 14:24; John 3:32; 12

If I have told you earthly

things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly

things? 13

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down

from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven. John 6:62; Eph 4:9;

of faith in his death 14

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must

the Son of man be lifted up: Num 21:9; 2Kgs 18:4; John 8:28; John 12:32; 15

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:36;

the great love of Elohim towards the world 16

For Elohim so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting

life. Rom 5:8; Rom 8:31; 1John 4:9; John 3:36; Luke 19:10; 1John 5:10; 17

For

Elohim sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the

7 of 16

world through him might be saved. Luke 9:56; John 9:39; John 12:47; 1John

4:14;

and the condemnation for unbelief 18

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not

is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the

only begotten Son of Elohim. John 5:24; John 6:40; John 6:47; John 20:31; 19

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men

loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 1:5; 20

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,

lest his deeds should be reproved.3 21

But he that doeth truth cometh to the

light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in

Elohim. Eph 5:8; Eph 5:13;

Epistle - Heb 7

Meshiach Y’shua is a priest after the order of Melchisedec 1

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high Elohim,

who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed

him; Gen 14:18; 2

To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first

being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of

Salem, which is, King of peace; 3

Without father, without mother, without

descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like

unto the Son of Elohim; abideth a priest continually.1 4

Now consider how

great this man [was], unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the

tenth of the spoils. 5

And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who

receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of

the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they

come out of the loins of Abraham: Num 18:21; Deut 18:1; Josh 14:4; 2Chr

31:5; 6

But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of

Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.2

Gen 14:20; 7

And

without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 8

And here men

that die receive tithes; but there he [receiveth them], of whom it is

witnessed that he liveth. 9

And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth

tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10

For he was yet in the loins of his father,

when Melchisedec met him.

and so far more excellent than the priests of Aaron's order 11

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it

the people received the law,) what further need [was there] that another

priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after

the order of Aaron? Gal 2:21; 12

For the priesthood being changed, there is

made of necessity a change also of the law. 13

For he of whom these things

8 of 16

are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at

the altar. 14

For [it is] evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which

tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. Isa 11:1; Matt 1:3; 15

And

it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there

ariseth another priest, 16

Who is made, not after the law of a carnal

commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17

For he testifieth,

Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Ps 110:4;

Heb 5:6; 18

For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going

before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19

For the law made

nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [did]; by the which we

draw nigh unto Elohim.3

Acts 13:39; Rom 3:28; Rom 8:3; Gal 2:16; John 1:17;

Rom 3:21; 20

And inasmuch as not without an oath [he was made priest]: 21

(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him

that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou [art] a

priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)4

Ps 110:4; 22

By so much

was Y‟shua made a surety of a better testament. 23

And they truly were

many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of

death: 24

But this [man], because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable

priesthood.5 25

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that

come unto Elohim by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for

them.6

1Tim 2:5; 1John 2:1; 26

For such an high priest became us, [who is]

holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the

heavens; 27

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up

sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did

once, when he offered up himself. Lev 9:7; Lev 16:6; Heb 5:3; 28

For the law

maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath,

which was since the law, [maketh] the Son, who is consecrated for

evermore.7

History - Jos 23 and 24

Joshua's exhortation before his death 23:1

And it came to pass a long time after that YHVH had given rest unto

Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old [and]

stricken in age.1 2

And Joshua called for all Israel, [and] for their elders,

and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said

unto them, I am old [and] stricken in age:

by former benefits 3

And ye have seen all that YHVH your Elohim hath done unto all these

nations because of you; for YHVH your Elohim [is] he that hath fought

9 of 16

for you. 4

Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain,

to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I

have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.2

by promises 5

And YHVH your Elohim, he shall expel them from before you, and

drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as

YHVH your Elohim hath promised unto you. Exod 14:14; Exod 23:27; Num

33:53; Deut 6:19; Josh 13:6; 6

Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to

do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside

therefrom [to] the right hand or [to] the left; Deut 5:32; Deut 28:14; 7

That ye

come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither

make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear [by them],

neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: Exod 23:13; Ps 16:4; Jer

5:7; Zeph 1:5; Eph 5:3; 8

But cleave unto YHVH your Elohim, as ye have

done unto this day.3

Deut 11:22; 9

For YHVH hath driven out from before

you great nations and strong: but [as for] you, no man hath been able to

stand before you unto this day.4 10

One man of you shall chase a thousand:

for YHVH your Elohim, he [it is] that fighteth for you, as he hath

promised you. Lev 26:8; Deut 32:30;

and by threatenings 11

Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love YHVH your

Elohim.5 12

Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant

of these nations, [even] these that remain among you, and shall make

marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: 13

Know for a

certainty that YHVH your Elohim will no more drive out [any of] these

nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and

scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off

this good land which YHVH your Elohim hath given you. 14

And, behold,

this day I [am] going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your

hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good

things which YHVH your Elohim spake concerning you; all are come to

pass unto you, [and] not one thing hath failed thereof. 15

Therefore it shall

come to pass, [that] as all good things are come upon you, which YHVH

your Elohim promised you; so shall YHVH bring upon you all evil things,

until he have destroyed you from off this good land which YHVH your

Elohim hath given you. 16

When ye have transgressed the covenant of

YHVH your Elohim, which he commanded you, and have gone and

served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of

YHVH be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the

good land which he hath given unto you.

Joshua assembles the tribes at Shechem 24:1

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called

for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for

their officers; and they presented themselves before Elohim.

A brief history of Elohim's benefits, from Terah 2

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith YHVH Elohim of

Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, [even]

Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served

other gods. Deut 26:5; Gen 11:26; Gen 11:31; 3

And I took your father

Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the

land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac. Gen 12:1; Gen

21:2; 4

And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount

Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt. Gen

25:24; Gen 36:8; Gen 46:1; 5

I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued

Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought

you out. Exod 3:10; Exod 12:37; 6

And I brought your fathers out of Egypt:

and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers

with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea. Exod 14:1; 7

And when they

cried unto YHVH, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and

brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen

what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season. 8

And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other

side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand,

that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

Num 21:21; Num 21:33; 9

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose

and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to

curse you: Num 22:5; Deut 23:4; Judg 11:25; 10

But I would not hearken unto

Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

11 And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of

Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the

Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the

Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand. Josh 3:14; Josh 6:1; Josh 6:20;

Josh 10:8; Josh 11:8; 12

And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them

out from before you, [even] the two kings of the Amorites; [but] not with

thy sword, nor with thy bow. Exod 23:28; Deut 7:20; Ps 44:3; 13

And I have

given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not,

and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted

not do ye eat. Deut 6:10-12;

He renews the covenant between them and Elohim

11 of 16

14 Now therefore fear YHVH, and serve him in sincerity and in truth:

and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the

flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye YHVH.

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve YHVH, choose you this day

whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that

[were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in

whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve YHVH. 16

And the people answered and said, Elohim forbid that we should forsake

YHVH, to serve other gods; 17

For YHVH our Elohim, he [it is] that

brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of

bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in

all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we

passed: 18

And YHVH drave out from before us all the people, even the

Amorites which dwelt in the land: [therefore] will we also serve YHVH;

for he [is] our Elohim. 19

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve

YHVH: for he [is] an holy Elohim; he [is] a jealous Elohim; he will not

forgive your transgressions nor your sins. 20

If ye forsake YHVH, and

serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you,

after that he hath done you good. Josh 23:15; 21

And the people said unto

Joshua, Nay; but we will serve YHVH. 22

And Joshua said unto the people,

Ye [are] witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you YHVH, to

serve him. And they said, [We are] witnesses. 23

Now therefore put away,

[said he], the strange gods which [are] among you, and incline your heart

unto YHVH Elohim of Israel. 24

And the people said unto Joshua, YHVH

our Elohim will we serve, and his voice will we obey. 25

So Joshua made a

covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance

in Shechem. Exod 15:25;

A stone the witness of the covenant 26

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of Elohim, and

took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that [was] by the

sanctuary of YHVH. 27

And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this

stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of YHVH

which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye

deny your Elohim. 28

So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his

inheritance.

Joshua's age, death, and burial 29

And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the

servant of YHVH, died, [being] an hundred and ten years old. 30

And they

buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which [is] in

mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash. Josh 19:50; Judg 2:9;

12 of 16

31 And Israel served YHVH all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the

elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of

YHVH, that he had done for Israel.1

Joseph's bones are buried 32

And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out

of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob

bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces

of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.2 Gen

50:25; Exod 13:19;

Eleazar dies 33

And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill [that

pertained to] Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.

Commentary - Year 1 Sabbath 9

Genesis 11:1-32 - Zephaniah 3:8-13 - (No Psalm) - 1

Corinthians 14:20-33

“Blessed are You, Yahweh our God, King of the Universe,

Who has sanctified us by His Word, and instructed us to count the Omer.

Today is forty-six days of the Omer; it is six weeks and four days of the

Omer.”

Vayhee Chal-haaretz Shaphah / The Whole Earth Became

It was the year A.M. 1996 (Anno Mundi – Year of the World), 340 years

after the flood. Noah (who was born only 126 years after Adam died)

would live ten more years, and Abraham was forty-eight. All of the

nations were in the one area, and they all spoke the original Holy

Language.

13 of 16

Commentary:

(V.1) Since Adam, the whole world had used the same language and the

same words.

God had commanded the descendents of Noah to replenish the earth

(v.8:17). They had multiplied to a population with seventy family heads

(ch.10). But, these seventy families stayed in Iraq, and built a great city

with a tower to make a name for themselves. God came, at Shavuot, and

gave each clan a different language, thus causing the dispersion that He

formerly commanded. Since the people‟s attempted communications

seemed as babbling, the place is called Babel.

The time of this reading – the Sabbath before Hag Shavuot – hints that the

dispersion of Babel was a Shavuot occurrence.

Adam had known Lamech for 56 years, and Lamech had known Shem, his

grandson, for 95 years. Though Abraham was the ninth generation after

Shem, Shem outlived Abraham!

The confusion of languages occurred at Babel in the year A.M. 1996.

Noah would live for another 10 years. Shem would live for another 152

years. Abraham was 48 years of age.

The point here is: Adam, Lamech, Shem, and Abraham all spoke the same

original language.

Abraham had good opportunity to acquire much knowledge of Adam‟s

time and Noah‟s time. Adam and Noah lived for most all of the first two

millenniums of the world, and Abraham knew Noah.

Last week we saw the names of the seventy nations that would be divided

by languages and dispersed throughout the world. Among them were

Noah‟s son Shem, his grandson Shelah, and his great-grandson Peleg. In

Genesis 10:25 we read, “the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the

earth was divided.” Peleg died at 239 years of age, in the year of the

dispersion of the seventy nations from Babel. However, before Peleg‟s

death at Babel, he knew his great-great-great-grandson Abraham for 48

years.

God‟s covenant, of which we are partakers, was with Abraham. Abraham

was called a Hebrew, which means „From the other side‟ – prior to the

dispersion and confusion.

After the dispersion, Abraham had a son – Isaac, and a grandson – Jacob,

and twelve great-grandsons – including Joseph. Joseph knew Hebrew –

the language „from the other side‟, as well as the language of Egypt

(Genesis 42).

This dispersion is the origin of “the languages of men and angels” (1

Corinthians 13:1), that is the languages of the seventy nations and Hebrew

(Hebrew being the language of the Angels of the Synagogues – see

Synagogue/Church).

We start with one language (see www.hebrewworld.com). Then God

separates seventy languages (Genesis 11). Then God tells Israel, who

speaks Hebrew, that He will correct them with people of foreign languages

– Gentiles (Isaiah 28:11). Then God says that, in the New World, He will

give people back the pure language, that they may worship Him in one

accord (Zephaniah 3:9). Even before that, Yahweh says that five cities in

Egypt will learn Hebrew and swear allegiance to Him (Isaiah 19:18).

About 4000 years ago was the dispersion, with languages confused at

Shavuot/Pentecost. Then, about 3300 years ago, the Torah was given at

Mt.Sinai, traditionally in 70 languages. Then, about 1900 years ago, again

at Shavuot, the Gospel was given in many languages of the nations (Acts

2).

Paul tells us that we should grow up in our understanding of the Word of

God, and think in a mature way. Only in learning sin should we remain

babes. We should not slander others, nor put down others – trying to exalt

ourselves. We should speak in a manner that is spiritually profitable for

others. JKM: The “art of communication” or how to deliver the message

without being part of the message.

Old English is often used today to create a mystique. "Unknown tongues"

is the Old English term for "foreign languages". The mystique is used to

perpetuate modern false doctrine: "unknown tongues" does not mean

jibberish or "tongues of angels" or an unknown-to-the-speaker prayer

language,

15 of 16

In the Synagogue, when we have people of different languages, we should

not speak in a language that is not understood by all, except that we

translate for them (1Cor 14:23). Translating is for the purpose of allowing

outsiders to understand, or else how should they come to faith?

"Prophecy" means "expounding Torah"; foretelling the future can be an

incidental part. When one is expounding the Torah passage in Synagogue,

if another knows a fuller explanation, the first should wait until the latter

speaks; then others may judge (1 Corinthians 14:24-33). There should be

no situation, like today's common unbiblical "Pastor" or "Rabbi" position,

where one person's teaching is the sole and final word.

When the seven readers are called on Sabbath to read the Torah portions,

the overseer (Angel of the Synagogue) watches over their shoulders (thus

the term "overseer") to ensure that every word is read correctly. The

important thing is for Torah – God's Word – to be heard accurately. This is

16 of 16

not to embarrass a reader: each reader's desire should be for the Torah, for

the hearer, not for himself.

In our situation, when anything is read, recited, or sung in Hebrew, it

should be translated into English. If we have Russian or Spanish visitors, it

is proper to translate for them. If we have some hearing-impaired among

us, it is proper to sign for them (even though this is speaking in hands, not

tongues :-) .

Genesis 5:29 Now he called his name Noah, saying, "This one will give

us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the

ground which Yahweh has cursed."

Genesis 10:25 Two sons were born to Eber; the name of the one was

Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided;
