Saint Rose will continue celebrating Las Posadas thru Sunday,

. Traditionally, Las Posadas are held for nine

nights and are a representation of Mary and Joseph’s journey

to find shelter (posada). Each night will consist of songs, a

rosary, prayer and food. We hope your family can join us for

this wonderful tradition. We would love to celebrate these

evenings as one community.

Santa Rosa continuará celebrando Las Posadas hasta el

JESUS IN MARY

On December 12, we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of

Guadalupe. Today for the 4th Sunday of Advent, we have the

gospel of the Visitation when Mary went to visit her older cousin

Elizabeth. Mary has just heard the news from the Archangel

Gabriel that she is the Mother of God! When she comes to

Elizabeth, therefore, she is pregnant with Jesus. The image on

the tilma of Guadalupe also shows a woman who is pregnant.

Mary brings Jesus to Elizabeth and to St. Juan Diego in her

womb. Elizabeth even says: "Blessed is the fruit of your womb." Jesus is in Mary

so that she brings Him everywhere she goes. In both of these events, the

presence of Jesus in Mary has dramatic consequences. The baby John the

Baptist leaps for joy in Elizabeth's womb, and both John and Elizabeth are filled

with the Holy Spirit. Jesus in Mary at Guadalupe causes the conversion of the

indigenous people of Mexico since they see that God is with them in Mary.

In these closing days of Advent, stay with Mary, and you will be staying with

Jesus. Be still and calm and prayerful with her. And at this Mass, realize that in

receiving Holy Communion Jesus is in you! Be very mindful of carrying Him

worthily to others in yourself. Mary shows us the way.

Faithfully,

Fr. Baker

María llevó a Jesús a

Fielmente,

P. Baker

CARE FOR THE CHURCH

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to

those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10.

Saint Rose is in need of parishioners who desire to do “hands on work” for our

household of faith. If you would like to become a volunteer Sacristan in

preparing the Church, altar, candles, vestments, linens, etc. for Mass please

contact Paula Farmer at 615-974-7676. A training session will be held on

January 31. Please plan on joining us and learn how you can grow in service,

spirit and social interaction.

driving around town or at home or on line. Jesus is waiting for you to listen to Him

and His church this Advent and Christmas season. Remember also to spend

some time in adoration, go to confession and think of something to give Jesus,

after all it is His birthday we are celebrating so give him a gift of your time or

charity to someone in need. God bless and have a blessed Advent and

ChristmasKyour friends at Saint Rose Radio.

HAITI

Our Rose-Merci Clinic immediately had access to prenatal vitamins! This is a

boon since such vitamins are very expensive and not easily had on the island.

Vitamin Angels not only provides these vitamins but also multivitamins for infants

through age 5 years and de-worming medication needed as often as every six

months to prevent intestinal worms from consuming as much as 20% of daily

nutritional intake which causes malnutrition. For the very young, de-worming is a

matter of life and death. Within the church compound, our wells provide clean

water. We support good doctors, nurses, a lab tech, medications and basic

healthcare in our clinic. And in the Maternity Center, pregnant women are giving

birth to babies that are born healthy. The prenatal care and post-birth care help

prevent malnutrition. And we provide the school children a nutritious mid-morning

meal each school day. Current statistics collected at our Rose-Merci Clinic show

evidence of change over time.

SAINT ROSE FOOD PANTRY

The Saint Rose Food Pantry serves

approximately 100 families per month

on average. A bag/box of food

consists of the following:

2 cans green beans/peas

2 cans corn/carrots

1 can/bag beans

2 cans soup

2 cans tuna

1 can chicken

1 can fruit

2 boxes Mac-n-cheese

1 bag/box rice or instant potatoes

1 box of spaghetti/pasta

1 jar/can pasta sauce

1 jar peanut butter

1 box oatmeal/cereal

1 package dry milk

2 Ramen Noodles

1 box tuna/chicken helper when

available

Bread products donated from Publix

on New Salem Highway

We add other items to the bags as

they are donated. Each bag

distributed has a value of

approximately $15.00. Just thought

everyone would like to know how

donations are used. The St. Rose

Food Pantry appreciates each and

every donation. Thank you for your

continued support of this ministry!

OUR MISSION IS TO ASSIST

SAINT ROSE PARISHIONERS

and those in the community having financial

difficulties. We provide limited monetary assistance

as funds allow and/or referrals to other local

resources. All personal information is kept in utmost

confidence. Please call BRIDGE at 615-692-0159

on Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 am. If

you would like to donate to the BRIDGE Ministry,

please indicate this in the memo area of your check

or on your monthly Choice Gifts envelope and place

it in the collection basket. You may also bring it to the

Church office. We could use your help! If you are

interested in becoming a BRIDGE volunteer, please

more information. Kroger gift cards are needed to

assist with this ministry. Please drop them off at the
