JESUS IN MARY
On December 12, we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe. Today for the 4th Sunday of Advent, we have the
gospel of the Visitation when Mary went to visit her older cousin
Elizabeth. Mary has just heard the news from the Archangel
Gabriel that she is the Mother of God! When she comes to
Elizabeth, therefore, she is pregnant with Jesus. The image on
the tilma of Guadalupe also shows a woman who is pregnant.
Mary brings Jesus to Elizabeth and to St. Juan Diego in her
womb. Elizabeth even says: "Blessed is the fruit of your womb." Jesus is in Mary
so that she brings Him everywhere she goes. In both of these events, the
presence of Jesus in Mary has dramatic consequences. The baby John the
Baptist leaps for joy in Elizabeth's womb, and both John and Elizabeth are filled
with the Holy Spirit. Jesus in Mary at Guadalupe causes the conversion of the
indigenous people of Mexico since they see that God is with them in Mary.
In these closing days of Advent, stay with Mary, and you will be staying with
Jesus. Be still and calm and prayerful with her. And at this Mass, realize that in
receiving Holy Communion Jesus is in you! Be very mindful of carrying Him
worthily to others in yourself. Mary shows us the way.
Faithfully,
Fr. Baker
María llevó a Jesús a
Fielmente,
P. Baker

HAITI
Our Rose-Merci Clinic immediately had access to prenatal vitamins! This is a
boon since such vitamins are very expensive and not easily had on the island.
Vitamin Angels not only provides these vitamins but also multivitamins for infants
through age 5 years and de-worming medication needed as often as every six
months to prevent intestinal worms from consuming as much as 20% of daily
nutritional intake which causes malnutrition. For the very young, de-worming is a
matter of life and death. Within the church compound, our wells provide clean
water. We support good doctors, nurses, a lab tech, medications and basic
healthcare in our clinic. And in the Maternity Center, pregnant women are giving
birth to babies that are born healthy. The prenatal care and post-birth care help
prevent malnutrition. And we provide the school children a nutritious mid-morning
meal each school day. Current statistics collected at our Rose-Merci Clinic show
evidence of change over time.
SAINT ROSE FOOD PANTRY
The Saint Rose Food Pantry serves
approximately 100 families per month
on average. A bag/box of food
consists of the following:
2 cans green beans/peas
2 cans corn/carrots
1 can/bag beans
2 cans soup
2 cans tuna
1 can chicken
1 can fruit
2 boxes Mac-n-cheese
1 bag/box rice or instant potatoes
1 box of spaghetti/pasta
1 jar/can pasta sauce
1 jar peanut butter
1 box oatmeal/cereal
1 package dry milk
2 Ramen Noodles
1 box tuna/chicken helper when
available
Bread products donated from Publix

We add other items to the bags as
they are donated. Each bag
distributed has a value of
approximately $15.00. Just thought
everyone would like to know how
donations are used. The St. Rose
Food Pantry appreciates each and
every donation. Thank you for your
continued support of this ministry!
