A Note from the Director:

When the CTG announced it was going to slate The Drowsy Chaperone in their 2016-17 Season, my theater friends were ecstatic. I seemed to be the only one without a clue as to what this show was about—I had missed it on Broadway. It received the top 2006 Tony Awards: Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Featured Actress, Best Scenic Design, and Best Costume Design plus 6 Drama Desk Awards! With a play that solid in concept, script, and design, it was a perfect choice for the CTG. I am privileged to have been chosen to direct The Drowsy Chaperone. It’s a Director’s Dream…loads of character roles, comedy and schtick! It’s also a poignant journey about finding hope and belonging. And we were blessed to have a cast of actors, who separately and together, make me pinch myself nightly! They are funny and fearless! I am thankful to all who gave their energy and talents to getting this production mounted. It was truly a project of love—for each other—for the CTG—and for you, the audience. Special thanks to Stephanie Davis and Green Room Studios for donating their space for our dance and music rehearsals--your generosity is so appreciated by our cast, Production Team, and the CTG. And special thanks to the cast who delusionally perceived themselves as my Co-Directors throughout the rehearsal process (wink, wink)! Where is Greg Finley when you need him to keep law and order? So to Robbie, Kelly, Debby, Stephie, Georgie, Dougie, Freddie, Totti, Johnny, Jimmy, Mikie, Gabby, Lydie, Stevie, Shelley, Trixie, Frankie, Ainie, Terry, Joey, and ZACH—Thank you! (We had some good laughs, didn’t we!!)

Special Thanks to:

• Our friends and family who helped with this production! • Green Room Studios, Newhall, for donating additional rehearsal space! • The Production Team of the Wizard of Oz for so kindly sharing

everyone and everything! • Diana and Taylor Rizzo for their dedicated assistance during the initial

production phases. • Kara Hayes for being a wonderful Acting Choreographer during the

auditions. • Trix, Aine, and Kelly for helping the cast. • Michael Stull and Drew Davis for their help with sets. • Ingrid Boydston and Jill McGlynn for helping us pull costumes many,

many times! • Musette and Timothy Hart for their program, video, promotion and

photo talents. • “Team 80 Days” for their kindness and assistance during rehearsals. • And to those who helped after this went to print—Thank you!!

Production Dedication: This production is dedicated to Doug’s mom. She loved the theater and loved her son. You will be missed in our audience, but we know you’re watching us from the balcony seats!

At CTG: Seussical the Musical, Damn Yankees, Anne of Green Gables, Spamalot. Her projects received numerous Goldie Awards. Joe Polinski (Choreographer) is happy to “stumble along” this season and continue to collaborate with Donna and her production team on The Drowsy Chaperone. Previously at CTG, he choreographed Seussical the Musical, Damn Yankees, and Spamalot. Joe is an actor, director, and choreographer with touring, regional, and Off-Broadway credits. Favorite shows include Godspell, Pippin, and Spamalot. Joe would like to thank the phenomenal cast, outstanding crew, highly skilled and incredibly supportive members of the production team, the multi-talented Donna Manfredi, CN, NG, Kelly Caswell, and Stephanie Klimek-Davis of Green Room Music Studios for donating rehearsal space.

Brian Maly (Set/Lighting Designer) has been involved with the CTG since 2012 when he designed the set and lighting for Anne of Green Gables. Since then, some of his other CTG set and lighting accomplishments include: Seussical, Damn Yankees and Spamalot. Brian has been working with Donna and Joe for many years, and is thrilled to be able to work with all of the talented people at the CTG;; Doug, John A, Robert, John M, Wendy and many others.

Wendy Hahn (Costumer) is recently retired from a career in public service and decided costuming a show would be fun and something to do between training for Ironman triathlons. It is also a tribute to her father, who was a motion picture costumer for 40 years. She's pretty good with a needle and thread, having started as a young child making clothes for her Barbie dolls. Wendy is blissfully married to Eric, an artisan/carpenter who has built a few things for the theater as well.

Taylor Anthony Arnone (Sound Co-Designer) is a music director, conductor, composer, producer and performer from Santa Clarita, California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Communication from The Master's College in Santa Clarita, California.
