Right from the start, the System Plural
has been more than just a versatile tile
programme: thanks to its consistently
modular structure, its carefully matched
variety of colours, sizes and surfaces, it
has established itself as an architectural
design system which permits harmonious
comprehensive solutions in the most di-
verse areas of application.
To make sure that Plural will be well pre-
pared to make its contribution to the real-
ization of the most varied architectural
concepts also in future, the successful sys-
tem has now been carefully but extensively
further developed: Plural plus is convinc-
ing by its new, up-to-date colour range,
the intelligently enlarged modular system
of sizes and innovative surface structures
which convey a new sensory experience
also from the haptic point of view.

Glazed silky-matt or glossy, the earthen-
ware wall tiles of the series Plural plus 1
prove above all in medical facilities, sani-
tary areas and hotel bathrooms. The new
oblong formats and the considerably en-
larged colour range offer almost unlimited
possibilities of individual design – also in
combination with the other series of the
system.
As all colours and sizes including the mo-
saics are available with slip-resistant surface
on request, Plural plus 2 is also perfectly
suitable for wellness areas and sanitary
rooms. The enormous variety of glazed
stoneware tiles for the wall and the floor
is complemented by useful high-quality
special pieces such as e.g. a ceramic
shower tub system.
The unglazed porcelain stoneware tiles of
the series Plural plus 3 cover various slip-
resistance groups and can be universally
used thanks to their wide range of colours.
Two of the highlights of the series are an
extensive programme of special pieces
and new designer surfaces, which create
an ambience of impressive aesthetics as
rectified large-size tiles.

The decision in favour of a certain tile sur-
face can have practical reasons (easy
cleaning), it can be based on require-
ments of the trade association (slip resis-
tance) or on aesthetic considerations. The
new System Plural plus with its unique
variety of different surfaces offers the ap-
propriate solution in every case. The
range extends from silky-matt and glossy
glazes to unglazed porcelain stoneware
and on to slip-resistant profiled and fine-
grained surfaces. The new Design sur-
faces, which are slip-resistant as well, are
also ideal for sophisticated wall design.

just as to the vivid dotted structure of the
Design Point or the striking surface of the

System Plural plus responds to the cur-
rent trends in architecture: planners from

total of 28 modern standard colours, Plural
plus is inviting highly imaginative combina-
tion. Because colours have no effect on
their own. Used together, they create colour
harmonies which accompany architectural
requirements with positive associations. In
addition, colour harmonies of different

lightnesses support the creative play with
nuances. And the modular structure of the
system offers a security which does not
restrict but provides additional creative
freedom. As all the colours of the system are
related to each other, the harmony of the
colours among themselves permits innu-
merable variations going far beyond the
effect of an individual shade. In this way,
Plural plus is a source of inspiration which
offers optimal conditions also for the realiza-
tion of future trends in architecture.
In aesthetically demanding architecture,
the choice of the tile size plays an impor-
tant part. So, for example, particularly
vivid effects are obtained with the small
(mosaic) formats, while large sizes lend
the room a representative flair. Additional
effects result from the combination of
various sizes: spacious rooms can be visual-
ly subdivided, fascinating rhythms develop
from regular changes, decorations make
large wall and floor surfaces less monoto-
nous. Planners working with Plural plus

smallest mosaic format of 2.5 x 2.5 cm
via ten in-between sizes up to the im-
pressive large sizes of 60 x 60 cm of the
Design surfaces of Plural plus.
And the new oblong formats of 20 x 40
cm and 10 x 40 cm – above all by the
trendy horizontal laying – ensure surpris-
ing effects. As nearly all sizes are available

Hydrotect proves its worth in all areas
where perfect hygiene is required. The
surface coating for wall and floor tiles
offers three important advantages:
• it has an antibacterial effect *
• it is extremely easy to clean
• it eliminates disagreeable odours
The effects are based on the principle
of the photocatalysis. The catalyst
titanium dioxide baked onto the
glaze effects a reaction between light,
oxygen and air humidity. In this
process, activated oxygen forms,
which decomposes bacteria, fungi,
algae and moss.
Hydrotect-coated tile surfaces are hy-
drophilic: instead of being repelled,
the water spreads to form a thin film.
In this way, dirt is washed down by
the water and can be easily removed.
In addition, Hydrotect decomposes
the exhaust fumes produced by in-
dustry and cars. Scientific analyses
prove that a Hydrotect facade surface
of 1000 m2 cleans the air as effectively
as 70 medium-sized deciduous trees.
The coating, which is unique in this
form, is practically indestructible. The
photocatalytic effect already activated
by normal indoor lighting or natural
light is permanently conserved. For

Dirt
With Hydrotect, dirt is washed down by the water and can thenbe easily wiped off.
Water
Better beats good. Unglazed vitri-
fied tiles are hard-wearing and resis-
tant by nature. Thanks to the Protec-
ta surface upgrading, the stain and
dirt resistance could be improved
considerably: during the firing
process, the coating applied in-
plant is ceramically bonded to the
biscuit and closes the existing “mi-
cropores“ quite natural for unglazed
ceramics. In this way, the penetra-
tion of substances forming stains is
prevented. The subsequent impreg-
nation recommended so far is no
longer required.
