There is little question that the United States has been able to extend life – but with this has come a dramatic increase in the cost of health care as a percentage of the gross national product. Population health initiatives coupled with technological innovation are aimed at decreasing health care cost while improving patient outcomes – but initiatives and innovation cost money! Mr. Shapiro has been involved in various healthcare associations and has been a frequent participant at HFMA related events.
