It was 29 years ago that a small group of people sat down to brainstorm the idea of a festival that not only brings together the finest wines in the world, but also gives back to the community through nonprofit organizations. Some of those people, like the great Marj Valvano, are still hard at work, guiding the way for those of us who are new volunteers. To them we say a heartfelt THANK YOU and from all of us, welcome to the 29th annual Cincinnati International Wine Festival’s Charity Auction and Luncheon. You are part of continuing this outstanding legacy. The Charity Auction and Luncheon is one of four annual Festival events that have helped us share an accumulated $5.64 million with the Greater Cincinnati area community. In 2018, the Wine Auction, Grand Tastings, Winery Dinners and Russ Wiles Memorial Golf Tournament raised $400,000 for 35 charities across our region.

So, THANK YOU once again – and pat yourself on the back when you raise your paddles high and often today!THANK YOU to members of the Charity Auction & Luncheon Committee. Many of them are longstanding Festival volunteers who are responsible for gathering the donated wines and items for the silent and live auctions, as well as putting together this catalog. Additional volunteers jump in to help set up and keep us organized at check-in and check-out. THANK YOU to our 2019 Honorary Chair, Mark Beringer, for taking time away from his important role as the Chief Winemaker at Beringer Vineyards to share his love of the industry with us, and to all our Luncheon table hosts from wineries participating in the 2019 Festival. They have some special wines just for you today!

THANK YOU also to auctioneer-extraordinaire Dan Greathouse of Heidelberg Distributing, who showers us with fun facts and his wine knowledge throughout the live auction.THANK YOU to the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, and the exceptional staff, who put their creativity, skills and service to work in presenting today’s exquisite luncheon. And finally, THANK YOU again for the generous support you’ve provided over the past 29 years and for many more years to come!

Former Cincinnatian Daniel Greathouse, President of Heidelberg Importing & Brokerage Company and Chief Marketing Officer, is one of the founding board members of the Cincinnati International Wine Festival and the first auctioneer for this event. For three decades, Greathouse has presided over charity auctions in the United States and the United Kingdom and is well known for his humor and his great love and knowledge of wine. Greathouse joined Ohio Valley Wine and Heidelberg in 1988 after managing Midwest area states for London-based Allied Lyons, marketing California wine brands including Clos Du Bois, William Hill, Callaway and Atlas Peak Vineyards. His naval career fortuitously placed him in wine growing regions from Northern California to Europe. In recent years Greathouse represented the American fine wine trade at the World Wine Symposium, known as the “Davos

of Wine” conducted at Villa d’Este in Northern Italy.Greathouse seeks out fine wines produced across the world to market throughout Ohio and Kentucky. His grossly arduous task of sourcing new products has taken him from Santiago, Chile through Tequila, Mexico and many wine producing regions in France, Spain and Italy. Undaunted by torturous tastings, Dan Greathouse selflessly works on, through the sun and the food, to bring great new wines to market. He is a commandeur in Bordeaux’s Commanderie du Bontemps and was featured in the American Express Black Ink wine issue.Dan served on the Board of Trustees of Economics America as well as being an active cheerleader for PBS, where he has appeared on numerous televised auctions and cooking shows. He is co-host of the “The Cork Dorks” television program filmed on locations from 110+ degree California to -10 degree Ontario, where he foolishly

picked ice wine grapes.A decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy, Dan is the recipient of numerous citations, ribbons and medals including the Navy Achievement Medal, presented by Secretary of the Navy, John F. Lehman, Jr. His unique naval role allowed him to serve in Europe alongside Britain’s Royal Air Force & Royal Navy personnel with the unusual assignment of working on land-based, as well as aboard all major warfare platforms including airplanes, helicopters, ships and submarines.Dan married his college sweetheart, artist Mary Bell Greathouse, more than 35 years ago in Cleveland Heights before striking out into the world to seek fame & fortune. He returned to Cleveland in 1997 with Mary and their countless children, some of whom are named Charles, Paul, James, Peter, Sarah, Sophia, Emma and Gabriel.

LA-16 – 750ml Cade Reserve Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2015$1,300 - $1,700Owned by former San Francisco Mayor and current California Governor Gavin Newsom, and composer/philanthropist Gordon Getty, Cade Estate was founded on Howell Mountain as a complement to the valley floor terroir of another winery they own, Pumpjack in Oakville. They also own Odette Estate Winery in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. They began strongly and continue to exhibit promise. Their organically farmed vineyard estate sits high above the fog line at an elevation of 1,850 feet. Of 54 contiguous

acres surrounding the winery, 19 are currently planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and 2 to Merlot. Robert Parker gives this 2015 vintage 95+ points and says: “Intense crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, licorice, forest floor and earth, it’s a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. Powerful, the wine is neither hot, nor rustic. Its plush tannins and long finish suggest a future of a good 20+ years, even though it is already approachable.”

LA-22 – 750ml Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 20112 – 750ml Cakebread Cellars Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon 20102 – 750ml Nickel & Nickel C.C. Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2010$700 - $1,000Two bottles each of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from three of the most well established and well-known wineries in the Valley, one from Rutherford and the other two from Oakville. All three wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Caymus Special Selection, always 100% Cabernet, has been selected twice by the Wine Spectator as the “Wine of the Year” (1984 & 1994). The 2011 received a score of 95-points from Robert Parker who says the following: “A brilliant wine and one of the stars of the vintage, the 2011 boasts aromas of blueberry pie, blackberries, cassis and white flowers. This full-bodied, velvety textured, delicious 2011 is a terrific success for the vintage.” Cakebread, in Oakville, is one of the oldest established wineries in Napa Valley having

released their first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1976. The 2010 Benchland Select was rated 95+ points by Robert Parker who said: “Offers abundant blueberry and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of spring flowers. Deep rich and full-bodied, it comes across like a great classic Napa Cabernet.” Since 1997, Nickel & Nickel, from the same family who own Far Niente, has focused on producing single-vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the appellation’s most significant AVAs. The 2010 C.C. Ranch has been rated 92 points by Wine Spectator who says the following: “Aromas of fresh leather and dark berry fold over to the palate, smooth and focused, gaining depth and length.”DONORS: Daniel and Jane Temming

LA-33 – 750ml Hundred Acre Few and Far Between Cabernet Sauvignon 2014$1,500 - $1,800One of California’s, or perhaps the world’s, most flamboyant, talented and contrarian wine producers is Napa Valley’s Jayson Woodbridge, the owner of Hundred Acre Winery. His wines, mostly 100% varietals and mostly Cabernets, are made primarily by him, with some consulting advice from Philippe Melka. All his wines are truly profound and showcase a variety of terroirs and are not easy to secure unless you are on his mailing list. The Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignons remain some of the most distinctive wines being made in Napa Valley today. The Few and Far Between vineyard, previously known as Pickett Road vineyard, comes from Jayson’s Calistoga property on the highly coveted upper slope above the

Eisele Vineyard. This is the only vineyard where a variety other than Cabernet Sauvignon is planted – it possesses a section of Cabernet Franc, which accounts for about 10% of the plantings and the wine each year. Robert Parker rates the 2014 - 96 points and says: “Medium garnet purple colored, the 2014 opens with tantalizing molten chocolate and liquid licorice notions over crème de cassis, candied violets, baked red currants, kirsch and black tea scents. The palate is full-bodied and firmly textured with ripe, grainy tannins while packed with floral and black fruit layers, finishing very long and minerally with an energetic red fruit lift.”DONORS: Bethanie Butcher & Guenter Matthews

LA-41 – 1.5ltr Levy & McClellan Proprietary Red 2014$1,500 - $1,800A magnum of fantastic Bordeaux blend from the winemakers of Harlan and Sloan. Founded in 1999 by husband and wife duo, Bob Levy and Martha McClellan, Levy & McClellan is a collaborative effort that showcases wine of uncompromised quality and expression of their origin. Their portfolio releases are among the highest priced red blends in Napa Valley, and each year the prices increase. Levy & McClellan is entirely allocated, so the wines tend to be extremely difficult to find. Robert Parker says this about this 94-96 rated wine: “The 2014 Proprietary Red is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon,

12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot from the mountainside vineyard not far from the Sonoma County Line. This looks like a relatively powerful wine, but there are only 300 cases. The wine is full-bodied, with notes of loamy soil, graphite, forest floor, blackberry and cassis with a hint of charcoal and licorice. This is a sensational effort that should drink beautifully for 25 or more years.”DONOR: Anonymous

LA-61 – 6ltr Joseph Phelps Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1986$1,500 - $1,800In the late 1960’s, Joseph Phelps was running one of the largest construction companies in the U.S. when he won the bid to build Souverain Winery (now Rutherford Hill) located a few miles outside of St. Helena. Enamored with the beautiful Napa Valley and contemplating a career change, in 1973 Joe bought a cattle ranch in Spring Valley, and began planting vineyards and construction of a winery which was completed in 1974 in time for harvest, crushing grapes for the first Insignia and the first Syrah bottlings. It put Joe Phelps and his Joseph Phelps Vineyards on the map of top Napa Valley wine producers. Most people know of Joseph Phelps Insignia, which is the winery’s flagship, but not as many are familiar with the Backus Vineyard which is only available directly from the winery. This vineyard is right across from the Oakville Crossroads

and the Screaming Eagle Vineyard and is an extremely steep but magnificent site in Napa Valley. This wine always ranks alongside Insignia with high critic ratings. This is a six-liter Imperial bottle (equivalent of 8-750ml bottles) and Robert Parker rated this wine 91 points. They say the following about this wine: “It possesses an opaque purple/black color with no lightening or amber at the edge. A huge exotic nose of sweet toasty oak, smoked herbs, grilled meats and black fruits soar from the glass. This lusty, powerful, classically structured Cabernet reveals superb richness, full body and a long sweet rich finish with no signs of fruit oxidation or deterioration.”DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

Currently working with 45 clients, Brown is responsible for 800 tons of grapes from 325 acres going into some 150 wines and has even designed several wineries. He has steadily increased his winemaking pace since driving his Honda Passport from Sumter, S.C., to Napa in 1996 and finding his footing in an industry then foreign to him. Since then, Brown, 46, has become one of Napa's most accomplished winemakers, handily guiding production of some of the region's most distinctive wines and sought-after brands. The grape he has ridden to stardom is Cabernet Sauvignon, which accounts for 85 percent of the 40,000 cases he oversees, and over the years Brown has made more than 60 Cabernets that earned classic scores

from Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. His list of clients includes names like Schrader Cellars, GTS (Tom Seaver), Casa Piena (Carmen Policy), Maybach, Revana, Round Pond, Vermeil, Stone the Crows, Pulido Walker, Riverain and Ampere. Rivers-Marie is Brown's own brand, which debuted in the early 2000’s. The label, which utilizes Brown's middle name and that of his companion, Genevieve Marie Welsh, makes a dozen-plus wines, including Sonoma-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in addition to its Napa Cabernets. Only three of these wines were rates by Robert Parker: Corona Vineyard – 95, Panek Vineyard – 97, Calistoga – 96.DONORS: Stanley and Evelyn Ignatow

LA-82 – 750ml Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon CCS Cabernet Sauvignon 20151 – 750ml Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer GIII Cabernet Sauvignon 20152 – 750ml Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon RBS Cabernet Sauvignon 2015$2,000 - $2,750Five bottles of top-rated Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the finest cult wineries in Napa Valley. Fred Schrader, the winery’s founder, came to the conclusion that he wanted to make wine in 1988 when attending the famous Napa Valley Wine Auction. In a few short years, Schrader founded his first winery with Ann Colgin, Colgin Schrader Cellars, which made their debut wine in 1992. Colgin and Schrader later dissolved their partnership and marriage. Ann Colgin retained Colgin Cellars and Fred Schrader founded Schrader Cellars in 1998 and hired Thomas Rivers Brown as his winemaker. Since then Schrader Cellars has produced benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon from the most prestigious vineyards in the Napa Valley, notably the first-growth Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville. With Thomas Brown creating wines known for

their vibrant flavor and opulent richness, their program focuses on highlighting the character and profile of three distinct Cabernet Sauvignon clonal varieties, clones 4, 6 and 337, with minimal intervention that allows the true nature of each to shine. Schrader has access to Andy Beckstoffer’s famed vineyards, including the coveted To Kalon. Schrader Cellars was sold to Constellation Brands in June 2017, but Fred Schrader continues to be involved and Thomas Brown remains the winemaker. These highly sought-after wines have the following ratings from Robert Parker: 2015 CCS – 99, 2015 GIII – 97, 2015 RBS – 98+. DONORS: George & Jeane Elliott

LA-91 each – 1.5ltr Darioush Darius II Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, 2013, 2014$1,500 - $2,000Our 2018 Honorary Chair, Darioush Khaledi, is supporting the Cincinnati International Wine Festival for yet another year with his generous donation of three magnums of the crown jewel of the Darioush Estate, Darius II, a refined, age-worthy collectible which captures the exceptional qualities of each vintage from their Napa Valley vineyards. These bottles are not only collectible for their content, but also for the unique art on their labels. Since the first vintage of Darius II in 1999, Darioush has sought to highlight ancient traditions in Persian Art, honoring Proprietors Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi’s heritage. Each vintage bears a detail from a Persian artwork, now a visual

hallmark. The 2012 label depicts a work of art which highlights the evolution of ancient decorative art and architecture, the 2013 depicts a masterwork of silk tapestry which was a gift from the Shah of Iran to the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1877, and the 2014 label depicts the tradition of the Saghi, or Wine Bearer, an influential and heralded position in the ancient Persian Royal courts. The Wine Spectator has rated the 2012 – 92 points and Robert Parker has rated the 2013 – 96 points and the 2014 – 94 points.DONOR: Darioush Khaledi

LA-103 – 750ml Abreu Madrona Ranch Proprietary Red 2014$2,100 - $2,500The work that the famous viticulturist and wine producer David Abreu does, along with his assistant Brad Grimes, is at the top of the qualitative hierarchy in California, if not the entire world. His four vineyards produce ravishing wines of great richness, complexity and aging potential. Even in vintages where others might stumble, such as 2011, somehow Abreu’s magic in the vineyard translates into wines of fabulous intensity and compelling quality in the bottle. None of this comes cheap, nor are these wines easy to access as virtually everything is sold via a mailing list and to a handful of the nation’s finest restaurants. Abreu’s total acreage is around 70 acres, with Abreu selling some of the fruit to other high-quality wineries (i.e., Colgin). The result is that only

250-300 cases of each of the four-separate vineyard-designated wines are produced in each vintage. Their blends tend to be Cabernet Sauvignon with increasing percentages of Cabernet Franc included. Robert Parker gives the 2014 Madrona Ranch 99 points and says the following: “Deep garnet purple in color and sings of crushed blackberries, warm plums and black raspberries with menthol, potpourri, chocolate box and licorice nuances – compelling. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with great freshness, finishing very long with mineral notions. This will be extremely long lived.”DONORS: George & Jeane Elliott

LB-13 – 750ml Penfolds Grange 2014$2,300 - $2,700Penfolds Grange (until the 1989 vintage labeled Penfolds Grange Hermitage) is an Australian wine, made predominantly from the Shiraz (Syrah) grape and usually a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is widely considered Australia's "first growth" and its most collectible wine. The first vintage of Penfolds Grange was made on an experimental basis in 1951 by winemaker Max Schubert, while he was employed at Penfolds. As recently as 2004, a single bottle of 1951 Grange Hermitage sold at auction for over $50,000. In the world of wine,

Penfolds is synonymous with excellence, innovation, and even a little magic. Robert Parker and Wine Spectator both rate this 2014 – 98 points and Parker says: “Rich, concentrated and intense, it delivers exactly what we’ve come to expect from this Penfolds iconic wine. It’s full-bodied, velvety in feel and loaded with plummy fruit, framed in vanilla and cedar. Dense, powerful, and tannic, it should prove to be long lived, even by Grange standards.”

LB-21 – 6ltr Château Bellevue Mondotte St. Émilion 2005 $4,000 - $4,500Château Bellevue Mondotte is a tiny, 5-acre wine property on the limestone plateau of St. Émilion, bought in 2001 by Gérard Perse, owner of the celebrated premier Grand Cru Classé Château Pavie. Merlot comprises over 90% of the blend with a dash of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard faces south and the average age of the vines is 45 years. The wine falls very much into the garagiste camp, being aged in 100% new oak and produced from tiny yields. Michel Rolland is the consultant oenologist. After 6 months ageing on its lees the wine remains in barrel for a further 18 months before

being bottled unfiltered and unfined. In 2005 only 420 cases were produced. Wine Spectator, who rated this wine 97 points, comments as follows: “The crushed blackberry and raspberry are wonderful in this wine. Full-bodied, with superpolished tannins and loads of ripe fruit, toasty oak and coffee on the palate. Goes on and on. An opulent young red.”DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

LB-31 – 6ltr Château Trotanoy Pomerol 2005$3,000 - $3,500One of the oldest wine-making properties in Pomerol, Trotanoy was listed as second only to Petrus in all of Pomerol in the 1868 first edition of the influential wine manual Cocks & Feret. Despite this great reputation, Trotanoy was nonetheless often overlooked in the late 19th and well into the 20th century, as were many right bank properties. The Giraud family held the property for more than two centuries before selling to the Percesse family in the mid-20th century. They weren’t in the drivers seat for long however; financial difficulties struck the family and by 1953 Jean-Pierre Moueix had bought it for what was to be the second purchase in the empire he was building, JP Moueix, also the owner of Petrus. The firm still holds Trotanoy today and Jean-Pierre’s son,

Christian, and grandson, Eduoard, co-manage the estate as they do a great number of properties in the JP Moueix stable. Today Trotanoy is considered one of the great-growths of Pomerol. This is a 6-liter Imperial bottle, the equivalent of 8 – 750ml bottles, and the Wine Spectator has rated the 2005 - 97 points. They say the following: “Gorgeous, with fig bread, licorice root, ganache and loam notes, this sports a hefty profile, with dark, earthy components matched to a well of mulled black currant and blackberry fruit. Shows a strong spine through the finish, revealing a tug of graphite that won't quit. Best from 2020 through 2040.”DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

LB-56 – 750ml Taittinger Rosé Comtes de Champagne Brut 2006$1,250 - $1,500

In 1932 Pierre Taittinger bought the Château de la Marquetterie from the wine house of Forest-Fourneaux and from 1945 to 1960 the business was run by Pierre's third son François. Under his direction, the Taittinger cellars were established in the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise, built in the thirteenth century. After François' death in an accident, his brother Claude took over and directed the business from 1960 to 2005. It was during this time that Taittinger became a champagne house of world renown. Taittinger was sold in July 2005 to the U.S. hotel group Starwood but in May 2006, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger,

Claude’s son, purchased the business back for 660 million euros. The vineyards cover 714 acres and there are 12 to 13 million bottles in stock. The Comtes de Champagne Rosé Brut Cuvee, which is always vintage, is only made when the year has been exceptional, and all the demanding quality criteria has been met. This 2006 vintage was rated 95 by Wine Spectator who said the following: “A lovely Champagne, offering a rich and expressive palate of dried strawberry and white peach fruit, with toasted hazelnut, pastry, candied ginger and lemon curd flavors set in a fine and elegant frame. Long and creamy on the satiny finish.”

LB-62 – 750ml Gaja Darmagi Langhe 20102 – 750ml Gaja Darmagi Langhe 20112 – 750ml Gaja Darmagi Langhe 2012$1,500 - $1,800Angelo Gaja forever changed the world's notion of Piedmont wines when he released this historic wine for the first time in 1985 (with the 1982 vintage), made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes planted in the township of Barbaresco. According to the often-told legend, Angelo Gaja's father exclaimed "darmagi!" upon learning that his son had planted Cabernet Sauvignon in vineyards previously devoted to Piedmont's traditional Nebbiolo grape. Akin to the French quel dommage, the Piedmontese expression darmagi means what a pity! or what a shame! With his characteristic respect for tradition and those who came before him, the younger Gaja decided to call

this wine Darmagi, a homage to his family's legacy with an eye toward the future. Today, fruit for this wine is sourced from 5 acres in Barbaresco, where growing conditions render structured expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon with impressive aging potential. This wine showed the international community that the terroir Piedmont could produce world-class wines using grapes other than those traditionally grown there. Today, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a favorite among the great collectors of the world. Robert Parker has rated these wines as follows: 2010 – NR, 2011 – 94, 2012 – 94.

The Gaja Winery was founded by Giovanni Gaja in 1859 and has been owned and operated by five generations of the Gaja family. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of Angelo Gaja, the winery's current owner. Gaja owns 250 acres of vineyards in Piedmont, located in the Barbaresco district (Barbaresco and Treiso) and the Barolo district (Serralunga d'Alba and La Morra). All three single vineyard Barbarescos are 100% Nebbiolo and are from vineyards acquired in 1967. Costa Russi, a 10-acre vineyard, is known for the elegance and refinement of

its aromatic character. Sori Tilden is widely considered one of the greatest growing sites in Italy today. It was first vinified as a single-vineyard wine in 1970. The Sori San Lorenzo made history when it became one of the earliest single-vineyard bottlings of Nebbiolo in Piedmont with the 1967 vintage. Sourced from Gaja’s top growing site, the vineyard is located just south of the village of Barbaresco in the famed cru Secondine. Robert Parker and Wine Spectator have rated these wines the same as follows: Costa Russi – 94, Sori Tilden – 94, Sori San Lorenzo – 95.

We call this bottle “Georges” (as in Duboeuf) and we auction it for a one-year period at which time we ask that the owner donate it back to the Wine Festival so someone else might enjoy Georges’ company for a year. During that year the buyer is encouraged to take Georges on vacation, to restaurants, to special events or any interesting place they’d like and be photographed. Future buyers will not only have Georges for a year, but their photos will be included in a book containing photographs from all previous owners. LC-26 – 750ml Tenuta dell’Ornellaia Ornellaia 2015$1,400 - $1,800

Tenuta dell’Ornellaia is without question one of Italy’s blue-chip properties. The gorgeous, sprawling estate is in Bolgheri in Tuscany’s Maremma. Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981 and from the outset the mission was to produce outstanding wines. Since then passion and dedication, coupled with a unique terroir and an extraordinary microclimate, have brought the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's prestigious labels great success and recognition as one of the most important wineries in the world. Ornellaia is a Bordeaux-inspired blend consisting principally of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and in the

case of the 2015, 53%, 23%, 17% and 7% respectively. The use of several varietals gives the winemaking team the luxury of being able to tailor the exact proportion of the blend to the specific strengths of a given vintage. Because the blend tends to vary from year to year, in a vertical tasting Ornellaia shows many different facets of its personality. Wine Spectator has rated this wine 97 and says: “A big, brooding red, packed with blackberry, plum and earth flavors, all wrapped in spicy oak. Monolithic now, finishing with saline mineral elements, a leafy tobacco edge and dense, mouthcoating tannins. Terrific potential.”

LC-36 – 750ml Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2015$1,500 - $2,000The 2018 Wine of the Year! The wine began in the 1940’s as a homemade red crafted by a curious Renaissance man trying to emulate Bordeaux on his Bolgheri estate near the Tuscan coast. It became the prototype of the nascent Bolgheri region, inspiring many others while establishing itself as one of the great wines of Tuscany and Italy. And in 2018, 50 years after the wine's first commercial vintage, Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2015 was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year. The wines of the San Guido Estate, Sassicaia above all, derive their qualities from the particular terrain which is unique to the Bolgheri area in Italy. The surface area contains three subzones which are all very different from each other both for their altitude and composition of the soil. Considered a Super

Tuscan because of its Bordeaux blend, Sassicaia consists of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc and is aged in French oak barrels (one third new) for 24 months and has 6 months of bottle age before release. Sassicaia has been given its own DOC, the first, and so far, the only case in Italy of a DOC contained in one estate. Sasssicaia continues to be one of the most sought after of all Italian wines. Wine Spectator rates this wine 97 points and says the following: “Rich and concentrated, this red features black currant, blackberry, violet, mineral and spice flavors. Dense yet lively, structured yet impeccably balanced, with vibrant acidity driving the long, fruit-filled aftertaste. The oak is beautifully integrated.”

LC-46 – 750ml Marchesi Antinori Tignanello Toscano 2015$750 - $1,000The Tignanello is one of Italy's most famous wines from one of Italy's most famous producers and is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Tignanello is made exclusively from the vineyard of the same name which is situated on limestone and tuffaceous soil on the Tignanello estate covering 116 southwest-facing acres at altitudes between 1,150 and 1,300 feet. This was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern

red wine blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet, and one of the first red wines in Chianti not to use white grapes. Robert Parker says this about this 96-point wine: “The 2015 opens like a fully blossomed rose, right in front of you. This vintage is immediately accessible, generous and opulent. The fruit is beautifully ripe with fresh blackberry and cherry nuances, spice leather, sweet tobacco and smoke.”

LC-61 – 3ltr Château La Conseillante Pomerol 2000$1,250 - $1,500Château La Conseillante is one of the older Pomerol properties in this right bank Bordeaux appellation. Madame Catherine Conseillan was in charge of managing the Bordeaux vineyard and estate when it was formed, and it was from the Conseillan family that the property found its name. Wine was being produced and marketed by what we now know of as La Conseillante by 1756, making the property one of the first estates in Pomerol. On the passing of Madame Conseillan, the estate passed to the Despoujal family and the Nicolas family bought Château La Conseillante in 1871 from the Leperche family and continue to own it today. This double magnum was rated

95 points by Wine Spectator who commented as follows: “Pretty, with a perfume hint to the range of bergamot, blood orange, kirsch and damson plum fruit flavors, which are backed by a graceful, floral-edged finish. Very silky and suave, this expands steadily and dramatically in the glass but still forgoes power for a lacy seduction. This really stands apart from the powerfully ripe general profile of the AOC in '00 but seems likely to last just as long in the hunt as the other top dogs.”DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of eighteen Fifth Growths in the official Classification of 1855. Situated a few kilometers from the town of Pauillac, the vineyards of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste total roughly 90 acres with Cabernet Sauvignon making up 75% of the total plantings and the rest belonging to Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). Typical of the region, the vineyard consists of a deep gravel top soil on a limestone base. The winery produces about

12,000 cases of wine in an average year. Raymond Dupin owned Grand Puy Lacoste until 1978. Before his death, he passed the remainder of his estate to the Borie family, which was headed by Jean Eugene Borie, the father of the current owner, François-Xavier Borie, who began his career at Grand Puy Lacoste with the 1979 vintage. Robert Parker has rated these wines as follows: 1975 – 85, 1982 – 96, 1986 – 89, 1989 – 89, 1990 – 95, 1995 – 95, 1996 – 91, 1999 – 89, 2000 – 95, 2005 – 92, 2009 – 95, 2010 – 95, 2014 – 92+, 2015 – 91+DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

LC-81 – 750ml Krug Clos du Mesnil Blanc de Blanc 20021 – 750ml Krug Brut 20021 – 750ml Krug Brut 2004$1,700 - $2,000Over 170 years ago, Joseph Krug broke with convention to follow his vision, to create the most generous expression of Champagne every year, regardless of climatic unpredictability. Joseph’s bold experiment proved a triumph and he succeeded in creating Champagne like never before. And like no other Champagne house since. To this day, the House of Krug lives and breathes his enduring philosophy, creating only prestige Champagnes since 1843. It is now owned by luxury French product group, LVMH. Krug Clos du Mesnil Blanc de Blanc is the LVMH flagship blanc de blanc Champagne. The highly rated 2002 vintage marked the retirement of Henri Krug who had worked at the house for 40 years. This vintage was released in May 2016 – a year after the 2003 Clos de Mesnil due to its ageing potential. Seamless, elegant and powerful, this wine has a long, lingering and complete

finish; a truly great wine. Both Robert Parker and Wine Spectator give the 2002 Clos du Mesnil 98-points. The 2002 Brut, released in 2015, received 97+ points from Robert Parker who said: “Opens with a generous, intense yet fine and precise bouquet that indicated great depth and elegance. Red fruit flavors on the nose lead to a generously rich yet pure, highly refined and elegant palate, with lots of red cherry fruits and delicious yeasty flavors.” The 2004, also receiving 97 points from Parker, had the following tasting notes: “Opens with a highly elegant, fascinatingly clear, bright and refreshing bouquet of ripe apple fruits. Dense and round, with delicate mineral soul, the pure but perfectly balanced 2004 reveals great finesse and weightless elegance with a long and round finish.”DONORS: Marcus Relthford & Amy Eddy

The Feraud family of Domaine du Pegau, including daughter Laurence and the father Paul, are fervent proponents of the most traditional wine-making style of Rhone. It is widely regarded as one of the leading producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The property is made up of eleven separate vineyard parcels spread throughout the Courthézon, La Solitude and Bédarrides sector of the appellation. The Châteauneuf red (a small quantity of white is also produced) is a blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah, with the remaining 5% being made up of Mourvèdre, Counoise and other varieties.

The grapes are hand harvested and are then fermented without being de-stemmed. The wine is aged for around 18 months in old oak foudres. No fining or filtration is carried out. LD-53 – 750ml Colgin Cellars Cariad Proprietary Red 2014$1,700 - $2,100Three bottles of exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon blend from one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated cult wineries. Ann Colgin established Colgin Cellars in 1992 and then in 1998 purchased a 125-acre high-altitude estate on volcanic soil in the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley overlooking Lake Hennessey. She and her husband Joe Wender named their property IX Estate because it was parcel #9 when previously owned by the Long Family and because Ann married Joe on September 9 (9/9). Mark Aubert was the winemaker at Colgin Cellars through the 2006 vintage and Allison Tauziet took over in 2007. Both had previously served apprenticeships at Colgin as assistant winemakers. Consultant Dr. Alain Raynaud, who has owned several properties in Pomerol and St.-Émilion, has played an active role in blending the Colgin Cellars wines since 2001. French luxury conglomerate LVMH purchased 60%

of Colgin Cellars in November 2017. Cariad, the Welsh word for “love”, is a Bordeaux-style red wine blended from three outstanding vineyards owned and managed by David Abreu. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from Madrona Ranch are blended with small amounts of fruit from Thorevilos and Howell Mountain, producing a wine of enormous proportions with a classic structure that is the Colgin hallmark. Robert Parker rates the 2014 Cariad 96 and says the following: “This wine offers loads of unsmoked cigar tobacco, melted licorice, charcoal embers, blackberry and mulberry fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning intensity, impressive equilibrium, and well-integrated acidity and tannin. It is another beauty, obviously coming from first-growth terroirs. This should drink beautifully for 20-25 years.”

LD-61 – 3ltr Blankiet Estate Paradise Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2002$1,250 - $1,500Claude Blankiet worked in his family’s textile business in France, moved to Texas in the mid 70’s and developed the process of stonewashing denim. In 1996, with a single vision of producing world class wines, Claude and his wife Katherine moved to Napa Valley and ushered in the estate’s vineyard, suitably named Paradise Hills. Viticulturist David Abreu and winemaker Helen Turley were brought in to develop the vineyards based on the unique microclimates and volcanic soils of the property located in the foothills of the Mayacamus mountains above Dominus and just north of Domaine Chandon. There they produce both left and right bank style

Bordeaux wines along with rosés. This double magnum of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon received 98 points from Robert Parker who said the following: “Made by Helen Turley when she was the consultant at Blankiet, it exhibits a beautiful nose of flowers, high-quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, crème de cassis, chocolate, expresso and blueberries. Extraordinarily young, fresh and fabulously concentrated, this wine still impresses with its intensity, complexity and youthfulness.”DONORS: Meredythe & Clayton Daley, Jr.

LD-83 – 750ml Sloan Cabernet Sauvignon 2014$2,000 - $2,500In 1997, Seattle industrialist Stuart Sloan purchased a fabulous 13-acre Rutherford vineyard on a 40-acre tract high on the hillsides above the Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley with the goal of making the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon wine in all of Napa Valley. To do this he put a superstar team in place – viticulturalist David Abreu, winemaker Martha McClellan (the wife of Harlan Estates’ Bob Levy), and of course, who else but Michel Rolland to do some consulting work. He achieved his goal of creating a cult status wine with extraordinary critic ratings. In 2011, to the surprise of many, wealthy Hong Kong industrialist, Sutong Pan and his daughter Jenny Pan, purchased Sloan Estate Winery for a then record setting, $40 Million dollars. Sutong also owns Château Le Bon Pasteur in Pomerol. To the relief of Sloan fans, the Pans have kept the superstar team together and continue to produce world class Cabernet. The wines have some

Merlot (which they barrel-ferment in very small lots) and Cabernet Franc in the blend, but the wine is dominated by at least 80% Cabernet Sauvignon in every vintage. Certainly, everything produced to date has been impeccable, sometimes even perfect as reflected in Robert Parker’s 100-point scores on the 2002, 2007 and 2015 vintages. These wines go only to their mailing list and to select restaurants. Robert Parker has rated this wine 98 points and commented as follows: “Deep garnet purple colored, the 2014 needs a little coaxing to reveal slowly unfurling notions of warm black cherries, mulberries, red currents and blackberry compote with touches of licorice, tapenade, chargrill and scorched earth. Full bodied, firm, grainy and packed with layers of black fruits and savory flavors, it has a firm, grainy backbone of very ripe tannins and tons of vivacity, finishing very long.”DONORS: George & Jeane Elliott
