Preparation: Use the ¾ GLAZE WASH and paint the frame and insert front and back with BLUE MIST – sand and apply a second coat. Streak BLUE CHIFFON plus a dot of ULTRA BLUE DEEP around the inside edge of the frame.

BACKGROUND ON THE OVAL – Using the ¾ GLAZE WASH - streak the sky on the top half of the oval with darker streaks of BLUE MIST plus a touch of ULTRA BLUE DEEP plus BLUE CHIFFON – medium streaks of BLUE CHIFFON plus a dot of ULTRA BLUE DEEP and lighter streaks of BLUE CHIFFON plus WARM WHITE. Transfer the pattern for the car using BLUE SARAL paper – lightly outline with SOFT BLACK.

BACKGROUND AND GRASS – Paint the ground starting at the top on both sides of the car using BURNT UMBER – darker lower section under the car and to the left with BURNT UMBER plus SOFT BLACK. Use a ½ FILBERT COMB –start at the top edge of the brown and work down to the tires using RAW SIENNA plus a touch of BURNT UMBER, HONEY BROWN and lighter streaks of TRUE OCHRE. Paint the car then fi nish the grass.

CAR – Use a #4 LINER – brush mix SOFT BLACK plus LAMP BLACK and paint inside the cab, the

two small grills on the hood, the lower front grill, the running board and under the fenders. Use a #4 ANGULAR – thinned SOFT BLACK and fl oat shading around the windshield, lower parts of the hood, on the fenders below the hood , lower body next to the bumper and the back fender above the running board. Under paint the car with a thinned light rust mix of BURNT SIENNA plus a touch of FRENCH VANILLA and paint the fenders, hood and body. Load the tip of the angular brush and pat brighter red spots with RED IRON OXIDE and RED IRON OXIDE plus a touch of FRENCH VANILLA. Pat darker blue spots using TEAL GREEN plus a touch of SOFT BLACK – brighter blue is TEAL GREEN. Paint the steering wheel BURNT SIENNA plus a touch of SOFT BLACK. Float the windshield and windows with BLUE MIST. Use a #1 SCRIPT LINER – paint around the windshield and the center strip, stripes on the hood, door and door handle, bars on the grill and around the headlights with BLUE MIST plus WARM WHITE – highlight with spots of WARM WHITE – add a few rust spots with RED IRON OXIDE. Paint headlights with TEAL GREEN – fl oat and streak with WARM WHITE plus a touch of BLUE MIST. Paint bumper with same colors used on the grill – adding dark-er spots of rust with BURNT UMBER plus a touch of BURNT SIENNA. Tire is LAMP BLACK – shape rim with TEAL GREEN – highlight TEAL GREEN plus a touch of BLUE MIST.

GRASS – Float SOFT BLACK plus LAMP BLACK under the front of the car. Use ½ FILBERT COMB – fi nish the grass around the car using the same shades used for the distant grass – adding lighter streaks using TRUE OCHRE plus a touch of FRENCH VANILLA.

Finishing:Finish with several coats of DuraClear Varnish – Satin on both the frame and insert. Attach hard-ware to frame and insert the painted piece.
