1 September, 1956TO ALLCADETSCAPCSUlJ]JlJ.erEncampment}furch Air Force Base,California
You attending the 1956 Encampment have enjoyedthe complete understanding and cooperation of the strategicAir Conunand"of' the Uni.t.ed states Air Force.
As we look back through the years and compar-ethis Enc&~ment to those past, this is the finest ever attendedby Civil Air iPatrol cadets from the Southern Area, CaliforniaWing. .
Ambition promotes training which leads toachievement; therefore, the amount of individual effort ex-pended results in success or failure. From this point on wecan build through continuous effort a strong future for theCivil Air Patrol program, or we can remain on a plateau, glancing neither forward nor backward, but becoming satisfiedonly with ourselves rather than with results.
Let us then take home the leadership, theinitiative, ani the understanding developed here, and apply itto the job to be accomplished - - the promotion of an intensiveprogram of Aviation Education.
Sincer-ely, ~~! ...Major CAPEncampment Commander

AUGUST, 1956 -
DEAR M0l1,
.As you knov all the 250 Oiv:U AirPatrol cadets going to summerencamp-ment left by USAFairlift - a 0-54 andVC-97brought us in from Santa Barbara,Burbank, Long Beach, and San Diego. Iguess the senior personnel who reachedthe enc~pment a few days earlier hadtheir problems in setting up the head-quarters and arranging the million andone details, but by the time we got toMarchAir Force Base at Riverside, things were pretty well under- control, and it really wasnIt too bad waitingoutside the building in the hot, broil-ing sun waiting to be processed andwanting to get the showon the road.It just seemeg like hours •••••••••••••
I.
:l
They sure can ask the questions. !ryes, Matam,I KNOWI filled out my application! It
I could. have cried when the razor took off mystripes. This w:U1make a REAL cadet out of me••
The Female "Tigers II - the gals whohave theirCOP- already seem to get more attention •••••
