On cars equipped with Powerglide, a combination neutral safety switch and back-up light switch #1104 (View A) is mounted on the steering column near the toe board inside the passenger com- partment. At the same location, on models equipped with a 3-Speed Manual Transmission, is the back-up light switch #12149. (View B) 2. Connect the insulated terminal of the long, partially-loomed, wire assembly to the one terminal of the back-up switch. Route the wire through the main harness clip on the plenum chamber. (View B2) 3. Connect the short green wire supplied in kit to the fuse panel marked back-up. (View C) Install a 9-Amp fuse (SFE 9). PART #3101957 Back-up Light Assembly

1. On cars equipped with Powerglide, a combination neutral safety switch and back-up light switch #1104 (View A) is mounted on the steering column near the toe board inside the passenger com-partment. At the same location, on models equipped with a 3-Speed Manual Transmission, is the back-up light switch #12149. (View B)

2. Connect the insulated terminal of the long, partially-loomed, wire assembly to the one terminal of the back-up switch. Route the wire through the main harness clip on the plenum chamber. (View B2)

3. Connect the short green wire supplied in kit to the fuse panel marked back-up. (View C) Install a 9-Amp fuse (SFE 9).

4. Remove the sill plate(s) #575 on 2-Doors, #576 on 4-Doors, #2257 on 4-Door Hardtops. Lift the carpet up and remove the wire harness cover #10133 (2-Doors only). Run the sup-plied wire harness next to the taillight harness( View D).

5. Drill 1/2” hole in the floor pan and install grommet #1193 next to the existing grommet #1738 for the licence light wire (View E).

6. Remove the back-up light covers and retainers #219 and #979. Remove the lens #492 from the back-up light housing #310 to access the screws. Slide the housing to bumper seal around the outside of the housing. Slide it into place through the bumper end #757. Install the mounting bracket from the back-side of the bumper and secure it to the housing, with the two inner screws, through the housing and into the mounting bracket. Do not reinstall the lens #492 at this time (View F).

7. Attach the pigtails to the housing. Plug the bulb in and reinstall lens, #492. Do not over tighten the screws. Run the shortest green wire from the left hand side, and the longer green wire from the right hand side through grommets, #1193. Hook wires up to the “Y” Connector. Now connect the wire from the switch to the “Y” Connector. (View G) See the two diagrams below showing the ways the wiring should be run on the passenger cars and station wagons (Nomad, Sedan Delivery).
