TOGETHER WE’VE GROWN!
Grand Re-Opening of the new Loch Lomond Villa!
September 14, 2015
1973—2015
Providing
Quality Care
for 42 years
Loch Lomond Villa came to be …
because of the dedication and vision
of the members of the Simond’s Lions
Club and their concept of designing a
complete life care center for senior
citizens in East Saint John, in 1970.
After incorporation in 1971, the doors of
the complex were officially opened in
September of 1973. 42 years ago!
The complex originally consisted of a
high-rise apartment building with 110
self-contained apartments on six floors.
Today we refer to it as Building #1. In
addition, the original complex
consisted of a low-rise area with 55
studio accommodations and 131
nursing care beds.
Originally there
were 90 staff and
an operating
budget of
$580,000.
Fast-forward 42 years to 2015.

OUR MISSION
“Loch Lomond Villa enhances the quality of life in
New Brunswick by providing and supporting safe,
caring places for adults challenged by age or
disability.”
Throughout the years there have been
many additions, alterations, and
renovations. In 2010, Loch Lomond Villa was
approved by the New Brunswick
Government to break ground on a
complete rebuild and renovation of the
Nursing Home which would take place in
two phases, over five and one-half years
and would cost $53 million dollars.
Today, Loch Lomond Villa encompasses:
The Village which is a brand new state-of-
the art Nursing Home consisting of four
Houses (Cedar, Dogwood, Maple and
Willow Houses) with 25 residents living in
each. Cedar House is our Alzheimer's House
and Dogwood House is considered our
“Young At Heart” House. The Village
officially opened on December 3rd, 2012.
The main Villa sits on it’s original location but
has a brand new three-story state-of-the art
nursing home that is home to 90 residents
on three Houses (Birch, Elm and Evergreen
Houses). Evergreen House is our
Psychogeriatric House.
These two amazing buildings combined are
home to 190 residents and include:
Three open-aired courtyards;
Beautiful gardens, a fish pond, walking
paths and a labyrinth;
Two glass covered atriums and a
solarium;
Two movie theatres;
Two café’s;
Individual livingrooms on each House;
Two hair-care salons;
Three large activity lounges (two at the
Village and one at the Villa);
Resident community kitchens;
Family Suites for the families of palliative
residents;
A brand new main entrance and
reception area.;
Additional parking for families/visitors.
Without the continued support
of our Foundation, we would not
have been able to include some
of the special features that have
gone a long way in improving
the quality of life for our resi-
dents. The Foundation has been
the supporter of:
The two glass covered atriums at the Village
The labyrinth at the Village
The movie theatre at the Village
Coi Pond at the Village
Service Elevator at the Village
Serenity Room at the Village
The movie theatre at the Villa
A new wheelchair accessible van
Courtyard furniture Villa and Village
The glassed in solarium at the Villa
We would like to take this opportunity to
thank some of our partners who have been
with us every step of the way throughout
the last 5+ years.

VILLA RESIDENTS ARE PART OF A
CANADIAN FIRST!
Residents of Loch Lomond Villa are “cycling”
throughout Saint John -- thanks to an exciting new
initiative launched at the nursing home on Septem-
ber 1st, 2015.
The Villa Trishaw took it’s maiden voyage accompa-
nied by cycling enthusiasts from throughout the city
and surrounding area complete with a police escort
down Loch Lomond Road to Westmorland Road,
along Westmorland Road and back to the Villa via
Ellerdale Street. What an enthusiastic group we had
on hand. To date 14 pilot’s have been trained to
take our residents and tenants out for trips. The Villa
Trishaw is the first “Cycling Without Age” trishaw not
only in Saint John but to arrive in Canada.
There have been inquiries from all over Canada
since the program launch, asking how they can get
involved in a program like ours in their areas.
We have had so much interest and excitement over
the program that a sponsor has stepped forward,
and a second Villa Trishaw will soon be on it’s way.
