Dear Parents, A great big thank you goes to all our families for a fantastic term. We value your suggestions and comments throughout the term. Family Breakfast - Last Day of Term (20.09.19) Staff and children of Pinewood OSHClub invite all parents for our termly ‘Family Breakfast’ on the last day of school. The breakfast will be served from 7:15am to 8:15am at the school hall. We hope to provide a special pancake breakfast (tea/coffee/ juice available). HOLIDAY WORKS We have several tasks planned for over the school holidays to ensure the least interruption to student learning We are having the hall floor resurfaced and repaired over the holiday break Replacing lattice in rotunda with cross beams to tidy this up, and to ensure less likelihood of damage Soil is to be delivered to fill in holes that have developed on school oval – this will be part of a process
to lift the oval surface again Mulch to be distributed around garden bed areas particularly in the courtyards nearest the admin

Chloe recently won an art competition in the "Threatened Species Children's Art Exhibition". The aim of the exhibition is to create an awareness of the extinction crisis threatening our native
species.
Chloe represented three brolgas in her illustration, using fine drawing and colouring skills to detail the design.

THE ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS (opp the Visitor Centre) Sat 7 Sept-Sat 28 Sep
Term three in the art room has been busy, productive and exciting. Many of the students created their own head-dress, T-shirt design or costume piece for our recent production, "The Wizard of Oz". We produced 120 flower lapel pieces in Prep, 125 jungle crowns in Yr 2, 75 painted jitter bug T-shirts and head pieces in Yr 3 and 100 corn crowns in Yr 4. Senior students assisted in the production of the hot air balloon basket and antique sign as props for the stage. Selected student "Wizard of Oz" art work will be used on the front cover of the production DVD which will be released to the school community shortly. Bugs and insects have been the focus of study for the remainder of the term with students engaging in a range of two dimensional and modelling activities. Year 5 classes have embarked on their soft toy textiles project whilst Year 6 continue to work on their graduation cases. The kiln is in high turn over with ceramic dogs and candle holders currently being fired . Look out for our Bug Wall outside the staffroom in the next couple of weeks. On Wednesday 16th October, as a community we will be celebrating World Teachers’ Day. The Parents Committee are currently organising a special lunch to thank the teachers for all of their hard work. We would love contributions from other members of the community as well.
