GEOWEB® SHORELINE PROTECTION SYSTEM ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS Stabilizes embankment soil above the aquatic shelf Minimizes future shoreline erosion and recession Reduces sediment load and suspended solids Improves water quality, enhancing aquatic habit Supports aquatic vegetation, creating visual appeal GEOSYNTHETIC COMPONENTS Perforated Geoweb GW30V 8-inch depth Geotextile separation layer Anchor stakes PROJECT LOCATION Chicago, Illinois PROJECT SCOPE The Presto Geoweb® Shoreline Protection System was integrated in a shoreline restoration project at the Chicago Botanic Garden (CBG) to increase shoreline stabilization, aesthetic appeal and restore aquatic habitat. Over the past 30 years, significant bank erosion had occurred on the CBG’s lake system, resulting in a shoreline that lacked visual appeal and was devoid of aquatic habitat. With 6.5 miles of eroded shoreline and the loss of over 2 acres of land, the CBG imple- mented “The Aquatic Initiative” to create a healthy water garden.
