This training is going to be your guide as we tour your new Apple computer.
It is here to try to make learning this new system very easy and simple.
Feel free to move through each lesson at your own pace. The materials have been developed to assist your learning process as you discover this new computer for yourself.

ABOUT BTOP
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provided the Department
of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information
Administration (NTIA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural
Utilities Service (RUS) with $7.2 billion to expand access to broadband
services in the United States. Of those funds, the Act provided $4.7
billion to NTIA to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure,
enhance and expand public computer centers, encourage sustainable
adoption of broadband service, and develop and maintain a nationwide
public map of broadband service capability and availability.

Let’s take a look at what is going to be in our lesson ahead
GETTING STARTED
For the iMac, setup is quite easy.
• First, place the iMac on a stable flat surface
• Next, take the power cord and thread it through the hole in the display stand
• Then, plug the disc end into the computer, and the other end into an electrical outlet
• Finally, plug the keyboard into one of the USB ports located on the back of the computer, and plug the mouse into one of the USB ports located on the upper part of the keyboard

For the macBook Pro, there isn’t much to set up.
• Place the macBook Pro on a stable flat surface
• Next, press the power button located on the upper right side of the keyboard
• When the battery is low, plug large end of charging cable into an electrical outlet and the smaller end into the magnetic port located to the upper left of the keyboard

With the iMac screen facing you, the power button is located on the backside in the lower left corner.
Simply press the button is and wait for your computer to start. You will know that the computer has turned on when you hear a musical hum-like sound.
The same goes for the macBook Pro. Just press the power button and wait for the sound.

Going from left to right (in the photo): Headphone port, Microphone port, USB x4, Firewire, Mini Display port, Ethernet port

Going from left to right (in the photo): MagSafe Charging port, Ethernet port, Firewire, Thunderbolt port, USB x2, SD Card slot, Headphone port
macBook Pro Ports:
GETTING STARTED
USB – The USB port is your most general form of input for the computer. It is used for everything from updating an iPod to getting files from a flash drive.
A Tour Of The Ports:
Ethernet – Allows you to connect to the internet through a router
Firewire – Gives you the ability to connect to another device, such as another computer, or external hard drive. Also allows for faster file transfer between devices.
Thunderbolt – (More available mid 2011) Enables incredibly fast transfer speeds for data transfers, audio, and video
