2016 STORYBOOK VILLAGE OPPORTUNITES
To our wonderful Childcare Providers: The Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, Inc. is excited to be holding our 1st Annual PreK, 5K: Readiness Run on Saturday, April 23, 2016. This will be the first year that the Coalition will be hosting our Readiness Run, which is a 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk. This event will not only enable us to raise our profile within the community, but will also inform more people about the services we provide that promote the importance of early learning in Pinellas County.
We need your help to make our PreK 5K: Readiness Run a success! We are asking child care providers across Pinellas County to participate in the Storybook Village portion of our event, which will be the focal area at the Start and Finish of the race. Each center will pick a favorite children’s book, which they will represent within a 10x10 area within the “village”. Each center will be in charge of decorating the space, in addition to providing games and activities for the children that correlate with their chosen book.
Participation in Storybook Village is free, and is not only a wonderful marketing opportunity, but a great way to engage the community on the benefits, successes and draws of your school. If you are interested in participating in our PreK 5K Storybook Village, please complete the attached form. STORYBOOK AREA You will be given a 10x10 area to make your storybook come to life within our “village”. Each area will be supplied with 1 8ft. table, with each center in charge of decorating the space, in addition to providing games and activities for the children that correlate with the chosen book. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place storybook areas, including a cash prize, so be Creative! Dress up, bring children’s costumes, create interactive games/activities or have a read aloud—use those imaginations and let the creative juices flow!
The sky’s the limit, but each area must have the
following: 1. At least 1 copy of the book present and
displayed
2. A game or interactive activity for the children
8am: SBV setup begins 9:30am: SBV opens 1p: Breakdown Please note the Race and Village will be at Boyd Hill

accordingly. Book selections are first come, first
