IDENTIFICATION STATEMENT

The Jacksonvi l le Event Running Guide is published four times a year by the 1st Place Sports Running Club. The purpose of th is guide is to give you the latest information on tra ining and upcoming events , and to keep you updated on the running scene. This magazine can be a substitute for entry forms, so please use the forms in this book to register for any of the listed races.

You can reach over 20,000 runners, walkers, and cyclists by advertising in this publication. I f you would l ike to advertise an event in the Jacksonvil le Running Event Guide, call (904)731-1900 for more information.

If you are entering 1st Place Sports races, you can get more information about upcoming events and results from our past races on the internet at www.1stplacesports.com. Please save this magazine for packet pickup information and day-of-race instructions. Some of the larger races wi l l send you a confirmation of entry, but most of the time you should just pick up your packet as indicated on the race ad.

The Jacksonville Running Event Guide is mailed to runners who have participated in one of our events in the last quarter. It is free!

We wish everyone could receive a free Guide each quarter, but costs prohibit it. If you have run a race in the last quarter, we will mail you a Running Guide for the next quarter. If you do not get one and would like to receive one, you can pick up a copy at one of the 1st Place Sports running store locations.

Proceeds from the race will support the efforts of the J.C. Penney Memorial Scenic

Highway volunteers to protect, preserve and enhance the scenic, historical and cultural

resources along the tree-lined scenic highway corridor and loop. This is balanced with

promoting tourism and encouraging economic development that benefits the community and embraces the goals of the scenic highway. All race expenses will be paid by the sponsors, so

that your entire entry fee is tax-deductible.

Join us as we offer a running clinic to help you become a faster and more efficient runner. Running is a skill to be learned. Let us show you the proper techniques, which could make you a faster runner, make your running easier, and help you avoid common running injuries.

This version will feature the Jacksonville RollerGirls chasing runners through downtown Jacksonville. These roller derby bulls will wield markers instead of horns to mark their hits. The course is on the historic Lee Field the home of the US Navy’s F6F Hellcat fighter during WWII.

The 10km will cover the old runways and the 50km runners will run the perimeter of the old base five times.

The races are a fundraiser for the Military Museum of North Florida. Entrance to the museum is free for all runners and their families.
