“ANYWAY PRAYER”
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of
selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies; succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; build it anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best you’ve got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; it was never between you and them
anyway.

ADVENT TODAY Advent begins today. This week is Hope.
In the church cycle, it’s the beginning of year C. As is normal, we have new songbooks
and an Advent Wreath to help us in our celebrations prior to Christmas. As in the past, we will help you prepare for His coming with
the little blue books (a series of six minute daily reflections on the Gospel)
which are available in the rear of the church.
OUR NEW PARISHIONERS
Tracy Stout 1017 Bobs Hole Road Topping, VA 23169 804-695-7805
REGRETS As previously announced, parishioner Dick
Zimmerman died from natural causes a week ago Monday. Barbara and Dick joined the parish in 2005. He was active in the Prison Ministry and the Divine Mercy Prayer Group. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11210. His Mass
of Resurrection was celebrated Saturday, a week ago with burial immediately afterwards. Our
continued prayers are with Barbara and the family.
ADVENT SONG Light the Advent candle one. Now the waiting has begun. We have started on our way. Time to think of Christmas Day. Refrain:
Candle, candle, burning bright, shining in the cold winter night. Candle, candle burning bright, fill our hearts with Advent light.
THANKSGIVING A COMMUNITY SUCCESS 203 persons were served a meal this Thanksgiving in
conjunction with the Cryer Center and other churches. COV donated two 12lb turkeys which were prepared by Ingrid Borden and Debby Harriman. Ed
did the slicing and Bob delivered the Turkeys to Hands Across Middlesex.
CHRISTMAS SOCIAL GATHERING Next Sunday we will celebrate our annual Christmas gathering starting with a social hour from 3-4pm followed by dinner. The
church will provide the main dish of ham and the wine and chees for social hour. Bring a side dish or dessert to
share. If you have any questions. Please call Kris Scherrer at 776-7117 or Peg Meushaw at 776-7315.
NOVEMBER MEMORIALS We thank the parishioners who chose to remember
their loved ones by participating in one of the ways we recognized the deceased during the month. If you had a photo on the remembrance table, pleas pick it up after
Mass from the rear of the church.
ADVENT SCHEDULE Copies of the Advent Schedule are available in the rear of the church
for you to take home as a reminder of the scheduled events.
DIOCESES ANNOUNCEMENT/TRANSPARENCY Following the listening sessions held throughout the
diocese in October, Bishop Barry C. Knestout renewed his commitment to leading the Diocese of Richmond
with transparency, faith and direct action. A webpage has been created to help the faithful stay informed of the diocese’s
response to the present crisis in the Church. A video interview with Bishop as he answers the faithful’s most frequently asked questions, a timeline of actions taken within the diocese to address the crisis, and resources to learn how Bishop Knestout is
answering the call for accountability is available at www.richmonddiocese.org/diocese-response.

LEGACY Don’t cancel life insurance you no longer need! Consider
instructing your life insurance agent to include Church of the Visitation as a primary or secondary beneficiary on your policy. By naming our parish as beneficiary, you’ll provide lasting financial support
and possibly qualify for tax benefits as well. It costs nothing to change the beneficiary on your
policy, and will mean everything to our future parish community.

UGANDA DONATIONS As we always do in the time of need and at the call for special collections, our parishioners donated $9,089 in
response to Father’s request to match the pledge of an FdS parishioner for enhancing the school’s facilities. Father’s brother
reports the barrels of shoes, socks and fabric have arrived.
APPRECIATION FOR CHURCH PARISHIONERS
Thank you to Lynne Vajda for donating the perfect tree for our portico. Thanks also to all who stayed and helped get ready for Advent on Sunday. It’s only possible with a great deal
of help. You’re all wonderful! A huge thank you to all the heads of ministry and Steve Forte for the fantastic job you did leading the
breakout sessions at the ministry workshop. There was very good feedback. You did a great job. Eileen O’Brien
