forms, record them in various
forms and present their dis-
coveries to their classmates,
partner schools and the pub-
lic. Moreover, they will have
the chance to communicate
with the pupils of partner
schools by participating in e
conferences and in some
cases in the nobilities for the
project.
The teachers will acquire pro-
fessional and personal theory
through exploring other
school systems, traditions,
school habits, educational
programmes, improve their
knowledge about European
thinking and culture, acquire a
closer and informal relation-
ship to their pupils, be moti-
vated to improve their skills
on foreign languages and es-
pecially English and ICT.
Finally, the participating
schools will incorporate the
European dimension into the
school learning programmes
and will be the good examples
for other schools to show
them that they are able to
implement European projects
and have international part-
nerships.
“The Seven Wonders of our
Region” is a Comenius – eT-
winning project involving 7
schools from Slovakia, The
Czech Republic, Poland, Tur-
key, Greece, Scotland and Cy-
prus. The project will last two
school years, 2013 – 2015.
The project idea is to explore
the seven wonders of a region
20 km around the place where
our schools are situated. The
seven wonders are: the high-
est place, the oldest histori-
cal place, the most tasteful
traditional meal, the most im-
portant personality, the most
interesting traditional handi-
craft, the healthiest place
and the most attractive place.
The project will motivate our
pupils to explore and discover
the beauties and interests of
the closest surrounding where
they live, be interested in the
regions of the partner
schools, perceive Europe as
home without national borders
and as the living space of own
future for working and living
opportunities. Working for
the project the pupils will im-
prove the use of English and
ICT, develop the ability of
working in teams as well as
their ability to collect pieces
of information in different

their visit we have the work of our
guests at the presentation boards in
the entrance of our school. Always
when we enter the school we remem-

In the afternoon we went to ex-
plore some of the wonders together
and we found: the highest located
place at Trenčiansky hrad in a tall
tower, the attractive places near
Omar’s well of love and near a water
sprite at the square in Trenčín. In
the evening we tasted our traditional
meals. On the other day we discov-

1st Comenius visit in Slova-
kia,
3-6/11/2013
16 teachers and 15 Polish and
Turkish children came to visit to
Slovakia. We missed just teachers
from Scotland. Although the visit
at us was short, just three days,
we had not only the work and
studying, but mainly fun. Children
took a lot of experiences, because
they visited Slovak families and
they could best recognize how we
live in Slovakia. In the morning our
guests explored our school and pu-
pils and our pupils got to know
your schools through the photos

traditional Czech food and
made and decorated tradi-

In Sivice we visited the

visit to Brno, we shared

the capital city of Prague.

All the pupils of our school
have participated in the dis-
covery of the first wonder.
The task of the explorers
has been to search and visit
the highest located place,
which could become the first
wonder, then to bring photos
or a video and make a poster
with all the important infor-
mation about the first won-
der.
We have collected 32 post-
ers all together, which have
been presented around the
school. All the pupils could
see them and they could de-

Náš projekt odstartoval
v říjnu letošního roku. Začali
jsme v říjnu – 1. div: Nejvyšší
místo našeho okolí. Vyjeli
jsme autobusem na známé
turistické místo – rozhledna
Babí lom 561 m vysoké.
Museli jsme zdolat nelehkou
skalnatou cestu. Na konci náš
čekal výhled do krásného
okolí. Tento úkol jsme plnili
celá škola. Nejprve jsme
vyhledali na mapě místo a
potom jsme uskutečnili výlet.
Byl to krásný slunečný den.
Těšíme se na pokračování

both, Slovakia and the Czech

experienced hospitality and
friendliness. We are all now
looking forward to the meet-

From November 3rd to No-
vember 9th, we took part in
the first mobility of the
Comenius project “The seven
wonders of our region”. The
Polish group consisted of 14
participants –4 teachers and
10 pupils from classes IV –
VI. We visited two partner
schools – one in Trencianske
Teplice in Slovakia and the
other one in Sivice in The
Czech Republic. During our
stay, we visited Trencianske
Teplice, Trencin with its cas-
tle, Brno and Prague. Polish
pupils made friends with the
Turkish children, who were
also present, and with the
Slovak and Czech host fami-
lies. Children took part in
different classes and activi-
ties. We also tasted the spe-
cialties of the regions. Eve-

As far as the project is con-
cerned, we have assigned the
tasks, made information
boards and prepared a film
about our school. For the
first wonder:
- we have prepared a multi-
media presentation about the
Teutonic Knights’ Tower ( the
highest building)
- pupils have written stories
and poems about “The con-
struction of the Tower”
- we have organised a mul-
timedia lesson “The his-
tory of the Teutonic
Tower” in the town library
- there has been a trip to
visit the tower
- we have organised an
art competition (photos
and pictures) “The Brod-
nica Teutonic Tower” for all
the students of our school.

people pour some water while
the others are going. This
means “go and come safely”).

Promotional and presentation
materails were made ready
between 26th and 30th
October 2013.
A contest was held for the
fisrt wonder, the highest

declared firstly and then the
students made some guesses
about its height. They wrote
their predictions and kept
into boxes. All predictions
were read and the winners

“1655”. The real height is
1650 being the highest point:
KARASENİR MOUNT. The

searching the first wonder
of our region, the highest
points in Glasgow.
We started off by doing
some research as homework.
We found that The Glasgow
Tower at 127m is the tallest
structure in the city (and in
the whole of Scotland.)
It also
holds the

World
Record
for the

The highest and most im-

We visited Lefkara village,
the highest and most impor-
tant place of our region. It is
a beautiful and small village
with a population of 1000
people. It is called “Lefkara”
from the color of the local
white rocks which were used
for building.
Lefkara village is famous for
its traditional laces. They
are very beautiful with many
houses are made of the local
white rock too. We visited a
traditional house and saw the
items that were used by the
locals. It was fascinating.
We walked
through Lefkara’s
narrow streets. It
was a great experi-
ence. The streets

Lefkara is also famous for its
silver jewelry made from lo-
cal craftsmen. We visited a
local craftsman who showed
us how are these jewelry
made. They are gorgeous.
You can buy them in jewelry
shops.
We also visited Lefkara’s
church, dedicated to the
Holy Cross. It is an old and
very beautiful church
which has a real piece of
the Jesus Christ Cross!

They also wrote letters to

In December, we made our
Christmas cards and mailed
them to all schools. We also
had a videoconference with

which we sang Christmas
songs to each other.

we were impressed with the
work the pupils of both
schools have done for the
