Professional Development

Professional Development

Direct all high school professional development at

Canvas and 1:World

Through the PLC model, encourage teachers to

share and collaborate on resources, products and

projects

Adopt an instructional model for training teachers

in a 1:World classroom

Curriculum

Curriculum and Assessment

While the Standards and curriculum will not change through a

1: World initiative, how students access, collaborate and are

assessed on the curriculum will change dramatically

1:World means equitable access to the curriculum, program, and

resources 24/7

Enables a seamless connection between the subject matter and

resources in any environment – home, cafeteria, weekends,

vacation, etc.

Means continuous interaction between the student and online

resources – not just when laptops, computer labs, or the “family

computer” are available or with teachers who have more access.

Prepares students for a seamless connection from high school

to higher ed. and work environments

With appropriate professional development, the one to one

initiative will lead to production of higher quality work

products for all

Understanding today’s

students – digital access

1:World will enable us to meet today’s high school students

where they are – how they access information and

communicate.

Personal technology devices are the greatest bridge in closing

the gap between teachers’ expectations and how students

learn

Power, speed, accuracy

Makes differentiation possible with ease everyday

Enables many paths to mastery for students

Personalizes learning

Makes students more active learners

Facilitates creating and sharing

Encourages students to discover and demonstrate

resources to teachers and to each other

Supports the sharing of student products with the world

Special Education

Special Education

Technology tools increase access to the curriculum

and allow students to demonstrate mastery

• Screen readers

• Full page zoom

• High contrast color

• Voice commands and voice comments

• USB connected Braille displays

• Speak It - speech to text

• Speech recognition

Special Education

Collaboration: Content area teachers are able to

share classroom documents directly with the

resource room teacher making support for students

with learning disabilities seamless between learning

environments.

Accessibility: Students are able to access online

resources that provide visual media representations

of concepts that are wholly unavailable in

conventional textbooks.

Independence: Students can self select sources of

information that best meets their needs.
