The women’s gymnastics program welcomes competitive and recreational gymnasts of all ability levels. Daily instruction sessions focus on proper fundamentals and learning new skills across all Olympic events as well as trampoline. Professional instructors teach skills progressing in difficulty to reinforce proper technique and form. Daily open gym sessions with our coaching staff allow gymnasts to focus on their individual goals.

During summer 2020, Woodward is proudly celebrating 50 YEARS of serving the gymnastics community with life-changing summer camps and progression-focused gymnastics programs. More than just a training camp, Woodward provides a complete summer camp experience where campers will build confidence, make new friends, and realize their true potential.

Men’s gymnastics at Woodward focuses on both compulsory and optional skill progression during daily instruction sessions. Strength, flexibility, and drills are taught each afternoon, including a daily trampoline rotation. Evening training sessions give campers the opportunity to work with professional coaches on individual skill development.

(Available at Woodward PA weeks 6-12)Let’s get ready to tumble! The power tumbling program teaches compulsory and elite-level routines on rod floor, double-mini, and trampoline. Participants have access to up to 7 hours of gym time each day, including 2.5 hours of mandatory instruction and 4.5 hours of open workout time, to reach their goals.*The power tumbling program does not include competitive trampoline.

Move your body to the music and experience the joy of dance! Woodward’s dance program focuses on hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary dance styles. Campers will learn from dance choreographers (and gymnastics instructors for acro skills), fully immersed in a dynamic learning environment focused on creativity and skill building. Dancers have daily instruction in the dance studio as well as in Woodward’s incredible gymnastics facilities.

Woodward’s residential summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association. The ACA’s nationally recognized standards focus primarily on health, safety, and risk management. Accreditation is administered through a peer-review process. ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to ensure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.

Olympians, national champions, VIPs, and seasoned veterans of the sport all pass through Woodward camps every summer season. Woodward’s special guests don’t just live in the gym; they immerse themselves in all aspects of camp. Conveniently located two hours outside of Los Angeles, Woodward West is nestled in the mountains of Tehachapi, California. Our gigantic, 24,400-square-foot gymnastics facility is full of top-of-the-line training equipment and is designed to help athletes develop new skills and push their progression. Training tools include two full spring floors, a 124-foot rod floor, beams, high bars, uneven bars, pommel horses, rings, vaults, and parallel bars, all of which give athletes the ability to dismount into foam pits, Resi-Pits, and competitive landing surfaces. Woodward is the fun training ground! In addition to perfecting technique and building new skills, campers will also meet new friends, try new things, and have unbelievable amounts of fun while (for many) experiencing their first taste of independence. When athletes are not in instruction sessions, a wide range of activities is available, including the Woodward WreckTangle ninja obstacle challenge, swimming, rock climbing, arts and crafts, paintball, go-kart racing, horseback riding, ropes course, slacklining, t-shirt tie-dying, and much, much more. (Recreational activities vary by camp location)

Each Woodward location has unique cabin-style lodging divided by gender and grouped by age and program. Every cabin has at least one live-in counselor. “Mini Campers” (ages 7-9) are housed with camp parents who provide additional assistance and support throughout the week.
