27 Bristol Aircraft Ltd Enamel and Silver Long Service Lapel Pins. The lot contains four red enamel and silver pins for 20, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years long service together with two silver and blue enamel pins for 20 and 25 years long service with BS. The Bristol Aeroplane Company, originally the British and Colonial Aeroplane Company, was both one of the first and most important British Aviation companies. The company was responsible for planes like The Boxkite, Bristol Fighter, The Bulldog, The Beaufighter and the Britannia. In 1959 Bristol Aircraft merged with several other companies to form The British Aircraft Corporation known as BAC. BAC went on to become a founding component of the nationalised British Aerospace, now BAE Systems.

(af) Provenance: This cabinet is accompanied by a short note which reads: This cabinet was made by a prisoner in the Temple Paris during the French Revolution. It was brought to England by my grandfather Thomas Kesteven of Treeton Yorkshire and West End House Hampstead - he was travelling in France when the Revolution began and was arrested as a spy. He was imprisoned in The Temple for six weeks. As a personal friend of the British Ambassador his release was obtained with some difficulty' signed Alice Kesteven.

The lot includes an ID Badge for Chapman Pincher elected as a Full Member Academician of the above academy with asscociated certificates. This Order has been awarded to only two individuals outside of the Russian Federation.

Provenance: Henry Chapman Pincher (1914-2014) Investigative Journalist and Author of approximately fourteen novels relating to political intrigue and espionage. Titles include 'Their Trade is Treachery', 'Labryrinths of Treason', 'Web of Deception', 'The Truth of Dirty Tricks' amongst others. Privately educated in England he joined the Royal Army Corp in 1940. Although he had a scientific background he remained a soldier and continued to serve until 1946. He had a keen interest in country pursuits which brought him into the company of many prominent and influencial people including politicians of the 1950's. It was at this time that Chapman Pincher listed his interests as 'spy-hunting, ferreting in Whitehall and bolting politicians'. A colourful character writing many articles which often proved challenging to the establishment and the secret service, it was questioned as to whether he was being used by foreign powers. On the contrary Henry Chapman Pincher was a true patriot, loyal, intelligent, active man with a brilliant journalistic mind. He once told The Daily Telegraph: 'Attempts by foreign agents to undermine my country and ripen it for revolution or invasion have always outraged me, and, in my seventies, I still feel driven to pursue subversives and traitors whether they be alive or dead'.
