We believe that the Bible is the inspired

Word of God, that Jesus Christ is the Savior

of the world, and that He will come again

to establish a kingdom that shall never be

destroyed (Daniel 2:44). Those who are born

again (John 3:3–5) will have eternal life and

rule as kings and priests with Christ forever.

WHAT IS ENDTIME?

In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered the United

States and other modern nations in the Bible.

He also found the Berlin Wall in the Bible

and that one day it was to be torn down,

re-uniting Germany, and that event would

be the catalyst to spark an international

movement called the “New World Order.”

These things have now come to pass. Irvin

Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister, began

Endtime Ministries in 1986 when he wrote A

Message For The President, a book explaining

the major prophecies of the Bible which

he had been teaching since 1968. After the

fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic ful� llment

accelerated rapidly. The decision was made

to launch Endtime magazine. The purpose

Q: I was checking the Greek for the word

slay in Rev 9:15. What do you think about

the meaning, “to deprive of spiritual life

and procure eternal misery in hell?” Do

you think it is possible that the war will

spiritually kill one third of mankind?

- Tom

REPLY | As you stated, the verb used in Rev. 9:15

is the Greek verb “apokteino.” This verb (as do

most words) has a range of meanings. Usually,

an author intends on using only one of those

meanings in any particular usage. Discovering

which meaning was originally intended is

generally best determined by the context.

The word “apokteino” appears 74 times in

the Greek New Testament. The word can refer

both to natural death, as well as to spiritual

death. We know this by Jesus’ use of the term

in Matthew 10:28. He says, “Fear not them

which kill the body, but are not able to kill the

soul…” Both times where the KJV says “kill,” the

Greek verb “apokteino” is used. That said, of the

74 times it is used in the New Testament, most

of the time it refers to physical death. When

it does refer to spiritual death, the context

usually gives clear indicators that this is so (e.g.

“kill the soul” – Matt 10:28).

So, does Revelation 9:15 refer to physical death

or spiritual death? As I mentioned above, the

context of the passage will be the best indicator

of what John was saying. Revelation 9:18 tells

us that the 1/3 of men were killed by the � re,

smoke, and brimstone which issued out of

the horses’ mouths. This seems to indicate a

physical death brought on by physical means.

Also, consider verse 19: “And the rest of the

men which were not killed by these plagues yet

repented not of the works of their hands, that

they should not worship devils…” This verse

contrasts those who were killed with those

who weren’t. If John was referring to a spiritual

death, separate from a physical death, this

verse wouldn’t make much sense, as those who

were spiritually but not physically dead would

no doubt also not repent of their wickedness;

making the contrast meaningless. However,

if John is referring to a physical death, this

verse becomes clear. Although 1/3 of man was

killed through the plagues, those who were

not killed are so hard of heart that even this

observable catastrophe does not move them

to repentance.

To sum it up: Although the word “apokteino”

can be used both of physical and spiritual

death, in the NT, it is usually used of physical

death. When it is referring to spiritual death,

there are normally clear indications of this in

the text (e.g. “kill the soul”). This, along with the

context of Revelation 9:15, indicates that the

1/3 of mankind killed by the 6th trumpet war

are physically killed.

Q: Does the Church of Philadelphia

relate to any form of believers of today?

(Reference Rev 3: 7-10)

REPLY | The messages to the seven churches

of Asia in Revelation 2 – 3 are messages to

literal churches of that day. God was speaking

speci� cally to the Philadelphia church and he

placed these things in His word for us to learn

from today. This does not mean, however, that

we are living in the “Philadelphia church age

today.” God allows each Christian to express

free will and decide what type of Christian they

will be. The value to us

comes when we take the

positive principals and

apply them to

our personal

relationships with

God and man.

Q: What happens when we die? Do we go

directly to heaven? When are Christians

judged?

- Linda

REPLY | The answer all depends on the condition

of one’s soul. For those who have been born

again according to John 3 and Acts 2, they will

enjoy entering into the presence of the Lord

according to II Cor 5:8, “We are con� dent, I say,

and willing rather to be absent from the body,

and to be present with the Lord.” The context

of this passage seems to indicate that our spirit

and soul goes directly to Heaven. The physical

body goes back to the dust of the earth (Gen.

3:19). After the resurrection (rapture) we will

all receive a new body (I Peter 3:21). Romans

14:10 says, “We shall all stand before the

judgment seat of Christ.” According to Rev. 20,

the � nal judgment takes place 1000 years after

the rapture. As for the destiny of those who

have chosen not to walk with God, an example

was given by Jesus in Luke 16:19, about a rich

man who ignored a beggar named Lazarus.

Lazarus went to Heaven with Abraham, but

the rich man wound up in torments (Hell). The

Bible presents this story as true, and not as a

� ctional parable for mere teaching purposes.

REPLY | Yes, Rev. 9:13-16 provides a foundation

for the implementation of the mark of the

beast system. The Antichrist is revealed at the

time of the Abomination of Desolation (Mat.

24), which happens in the middle of the �nal 7

years, 3 1/2 years or 42 months (Rev. 13:5) after

the Con�rmation of the Covenant (Daniel 9: 23-

27). Once the Antichrist is revealed in the newly

rebuilt Jewish temple on the Temple Mount in

Jerusalem (II Thes. 2:4), then he will soon usher

in the global-wide numbering system, designed

to control the personal buying habits of human

beings worldwide, thus gaining control of the

world economy itself.

As far as when the false prophet comes on the

scene, Rev. 13 tells us that he is actually the

one who persuades the world to worship the

Antichrist using false miracles. He helps to force

the implementation of his global numbering

system (666). In order for the false prophet to

help usher in the revealing of the Antichrist at

the Abomination of Desolation, he will have to

be very active prior to the revealing. Many who

understand prophecy will recognize who he is

based on the scriptures.

Q: How do you think two billion people could

die? We Americans have a see no evil, hear

no evil mentality as long as the good times

keep rolling, which is a similar mentality of

those in the roaring 20’s before the crash.

We can speculate what the scenario will

be, but the fact is, the mark is coming as

prophesied and we can not prevent it, only

delay the inevitable. Isn’t there enough pain

and su�ering and evil in this world today?

As far as I’m concerned let’s get on with

eternity, even so come Lord Jesus. Keep up

the good work Irvin Baxter and sta�. Your

program is one that makes end time news

and biblical truth an unavoidable issue for

humanity. Though it may be a di�cult pill

to swallow, a needed pill none the less. Just

be careful concerning the speculating! The

REPLY | It would be nearly impossible to have

2 billion casualties without going nuclear.

The scripture also seems to indicate that

nuclear weapons will be used at the battle of

Armageddon according to Zechariah 14:12,

“And this shall be the plague wherewith the

LORD will smite all the people that have fought

against Jerusalem; Their �esh shall consume

away while they stand upon their feet, and

their eyes shall consume away in their holes,

and their tongue shall consume away in their

mouth.” Most of the major nations which will

most likely be involved in the 6th trumpet war

are nuclear capable nations. The news has been

echoing world leaders’ statements regarding

their potential use.

Q: My son, Andrew (13 yrs) and I are really

into your prophecy series and enjoy it. We

are trying to �gure out, based on news

articles on RFID chips, will RFID will be part

of the mark of the Beast? Do you discuss it

REPLY | We are glad to hear that Endtime material

is a blessing to you all. The passage where the

Mark of the Beast is found is Revelation 13:16-18.

Verse 18 contains the phrase, “Six hundred

threescore and six,” (666), which is derived

from the original Greek words: chi xi stigma

(pronounced key z stigma). This is the number

of the beast or of a man (the Antichrist). The last

Greek word in the phrase, stigma, represents the

�nal 6, and it literally means to stick or to prick,

a mark incised or punched for recognition of

ownership. Today, it is becoming increasingly

popular for RFID chips to be surgically implanted

under human skin. This procedure has been

approved and encouraged by both the US Food

and Drug Administration, and the American

Medical Association. We are not saying for sure

that RFID implants will be the mechanism used

by the Antichrist, however, it’s a real possibility

which we cannot ignore. Endtime Ministries has

Q: I love the teaching, and prophetic

insight of Rev. Baxter. I was privileged

to enjoy Endtime’s holy land prophecy

tour in the fall of 1995. In fact I was there

when Israeli Prime Minister Rabin was

assassinated. It was an awesome trip

that has ever impacted my life. Who are

God’s real chosen people? In the Bible,

Judah-Benjamin were taken captive by

the Babylonians, mixed with them, and

then adopted the Babylonian religions.

her lengthy history, and many times, she made

very poor choices which cost her dearly. The

fact remains, however, that according to Ezekiel

37, God promised to gather the Jewish people

back to their land, which you toured, and re-

establish them as a nation. This was ful�lled

in 1948. This same passage also prophesies a

supernatural spiritual awakening for Israel that

still is yet a future event.

God promised in Joel 2:28 to pour out His Spirit

upon all �esh in the last days, which includes

the nation of Israel. Furthermore, Romans

11:25 provides this promise to the last-days

Jews: “blindness in part is happened to Israel,

until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26

And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,

There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and

shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27

For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall

AL-QAIDA PLANS NUCLEAR ATTACKS

ON 7 U.S. CITIES

FBI Director Robert Mueller said that al-

Qaida’s paramount goal is to kill hundreds of

thousands of Americans. He said the threat

feels so real he lies awake at night thinking

about the prospect. In the book “The Day

of Islam”, author Paul Williams maintains

that al-Qaida is not content to blow up one

nuclear device or even simply a “dirty” nuke,

but wants to explode real nuclear devices in

seven U.S. cities simultaneously.

BUSH WARNS OF IRAN NUCLEAR

‘HOLOCAUST’

In a speech to an American Legion group

in Nevada, and in an e� ort to convince

the war-weary public, President Bush said

that the war in Iraq was the central front in

the � ght against what he described as the

Sunni Muslim extremism of the al-Qaeda

terrorist network and the Shi’ite extremism

fuelled by Iran. He warned that letting Iran

acquire atomic weapons risked putting

the Middle East “under the shadow of a

nuclear holocaust.”

CHINA THREATENS ‘NUCLEAR OPTION’

The Chinese government has begun a

concerted campaign of economic threats

against the United States. It appears that

Beijing may use its $1.33 trillion of foreign

reserves as a political weapon to counter

pressure from the U.S. Congress. Described

EURO HITS ALL-TIME HIGH

The euro reached a new all-time high

against the dollar. At its highest point, one

euro bought 1.4130 dollars. Pessimism

about the U.S. economy, worsened by the

rate cut pushed the dollar further down.

EU’S SOLANA REFUSES COMMENT ON

NON-UN SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana refused

to comment on the possibility of non-United

Nations sanctions against Iran. Solana’s

comments came after French Prime Minister

Francois Fillon said that tensions with

Iran were now ‘extreme’. Solana has been

negotiating to get Iran to suspend uranium

enrichment in exchange for political and

trade incentives.

According to an article written by a

noted Norwegian blogger, Fjordman,

multiculturalism is a tool to divide and

conquer. He points out that by dismantling

national borders, the EU has facilitated the

largest migration waves in European history,

and that Stalin did the same thing with

moving large population groups around to

unsettle the state and keep it disunited. He

says that people proclaiming that they are

“citizens of the world” fail to acknowledge

that rights can only be protected by

sovereign states upholding their territorial

and legal integrity.

According to the � rst authoritative analysis,

the new European Union treaty contains only

10 changes to the 250 proposals originally

outlined in the former EU constitution.

William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary,

said it was “the EU constitution by another

name”. “By any honest analytical standards,

this treaty will mean, if it is enacted, a major

transfer of powers from Britain to the EU,” he

said.

said Keith Johnson, a retired toxicologic

pathologist.

ARIZONA ADOPTS HYBRID ID

Arizona is now the third state to volunteer

to develop a hybrid identi� cation card that

combines a state driver’s license with a U.S.

border-crossing card. Arizona’s new driver’s

ALZHEIMER’S PATIENTS LINING UP

FOR MICROCHIP

Up to 200 Alzheimer’s patients living near

Palm Beach, Fla., have been implanted with

the VeriChip. The chip contains a 16-digit

identi� cation number, and the number will

be placed in a database in order to provide

medical information. Ida Frankel, who

developed Alzheimer’s disease, was one

of the � rst patients to be implanted with a

VeriChip.

MICROCHIP IMPLANTS RAISE

PRIVACY CONCERN’

The “chipping” of two workers with RFID

chips under the skin was merely a way of

restricting access to vaults that held sensitive

data and images for police departments,

according to CityWatcher.com, a provider

of surveillance equipment. The news that

workers had been injected with electronic

identi� ers to perform their jobs � red up a

debate over the proliferation of ever-more-

precise tracking technologies and their

ability to erode privacy. “Ultimately,” says

Katherine Albrecht, a privacy advocate, “the

fear is that the government or your employer

might someday say, ‘Take a chip or starve.’”

ARCHEOLOGISTS FIND 2ND

TEMPLE QUARRY

The Israel Antiquities Authority has

uncovered the ancient quarry where

King Herod’s workers chiseled huge high-

quality limestones for the construction of

the Second Temple. This is the � rst Second

Temple quarry ever found. The enormous

size of the stones found at the site as well

as coins and fragments of pottery vessels

dating back to the � rst century AD indicated

that this was the site used 2,000 years ago in

the construction of the walls of the Temple

Mount.

UN ENVOY: REVIVED MIDEAST

TALKS POSSIBLE

Michael Williams, the U.N. special coordinator

for the Middle East peace process, said

there are “signs of hope” that Israel and

the Palestinians can agree to revive the

stalled peace process in time for a related

November. He said the dialogue that’s been

going on between Israeli Prime Minister

Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President

Mahmoud Abbas are encouraging signals.

newspaper, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

examined a plan in which Israel would

status agreement and implementing it.

Olmert met with Mahmoud Abbas and they

agreed that cooperation between Israel

and the Palestinian Authority would be

expanded. “Our mutual goal is to realize the

shared vision between us and [U.S. President

George] Bush regarding the establishment

of two states for two peoples, who live side

by side in security and peace. We want to

achieve this as soon as possible.”

BAN KI-MOON ADVOCATES STRONGER

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon opened his

� rst annual debate of the General Assembly

with a call to global leaders to back his

changing world needs a stronger UN,“ Mr.

Ban declared. On the Middle East, he said,

“With renewed leadership from the Arab

world and the United States, coupled with

the e� orts of Quartet Representative Tony

PUTIN DISSOLVES RUSSIAN

President Vladimir Putin dissolved Russia’s

government in a political shakeup

ahead of parliamentary and presidential

elections. The dissolution is expected to

result in a new prime minister, who will

be seen as Putin’s choice to succeed him.

‘AMERO’ MAKES COINAGE DEBUT

Parody coin designer Daniel Carr has

launched production of an “amero” coin.

He is selling the coins to coin dealers and

collectors. An Internet blogger said that

the news of the coins had been making

UN REJECTS TAIWAN ADMISSION

APPLICATION

The United Nations has rejected Taiwan’s

application to become a member of the

world body, citing its adherence to the

“one China” policy. Taiwan President Chen

Shui-bian announced in June plans for

a referendum that would support the

government’s bid to enter the U.N., and

presidential spokesman David Lee said the

referendum plans will not be a� ected by the

UN’s decision.

CHIEF RABBIS, EU PRESIDENT DISCUSS

‘INTERFAITH UN’

European Parliament President Hans-

Gert Pottering, in a meeting with Israel’s

chief rabbis, said that he would support

the establishment of an “interfaith United

Nations”. Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yona

Metzger said the president sent an envoy

to discuss in more detail the creation of an

international body made up of religious

leaders who could foster peace, and that he

envisions the body being based in the holy

city of Jerusalem.

ISLAMIC EDUCATION FOR ALL

A new government study, condemned by

the Christian ministry, the Barnabas Fund,

is being condemned because it would

move closer to imposing Islam in the United

Kingdom as “a religion of state.” “Should this

report be implemented, education will be

handed over more and more to Muslims,”

according to a Barnabas Fund analysis.

LISTEN TO EARTH, POPE SAYS IN

ENVIRONMENTAL PLEA

As Pope Benedict was concluding his holiday

in northern Italy this year, he said the human

race must listen to “the voice of the Earth” or

risk destroying its very existence. He also

said there is much scienti� c proof to support

evolution, but the theory could not exclude

a role by God.

The prophecy hits you in the face like a ton of bricks! “And

the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an

hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for TO SLAY THE

THIRD PART OF MEN.” (Revelation 9:15)

My � rst reaction was…that can’t really be what the

prophecy says! To slay the third part of men? That would

be two billion people dead! Surely not!

I checked the Greek. Sure enough…one-third of

mankind. I checked several other translations—one-third

of the human race; one-third of all the people on earth;

one-third of humanity. They all said the same thing!

A WAR IS JUST AHEAD THAT WILL KILL TWO BILLION

HUMAN BEINGS!

There simply is no precedent!

So that we can understand the enormity of this

prophecy, consider that, prior to the 20th century, there

had never been a war with one million fatalities. In 1914,

World War I broke out resulting in the death of 8.2 million

human beings! They called it The Great War! Some said it

would be the war to end all wars. But it wasn’t.

Twenty short years later, the world was plunged into

World War II. This time there were not 8.2 million killed.

This time—52 million! It was as though something had

come unhinged within the human soul! Six thousand

years of recorded human history and not one war with

1 million fatalities. Then, within 20 years of each other,

two wars had claimed 8.2 million and 52 million lives.

Even more ominous were the two mushroom clouds that

towered over Hiroshima and Nagasaki as World War II

came to its apocalyptic conclusion.

Fear around the globe was palpable. What would the

next war produce…with these new weapons of mass

destruction � lling the arsenals of the world’s nations?

World leaders just refused to think the unthinkable. But it

was frighteningly obvious that mankind now possessed

the power to wipe all life o� the face of the planet—many

times over.

In a desperate attempt to insure that World War III

would never happen, the nations of the world decided

to create an organization designed to prevent war. They

called it the United Nations. Though many small wars

have raged around the globe since 1945, so far this new

system of global governance has contributed to avoiding

the nightmare scenario of World War III. All of us hope

that the tenuous peace that has largely prevailed will

The only question is “When?”

hold. But will it? No!

The prophecy is crystal clear. World War III is coming!

This time, there won’t be 8.2 million dead. There won’t be

52 million dead. This time 2 billion human beings will be

annihilated from the face of the earth! We are talking about

40 times the fatalities of World War II! It’s almost impossible

to comprehend, but it is going to happen. The only question

is: “When?”

The war will start in Iraq!

According to Revelation 9:14, the prophesied war will

originate from the area of the Euphrates River. The Euphrates

River is located mostly in Iraq where the United States has

170,000 troops stationed at this present time. Since �ghting

is raging along the Euphrates today, we have to ask if the

Sixth Trumpet War might already have begun.

A war that kills two billion people will obviously be

a World War, making it World War III. James Woolsey, CIA

Director during the Clinton administration, says that World

War III began on 9/11. Thomas Friedman of the New York

Times agrees with him. Former Speaker of the House Newt

Gingrich also believes that World War III started on 9/11.

Finally, President Bush has added his voice to those who

contend we are now in WW III. On May 6, 2006, he stated

that the revolt of passengers on Flight 93 was, “The �rst

counter-attack of World War III.”

When does the Bible say this war will occur?

The Sixth Trumpet War must occur before the

beginning of the great tribulation. The great tribulation is

that three and one-half year period that will immediately

precede the Battle of Armageddon. How do we know

the Euphrates River War must happen before the great

tribulation begins?

This prophesied war occurs in Revelation 9:13-21.

Right after this in Revelation 10, the beginning of the great

tribulation is recorded. In verse 5, an angel stands with

one foot on the land and one foot on the water declaring

that delay shall be no longer. Right after this, Revelation 11

describes the events of the �nal three and one-half years

preceding the Battle of Armageddon. In Revelation 11:2, we

are told that Jerusalem will be trodden down of the Gentiles

for the next 42 months (3 ½ years). Then in Revelation 11:3,

God’s two witnesses begin their ministries, which continue

for the next 1260 days (3 ½ years) until the end of the

tribulation period.

At the end of Revelation 11, the two witnesses are

killed, the last trumpet sounds, and the Battle of Armageddon

takes place. It is at this time that Jesus Christ returns to earth

to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

This same sequence of events is recorded in Daniel

12:1-7. An angel stands upon the waters and declares that

there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since

there was a nation even to that time, referring to the great

tribulation. One asked the angel how long it would be until

all this was over. He answered, “Until a time, times, and an

half” (3 ½ years).

Both of these accounts describe an angel declaring

the beginning of a time of great tribulation, which will last

for three and one-half years.

Within the next 12 months?

According to the biblical prophetic timeline given

in scripture, four major prophetic ful�llments will occur at

approximately the same time.

If we can demonstrate that all four of these prophetic

developments are occurring right now, then it becomes

obvious that the time for the Euphrates River War has

arrived! Please walk through the prophecies with me.

An international peace plan for the Middle East

Daniel 9:27 prophesies that the world community

and the leader of the world community, the Antichrist,

will con�rm the Abrahamic covenant with many for seven

years. The Abrahamic covenant is the promise God made

to Abraham that the Promised Land would be given to his

descendants. The passage is Genesis 15:18,

“In the same day the LORD made a covenant with

Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from

the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:”

This con�rmation of the covenant will con�rm Israel’s

right to exist in the Holy Land and will mark the beginning

of the �nal seven years to Armageddon. Halfway through

the �nal seven years, the Antichrist will order the stopping

of animal sacri�ces on the Temple Mount, which will have

been resumed by then. He will then stand in the temple

claiming to be God. This could mean he will claim to be the

ultimate authority over the Temple Mount since it will have

been placed under international supervision by then.

Does such an international peace plan exist?

In 2002, it was decided that Israelis and Palestinians

simply could not make peace between themselves without

international intervention. A new international alliance was

formed called the Quartet. The alliance consisted of the

United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United

Nations. Its sole purpose of existence was to produce a

peace plan for the Middle East and to oversee its adoption.

In April of 2003, the Quartet presented a peace plan

to Israelis and Palestinians called the Roadmap for Peace.

The Roadmap called for the determining of �nal borders

between the Palestinians and the Israelis, settling the status

of Jerusalem and settling the status of the Temple Mount.

In June of 2003, the Roadmap for Peace was adopted

by Israelis and Palestinians at a signing ceremony that

President Bush attended. Since that time, the international

community has struggled to implement the Roadmap

without success.

At the beginning of 2007, the White House

announced that peace in the Middle East would be

one of the premier goals of President Bush’s � nal two

years in o� ce. A full-blown initiative to reach this goal

was launched.

Meetings of the Quartet were held, and a steady stream

of visits to the Middle East by high pro� le diplomats began.

These included the new Secretary General of the United

Nations Ban Ki Moon, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza

Rice, and European Union High Representative of Foreign

A� airs Javier Solana.

In June of 2007, the

Quartet upped the ante even

farther. They appointed Tony

Blair, the high-pro� le former

prime minister of Great Britain,

to be the special envoy to the

Middle East. In July, President

Bush announced his intention

to host an international

conference on the Middle

East with the goal of bringing

the implementation of the

Roadmap for Peace to a

successful conclusion.

Under the intense

diplomatic pressure, Israeli

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

and Palestinian Authority

Chairman Mahmoud Abbas

agreed to begin meeting

face-to-face bi-weekly. The

purpose of these meetings

was to pound out a general

agreement on core issues

for adoption at the peace

conference, tentatively announced for November 15, 2007.

Those core issues were de� ned as � nal borders, status of

Palestinian refugees, the status of Jerusalem and the status

of the Temple Mount.

If a general agreement can be attained before the

conference on these core issues, then negotiators will � esh

out the details of a � nal peace treaty within the six months

after the conference. This would allow the signing of the

treaty during the � nal year of the Bush administration.

Will a peace agreement on the Middle East be achieved?

According to the prophecies of the Bible, some form

of an agreement will be reached on the status of the Temple

Mount. Revelation 11:1-2 states that a rebuilt Jewish temple

will be under Jewish control while the outer court of the

temple will be under Gentile control. This arrangement

will continue during the 42 months preceding the Battle of

Armageddon.

Jesus also stated that Judea (the West Bank) would be

a place of terrible tribulation during this same 42 months.

This indicates that this area will be placed under the control

of Israel’s enemies.

From these speci� c prophecies, we can conclude

that a peace agreement will take place, and when this

occurs, it will mark the beginning of the � nal seven years to

Armageddon.

The building of Israel’s temple on the Temple Mount

We have two speci� c prophecies that describe a

temple standing on the Temple Mount three and one-half

years before Armageddon. II

Thessalonians 2:3-4 states that the

man of sin, the Antichrist, will sit in

the temple of God, claiming to be

God. This is the event known as the

abomination of desolation, which

occurs three and one-half years

before Armageddon. It’s obvious

that the Antichrist cannot sit in a

temple if there isn’t one. Revelation

11:1-2 describes the measuring of

a temple on the Temple Mount 42

months before Armageddon and

the Second Coming. Of course,

a temple couldn’t possibly be

measured if none existed.

Since both of these prophecies

foretell that a temple will exist

three and one-half years before

Armageddon, we know for certain

that the temple has to be built

prior to this time.

When will the temple be built?

When Israel’s First Temple

was completed in 968 BC, King

Solomon o� ered an animal sacri� ce at the dedication. After

this, daily sacri� ces were o� ered as mandated by scripture.

When the Second Temple was completed in 516 BC, again

the daily sacri� ces were instituted.

When the Third Temple is completed, sacri� ces will be

o� ered again. How do we know this? The Bible prophesies

that the Antichrist will cause the sacri� ce and the oblation

to stop. You can’t stop sacri� ces that are not in progress.

Why will the Antichrist stop the sacri� ces?

Imagine the cameras of CNN and other news services

honing in on the little lamb being o� ered for the morning

sacri� ce and then another little lamb being sacri� ced that

evening. In our present animal rights climate, how long will

it take for the animal rights activists to begin marching

with placards: ANIMALS HAVE RIGHTS TOO! BARBARISM IN

THE 21st CENTURY! It won’t take long.

We know that the sacri�ces are stopped in the midst

of the �nal seven years (Daniel 9:27). From this we can

conclude that the building of the temple will be completed

not too long before this midway point.

How close are we to the building of the Third Temple?

For many years, the Temple Institute in Jerusalem has

been preparing the furniture and the utensils of the temple

in anticipation of the time when the temple will be rebuilt.

Within the last two years, the Institute has announced that

these preparations are now complete.

On October 13, 2004, the Jewish Sanhedrin was

reborn after being disbanded for 1,600 years. The

Sanhedrin was Israel’s supreme court in biblical times. It

was the Sanhedrin that put Jesus and many of the apostles

on trial.

At the Sanhedrin’s monthly meeting in June of

2005, they decided it was time to begin the rebuilding of

the temple. Since the Israeli government does not allow

Jewish religious activity on the Temple Mount, it was

decided that the temple would be built o�-site, in the

same way that Solomon’s temple was built o�-site and

then assembled on the Temple Mount. The decision was

made to prefabricate the building of the temple for quick

assembly once permission is granted by the government

to construct it.

On March 22, 2007, an article appeared in the Religion

News Service announcing the Sanhedrin’s plan to o�er a

Passover Sacri�ce. They planned to sacri�ce sheep on the

Temple Mount on the day before the Passover, which was

to start at sundown April 2. “If the government will not

resist, we will do it,” said Rabbi Dov Stein, a member of

the Sanhedrin.

The Sanhedrin bought a herd of 12 sheep, 110-150

pounds each, from a farm in southern Israel. “Anyone

wanting to eat of the sacri�ce can pay seven shekels ($1.67)

for an 8-10 gram slice, the minimum required by Jewish

law,” Stein said.

The only thing standing between Israel and the

prophesied rebuilding of her temple is an agreement on

the status of the Temple Mount, which the Roadmap for

Peace calls for.

Preparations for the mark of the beast

Preparations for the mark of the beast must take

place in the �rst three and one-half years of the �nal seven,

since the mark will be implemented during the reign of the

Antichrist, which takes place during the last three and a

half years.

The prophecy states: “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor,

free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or

in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell,

save he that had the mark, or the name

of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Revelation 13:16-17

Economic sanctions are the favorite tool of the

United Nations against those states that will not submit

to the edicts of the world community. When sanctions are

levied against a nation, as is now being done to Iran, the

member nations of the UN agree to not trade with that

nation. The goal is to create such economic pressure that

the o�ending nation will submit to the will of the world

government structure.

This same practice of sanctions will be used by

the world government during the great tribulation.

However, it will not only be used against nations, but also

against individuals.

The Antichrist will control the people of the world

during the great tribulation by forcing every person on

earth to worship him (pledge allegiance to him). Those who

do will be given a mark or a number permitting them to

participate in the economy of the world. Those who refuse

will be sanctioned economically by denying them the

“privilege” of buying and selling. Only since the invention

of the computer and the birth of the Internet has such a

system of worldwide economic control been possible.

The system is being set up now!

On May 11, 2005, President Bush signed the Real ID Act.

This law, advocated by the 9/11 Commission, was designed

to give the government control over every person in the

United States. The rationale behind this huge suspension

of freedom was that the only way to spot terrorists is to be

able to track and control everybody.

The Real ID Act mandates that every American have a

national ID card obtained from their state Bureau of Motor

Vehicles, by May 11, 2008. Coded into this card will be your

birth certi�cate, your number (SS number), your digitized

picture, and your biometric identi�cation (�ngerprint or

eyescan).

It is rather sobering that the prophecy states the mark

will be in the hand or the forehead. Our �ngerprints are on

our hands, and our eyes are in our foreheads. Too close for

comfort, isn’t it!

The key to total control

The Real ID Act requires that each state place all this

information into the database of the BMV. Furthermore, the

state is then required to link its database with the databases

of the other 49 states—creating a national database. Once

every person’s information is placed into the national

database, the federal government can then access your

records at the push of a button!

Furthermore, without a national ID card, a person

won’t be able to board an airplane, open a bank account or

access any service requiring approved federal ID.

Without your ID card, you can’t buy or sell

Sec. 707 of Homeland Security’s Immigration Bill

reveals exactly what proponents of big government intend

to do. Section 707 is titled: Report on social security card-

based employment eligibility veri�cation.

(A) A requirement that social security cards that are

made of a durable plastic or similar material and that include

an encrypted, machine-readable electronic identi�cation

strip and a digital photograph of the individual to whom

the card is issued, be issued to each individual (whether or

not a United States citizen).

(B) The creation of a uni�ed database to be maintained

by the Department of Homeland Security and comprised

of data from the Social Security Administration and the

Department of Homeland Security specifying the work

authorization of individuals (including both United States

citizens and non-citizens) for the purpose of conducting

employment eligibility veri�cation.

(C) A requirement that all employers verify the

employment eligibility of all new hires using the social

security cards described in subparagraph (A) and a phone,

electronic card-reading, or other mechanism to seek

veri�cation of employment eligibility through the use of

the uni�ed database described in subparagraph (B).

This bill would have required you to have a national

ID or else you would have been unable to hold a job in

America! No job? No buying and selling! The administration

and Homeland Security pushed for the passage of the

Immigration Bill with all of their might. Thankfully, it went

down to defeat. However, the danger is not past.

In spite of this decisive defeat, Homeland Security is

determined to enforce its system of total control over the

populace through its national ID scheme. The Real ID Act is

still law and due to be implemented starting May 11, 2008.

You can be sure that Homeland Security fully intends to

�nd another way to require a national ID as a condition of

employment.

Realizing that the implementation of the national ID

would spell the end of freedom, as we have known it, many

states are moving to reverse the Real ID Act. Seven states

have now passed laws against its implementation. Twenty-

seven others have either passed resolutions against it or

have introduced bills against it in their state legislatures.

The government is justifying this obsession with

control by contending that the security of the nation

requires it. However, we must not forget that control and

freedom are opposite terms. If we are controlled, we are

not free.

What’s behind the Real ID?

CNET news disclosed on October 26, 2005 what’s

behind this drive for the implementation of a national

ID. The International Civil Aviation Organization, a United

Nations agency, has set “globally interoperable” standards

for identi�cation documents. So what we are really

witnessing is not just the setting up of a national ID. We

are actually experiencing the establishment of a global ID

system.

Great Britain is also in the process of establishing

a national ID card. George Bush and Tony Blair agreed

that Britain’s cards would be readable on America’s card-

reading machines and America’s cards would be readable

on Britain’s machines. Then the other 26 nations in the EU

decided they should make their ID cards compatible with

Britain’s ID cards; thus they will also be compatible with

our cards. Consequently, the national ID will now be good

in the U.S. and throughout Europe! You get the idea. The

national ID is quickly being transformed into a global ID.

Is the mechanism for the mark of the beast being put in

place right now? Obviously!

The Euphrates River War

The fourth prophecy that will be ful�lled just before

the �nal three and one-half years begins is the Euphrates

River War. Obviously, this prophecy does not even require

discussion. The fact that it is in process of ful�llment at this

moment is self-evident. The United States has 170,000 troops

�ghting up and down the Euphrates at this present time.

Since all four of these prophetic ful�llments are in

progress right now, it appears certain that the present

Euphrates River War is the Euphrates River War of Revelation

9:13-21. If this is true, then we know that two billion people

will die before this war comes to its culmination.

President Bush has about one year left of his term. Since

this is his war and considering that he has the temperament

to participate in such a war, it certainly seems probable

that the prophesied apocalypse will occur while he is yet

in o�ce.

If these things prove to be true, then two billion

human beings will die in the next 12 months!

God help us all!

Will the national ID become the mark of the beast?

All of the elements needed for establishing

the prophesied mark of the beast are present in the

requirements of the Real ID Act. The only thing that

would have to be added would be some type of pledge

of allegiance to the Antichrist or to his one-world

government. If the Real ID Act is not repealed, it appears

almost certain that it will ultimately become the mark of

the beast.

The entire world is preparing for the mark

Out of 193 nations on earth, 188 of them either have

a national ID card or are in the process of implementing

one. The only nations without a national ID are Mexico,

Ireland, Congo, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

Even though there have been numerous attempts

to disprove the Jewish Holocaust ever occurred, it

has been unequivocally documented by the survivors

and guards of the Nazi death camps, and from the

testimony taken during the 1945 Nuremburg War

crimes hearings.

Since his election in June 2005, Iranian President

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ridiculed Jewish history

and sparked worldwide criticism by referring to the

Holocaust as a “myth,” a “legend” that was fabricated

by the United States and Europe to justify the creation

of “a Jewish state in Palestine.”

In 2006, Iran even hosted a two-day international

conference for likeminded naysayers who also dismiss

WKH� DQQLKLODWLRQ� RI� VL[� PLOOLRQ� -HZV� DV� ¿�FWLRQ� RU�

exaggeration. Addressing the gathering, Ahmadinejad

blamed the Holocaust for all of the turmoil in the

Middle East. He challenged the group to consider,

“if the Holocaust’s truth is ruled out, root causes

of problems and crimes in the Middle East will be

terminated.”

This is the same Ahmadinejad who has openly

boasted, “Israel will vanish just like the Soviet Union

collapsed, and humanity will be liberated.” His stated

goal is the same as Adolph Hitler’s Final Solution 60

years ago. In his own words, Israel must be “wiped off

the map,” and “driven into the sea.”

What Are Iran’s Nuclear Capabilities?

For almost twenty years, Iran successfully concealed

its nuclear fuel program until U.S. satellite photos

FRQ¿�UPHG�LWV�QXFOHDU�IDFLOLWLHV�LQ��7KLV�IRUFHG�,UDQ�

to reveal in 2003 its uranium enrichment program and

invite the UN monitoring body, the International Atomic

Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit.

In November 2004, Tehran promised Germany,

France, and Britain that it would cease its uranium

enrichment program. The IAEA approved the agreement,

and Iran avoided UN Security Council intervention. Iran

promptly ignored the agreement and pursued its nuclear

activities, claiming they were for peaceful purposes

only.

On December 23, 2006, the Security Council

unanimously adopted Resolution 1737 (2006), which

imposed sanctions to block the import or export of

VHQVLWLYH�QXFOHDU�PDWHULDOV�WR�,UDQ�DQG�IUHH]H�WKH�¿�QDQFLDO�

assets of persons or entities that support Iran’s nuclear

weapons development. Iran immediately rejected the

UHVROXWLRQ�� DGGLQJ� WKDW� WKH� ¿�IWHHQ� FRXQWULHV� YRWLQJ� LQ�

favor would regret it.

On March 24, 2007 the Security Council passed

Resolution 1747, which tightened sanctions against

Iran and expanded the freeze on assets and aid,

except for humanitarian purposes. Iran immediately

denounced the resolution as “illegal” and continued

to expand its nuclear program, asserting that it has as

much right as the U.S. and other nations to develop

nuclear capabilities.

Why are sanctions unsuccessful?

For the past six months, the UN sanctions have

failed to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions. By now there

should be a growing realization that the process of

endless dialog and toothless sanctions are ineffective.

Time is on Iran’s side, and Ahmadinejad knows it. He

watched the same game of diplomacy between the UN

Security Council and North Korea. As the talks dragged

on, North Korea continued to develop its nuclear arsenal

and now claims it has several nuclear devices. Iran is not

far behind.

Even so, the Bush administration is pushing for

increased sanctions, though the Security Council has not

carried out the existing penalties. To Bush’s dismay, the

U.S. is losing support

from Russia, China,

and several European

nations, which blame

the U.S. for the lack of

enforcement.

Does Iran have the capability to destroy Israel?

The Jerusalem Post reported on September 17,

2007 there were six hundred Iranian Shihab-3 missiles

pointed at various targets throughout Israel. According

to the Iranian news website, Assar Iran, “Iran will

shoot at Israel 600 missiles if it is attacked,” and

³��PLVVLOHV�ZLOO�RQO\�EH�WKH�¿�UVW�UHDFWLRQ�´

The Shihab-3 has a range of 1,300 km, and it

can reach anywhere in Israel from Iran. According to a

Middle East Intelligence Bulletin from August 2000, the

Shihab-3 has negligible value as a conventional weapon

due to its lack of target precision. Its true value is its


ability to deliver nuclear, chemical, or biological agents

of mass destruction.

Former U.S. Speaker of the House of

Representatives Newt Gingrich, is not swayed by

Ahmadinejad’s claim of pure intentions. “The Israeli

people are facing the threat of a nuclear Holocaust,”

he warned at a conference held earlier this year by the

Institute For Policy and Strategy.

How are world leaders responding to Iran’s

latest threat?

In mid-September, French Foreign Minister

Bernard Koucher referred to the situation as, “the

Iranian nuclear crisis” that has forced the world,

“to prepare for the worst, and the worst is war.”

Koucher was also quoted by the French newspaper,

/H�)LJDUR��DV�VD\LQJ��³RQH�FDQQRW�¿�QG�LQ�WKH�HQWLUH�ZRUOG�

a crisis greater than this one,” referring to Iran’s open

threat to annihilate Israel

and her allies, namely the

United States. President

Ahmadinejad dismissed

Koucher’s remarks

and accused France

of, “copying the White

House,” and taking “on

an American skin.”

To the contrary, in a

speaking engagement

at Emory University

in September, former

President Jimmy

Carter stated it seemed

“inconceivable” that Iran

would “commit suicide”

by launching missiles at

Israel. He concluded that

the unrest between Israel

and the Palestinians in

Gaza and the West Bank present a greater threat to

the Middle East than Iran.

On the other hand, President Bush believes

Iran is serious about its threats against Israel, which

would throw the Middle East into chaos. Bush has

publicly denounced Iran’s plans and tried to pressure

Ahmadinejad to abandon his nuclear program aimed at

developing atomic weapons.

The United States Air Force has established a

Editor’s note: Many of you have requested information on what to do if America does become the target of a nuclear attack. This article is being made available in response to those requests. The 6th Trumpet War is expected to be a Nuclear War. The Bible tells us that the end result of this war is that one-third of mankind will die. Many have asked questions about things we might do to prepare ourselves for this event and its aftermath. The following information and guidelines are intended to both educate and aid you in forming a plan of action so that you and your family might EHWWHU�FRSH�ZLWK�WKRVH�À�UVW�GD\V�DQG�ZHHNV�DIWHU�D�nuclear strike. Since so many will perish in this war, the most important thing anyone can do is to be sure you are ready to meet the Lord, and help as many others to be ready as you possibly can. For those who survive, there are some things you should be aware of and plan for. In an all out nuclear war, military strategists believe that the initial goal of the enemy would be to knock out communications by detonating a nuclear weapon above the earth’s atmosphere to create an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). It is believed that an EMP can seriously damage electronic devices connected to power sources or antennas including communication systems, computers, electrical appliances, and automobile or aircraft ignition systems. According to FEMA, the damage could range from a minor interruption to actual burnout of components. Most electronic equipment within 1,000 miles of a high-altitude nuclear detonation could be affected. (Battery-powered radios with short antennas generally would not be affected.) The EMP is unlikely to harm people.��,Q�VXFK�D�VFHQDULR��SHRSOH�FRXOG�À�QG�WKHPVHOYHV�without the ability to communicate with anyone or get information on what is happening beyond their immediate surroundings. It is not possible to know the day of the week or time of day that a nuclear strike would occur, therefore it is possible that family members could be at a variety of locations, such as work or school, and unable to get home. Automobiles may not operate, and there would be no electricity. Therefore, it is in your family’s best interest to formulate a plan of what you will GR�GXULQJ� WKRVH�À�UVW� IHZ�GD\V�DQG�ZHHNV�DIWHU� D�nuclear strike. It could be of some comfort if you

know that a stranded loved one has a planned procedure of where to go and what to do at given locations after a nuclear strike.

Targets Military experts believe that primary targets would be missile silos, bomber bases, submarine bases, and command and control centers. Other targets might include major military, industrial, governmental, transportation, and population centers. The effects of a nuclear explosion will vary greatly depending on weather, geography, size of the weapon, etc. If the weapon is detonated above ground there will be less fallout than with a weapon that detonates at or near the ground. The blast will pulse outward for several miles. For those who are far enough away to survive the blast, your immediate need will be for shelter from fallout, and possibly medical help.

Medical Help Those survivors who are nearest to the blast DUH�OLNHO\�WR�UHFHLYH�À�UVW��VHFRQG� and even third degree burns. They may also receive injuries from Á�\LQJ� GHEULV�� 0RVW�survivors will be forced to live under primitive medical conditions, but remember that the majority of mankind survived under such conditions for most of human history. The following information will give you some simple rules to follow with some of the medical needs that could arise.

1. Prayer is always in order and should b e \RXU�À�UVW�VWHS�LQ�DQ\�HPHUJHQF\��medical or otherwise.

2. Remember that radiation sickness is NOT contagious! You can’t get sick by helping those who have been exposed.

3. Wounds: Apply only pressure dressings to stop bleeding unless an artery has been cut. If blood is spurting from a wound, apply both a pressure dressing and a windlass-type tourniquet. Loosen the tourniquet pressure about every 15 minutes, to DOORZ� HQRXJK� EORRG� WR� UHDFK� WKH� Á�HVK� EH\RQG� WKH�tourniquet and keep it alive. There is a fair chance that clotting under the pressure dressing will stop blood loss before it becomes fatal.

4. Infected wounds: Do not change dressings frequently. The formation of white pus shows that white corpuscles are mobilizing to combat the infection. In World War I, wounded soldiers in hospitals suffered agonies having their wounds cleaned and dressed frequently: many died as a result of such harmful care. In contrast, before antibiotics became available late in World War II, casts and dressings on infected wounds sometimes were not changed for weeks.

5. Pieces of glass deeply embedded: Do not probe with tweezers or a knife in an attempt to extract them. Most glass will come out when the wounds discharge pus.

6. Burns: Cover the area securely with a clean, dry dressing or folded cloth. Do not change the dressing frequently. For most burns, the bandage need not be removed until the tenth to fourteenth day.

7. Broken bones: Apply simple splints to keep the bones from moving. Do not worry about deformities: most can be corrected later by a doctor. Do not attempt traction setting of broken bones.

8. Shock: Keep the victim warm. Place blankets or other insulation material under him. Do not cover him with so many blankets that he sweats and suffers harmful Á�XLG�ORVVHV�

The severity of radiation sickness will depend upon the amount of exposure. The human body usually can repair almost all radiation damage if the daily doses are not too large. Typical symptoms of radiation sickness include varying degrees of nausea, diarrhea, and

weakness lasting a day or two in most people, followed by a recovery time of days to weeks, and then a relapse which may be worse than the initial symptoms. Full recovery can take months. If a survivor has been exposed to enough radiation, death can occur within days to weeks.

Shelter The most dangerous emissions from fallout are gamma rays, and avoiding further exposure is your goal. Simple fallout shelters will give the most protection, and there is much information available on the Internet to learn how to build a simple and inexpensive shelter. But unless you have the ability to measure the amount of radiation, you will be unable to know exactly when it

is safe to emerge from a shelter. FEMA suggests that you not begin to emerge sooner than two weeks in lower radiation areas, up to a month in higher radiation areas.

fallout are distance, shielding, and time.

As pressure for an ÒinternationalÓ solution to the Middle East problem mounts with each passing bullet, let us consider what the prophecies forecast for the times just ahead:

A global leader will pave the way for Israel to build her Third Temple. Daily sacriÞ ces in the temple will begin. There will be a war in heaven. Satan will be forbidden access to heaven and will no longer be able to function as the Òaccuser of the brethren.Ó When this happens, the Bible says that the global leader will walk into IsraelÕs temple, stop the sacriÞ ces and claim to be Messiah and God. This event, called in the Bible the Òabomination of desolation,Ó will trigger SatanÕs 3 1/2-year war against the saints. This time of great tribulation is described in Revelation 13:5-7.

ÒAnd there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.Ó

It appears that this time of tribulation will come Þ rst upon the Jewish settlers of Judea, and then will spread from there to Christians the world over (Revelation 12:13,17). But thatÕs only half of the picture.

The other half, much overlooked, is recorded in Daniel 11:32: ÒAnd they that know their God shall be strong and do exploits.Ó Who is this referring to? LetÕs look closer.

Daniel 11:31 records the abomination of desolation. That is when Sa-tan begins his 3 1/2-year power trip. But itÕs also the same time that two prophets from God receive power from on high for the same 3 1/2 years. This is recorded in Revelation 11:3: ÒAnd I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days.Ó The great tribulation will feature the classic battleÑgood vs. evil.

The time for the ministry of the Two Witnesses is close. They are cer-tainly alive on earth right now, but we donÕt yet know who they are.

The account of the Two Witnesses comes to us sandwiched in the midst of the account of the Seven Trumpets ofRevelation. SpeciÞ cally, we read of them between the 6th and 7th Trumpets. Their ministry, therefore, begins after the 6th Trumpet war and continues until the sounding of the 7th Trumpet. Much debate has raged over these two special prophets of God. Who are they?

Is one of the two Elijah?Some have argued very persuasively that one of the Two Witnesses must be Elijah. In Malachi 4:5 we have thisprophecy: ÒBehold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the com-ing of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.Ó

It is because of this prophecy that the Jewish people have long looked for Elijah to come, announcing the arrival of the Messiah. Many be-lieve this will happen during the time of the annual Passover feast. This is why every Passover meal has an extra place setting for Elijah, just in case he would appear.

During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Jewish people claimed to their Turkish occupiers that Elijah would soon come, entering through the Eastern Gate of the Temple Mount. The prospect of this scared the Turks of the Ottoman Empire so much that they had masons seal up the Eastern Gate. It is still sealed to this day. Oddly, the Turks had no idea that they were fulÞ lling an incredible prophecy in Ezekiel 44:1-3. The prophecy states that the Eastern Gate would be sealed, because the Lord had entered in by it. (Jesus fulÞ lled this prophecy when He entered through the Eastern Gate during His triumphal entry, one week before His cruciÞ xion.) The prophecy also states that it would not be opened again until He came back, entering through it again. The Eastern Gate stands sealed until this very moment, awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus. The Turks, in an attempt to prevent one prophecy from being fulÞ lled, unknowingly fulÞ lled another!

Back to MalachiÕs ÒI will send you Elijah before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.Ó Many of the Jewish people of the 1st Century puzzled over whether or not this man named Jesus was, in fact, the Messiah. He fed 5,000 with Þ ve loaves and two Þ sh. He raised the dead, walked on water, opened blind eyes...What more would Messiah do when He came?

One day the disciples came to Jesus asking, if you are Mes-siah, then where is Elijah? They knew the prophecy said that Eli-jah must come before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Jesus answered in Matthew 17:12-13: ÒBut I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that He spake unto them of John the Baptist.Ó So according to Jesus, the Elijah prophecy was fulÞ lled by the coming of John the Baptist.

Every person must dieMany have insisted that Elijah must be one of the Two Witnesses because he was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind and did not experience death. Hebrews 9:27 teaches that it is appointed unto men once to die. They contend that ElijahÕs required death will be accomplished when he dies as one of the Two Witnesses.

There is a glaring ß aw in this logic. Scripture teaches that the saved on earth at the time of the rapture will never see death. I Corinthians 15:51-54 tells us that we shall not all sleep (die), but that we shall all be changed from mortal to immortality at the last trump. Once we are immortal, we will certainly not be able to come back later and die. If we donÕt have to come back to die after the rapture, then Elijah cer-tainly doesnÕt have to come back and die either.Are they Moses and Elijah?Another reason many have thought Elijah would be one of the Two Witnesses is found in Matthew 17:1-3. It says, ÒAnd after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transÞ gured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment waswhite as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.Ó Here, on the Mount of TransÞ guration, both Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus.

Revelation 11:4 describes the Two Witnesses as Òthe two olive treesÓ and Òthe two candlesticks,Ó which stand before the God of the earth. Since Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus on the Mount of TransÞ guration, many have concluded that they are these Òtwo olive trees.Ó

Another factor that adds credence to the possibility is found by study-ing Revelation 11:5-6. In these verses we Þ nd the Two Witnesses per-forming the same miracles that Moses and Elijah were noted for during their ministries. If any man tries to hurt them, Þ re will proceed out of their mouths and devour their enemies. Remember that Elijah pulled down Þ re from heaven and devoured his enemies at one point. The Two Witnesses will have power to cause a drought for the 3 1/2 years of their ministry. Elijah had the power to do the same. They will have power to turn waters into blood. Moses did that in EgyptÑPlague #1. The Two Witnesses will have the power to smite the earth with all plagues. This again reminds of the ministry of Moses.Now for the problems with this view: The Bible states that Moses died and God buried him. If Moses were to be one of the Two Witnesses, he would have to be reincarnated and then die the second time. Elijah would also have to be reincarnated since by now he would be nearly 3,000 years old.

We donÕt have one example of reincarnation in the Bible. We also donÕt have any record where a person from a previous generation came back to earth to preach. These factors preclude, in my mind, the possibility of Moses and Elijah returning to earth as the Two Wit-nesses.

Do Two Witnesses symbolize Israel and the church?Another very prominent opinion states that the Two Witnesses repre-sent the Jewish and the Gentile church. This is not illogical since sym-bols are used prominently throughout the book of Revelation. Here is the reason some people believe this theory:

In Romans 11:24-25, the Apostle Paul refers to Israel as the tame olive tree and to the Gentiles as a wild olive tree. Revelation 11:4 says

the Two Witnesses are Òthe two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.Ó From these two passages it has been deduced that there would be, in the endtime, a Gentile church and a Jewish church witnessing in the earth. To some, this is quite a persuasive argument. However, the prophecy concerning the Two Witnesses calls them two prophets. It also says they will be killed and lie in the street for three and one-half days. I see no logical way that a nation or a church could be killed and lay in the streets. These two prophets will be two literal men.

ConclusionThe Two Witnesses of Revelation 11 will not be the Jewish and the Gentile church. They will not be Moses and Elijah reincarnated.

John the Baptist was not literally Elijah; yet Jesus said that he ful-Þ lled the Elijah prophecy because he came in the spirit and power of Elijah. Likewise, the Two Witnesses will be two ordinary people that apparently come in the spirit and power of Moses and Elijah. These two prophets are almost certainly alive on this earth right now, and are being prepared by God for the ministry for which they have been ordained.

The time for the revelation of the Antichrist and False Prophet is near. These two men will be SatanÕs two witnesses.

God has an answer for SatanÕs master plan. He will present His Two Witnesses to the world. They will preach the full truth of GodÕs Word for three and one half years. They will then die in Jerusalem. After 3 1/2 days, they will be resurrected and caught up into the sky.

Yes, SatanÕs messengers will deceive the world and corrupt the people of the world by their ß atteries. But, the people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits!
