Seller Insight This lovely home, which originally dates back to the 16th century, enjoys a coveted location in a very picturesque area on the edge of the thriving town of Redditch. “My partner bought the property back in 2000 and it was the fact

that everything about it is just so unique that attracted her to it,” says Andrew. “It forms part of an old mill complex, so the building itself is hugely characterful, and it sits in this lovely conservation area on the edge of Redditch, so the surroundings are leafy and green and incredibly private; it’s often hard to believe that we’re just a stone’s throw from the town centre.”

“A few years ago we decided to do a major refurbishment of the property, which has enhanced it no end. We added a gorgeous oak framed conservatory, which enables us to enjoy these lovely surroundings no matter what the weather; we completely opened up the kitchen and adjoining dining room to create a fabulous open plan kitchen/diner, which is now the real heart of the home, and we also had the cellar fully tanked so that it could be turned into a TV/music room, which is wired up with surround sound so it could also be a lovely little cinema room. The aim of the refurbishment was to make the house as a whole really suit our way of living, so that we could get more enjoyment from each space and also create a greater sense of synergy between inside and out, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.”

“The house now has a much better feeling of space and the layout makes sense in terms of modern living and flows really well. We gravitate to the conservatory when the sun is shining, and between it and the main living room are double doors that can be pushed back to create a fabulous space for a party; the kitchen is great for cosy dinners with friends, and the cellar is now a really great space to retreat to if you want to watch a bit of TV or listen to music. We also have a beautiful and very mature garden, which extends to around half an acre, which is a very peaceful place to sit and relax or again entertain friends. It’s a house that works so well on so many levels and we’re going to be really sad when the time comes to leave.”

“Our favourite room would have to be the conservatory,” says Andrew. “It’s lovely to just sit in there and soak in these gorgeous surroundings; it makes you feel as if you’re miles from anywhere.”

“We’re surrounded by some beautiful open countryside and there’s a lake just five minutes from the house, which is lovely to stroll around,” says Andrew, “However, we have all the convenience of being within striking distance of a thriving town, so this is a place where we’ve been able to enjoy the absolute best of both worlds.”

“The garden is a real standout feature of the property and it’s something that we’re really going to miss when we leave,” says Andrew. “It’s a vast space that’s mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by some magnificent trees. It’s totally private, incredibly peaceful and it creates such a stunning outlook.”

Moving upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom leading from the gallery landing. Laying in the north east of Worcestershire, Redditch was once the international centre for needle manufacturing, as well as the manufacturing of fishing tackle, springs and motorcycles. The town takes its name from the red soil of the River Arrow which runs through the town.
