1. Exporting from Apps
2. Using Email to backup
3. Backing up Photos
4. Using Edmodo to backup
5. Using a cloud storage system to backup
6. Using your Chesterton OneDrive to backup
You need to backup anything important to you on your iPad. Using a tablet
device is not the same as a PC and is not backed up automatically by our
servers.
Because you use many different Apps (some we don’t even know of) there
isn’t a single way to backup from each App. So please look through the
following pages and decide which would be best for the work in each App
and use that.
YOU CANNOT BACKUP AND RESTORE INFORMATION FROM iCLOUD. Please use
the following:
Export from APP
You will need to export or share the file you want to backup from the App you created it
in.
This is nearly always achieved by the export, share or Open in menu item
See screenshots below of examples how to do this in StripDesign, BookCreator and Puppet
Pals. Most apps allow you to do this. Once exported you will get an option of where to
export – via email, dropbox, onedrive, photostream etc – see next slides for what to do
next!
1. Backing up via Email
The easiest way to backup work is to email it to your self. In
any app if you see this icon click on it and you should
get the option to email it. Then just email it to your self.
Backing up your Photos
If you have photos you can set up a photo stream on iCloud which will back them up to the cloud.
Simply go to settings on your iPad – iCloud and then turn on the Photos option.
This means that any photos you take will be saved to your iCloudphotostream and you can view them / restore them to any other device.
You can login to www.icloud.com to check they are stored correctly
Many Apps will save your work to the photostream so its goodto back it up
This setting will only backup your photos after it is switched on. Itwill not backup any photos taken before this setting is switched on.
If you have photos on your device from before switching on photostream then you will need to email them or save to the cloud.
Using Edmodo to backup
You can upload files to your Edmodo
Backpack as a way of backing up
important files.
To do this open the App with the
piece of work you want to backup
and select the export or share button
– then choose to Open in Edmodo
Then select to save it to your
backpack in Edmodo – this is your
edmodo backup
Using a cloud storage system
to backup
You can upload files to your personal Cloud
storage system (like DropBox or
GoogleDrive) as a way of backing up
important files.
To do this open the App with the piece of
work you want to backup and select the
export or share button – then choose to
Open in DropBox
Using your Chesterton OneDrive to
backup
You can upload files to your Chesterton Cloud storage
system ONEDRIVE as a way of backing up important
files.
To do this open the App with the piece of work you
want to backup and select the export or share button
– then choose to Open in OneDrive
