The Northern Powerhouse Conference 2018 will launch the Northern Powerhouse Partnership’s Education
and Skills Report and debate each stage of the education and skills journey from early years to active ageing:
The Northern Powerhouse Conference 2018 will bring together key players from across the North to
collaborate and build consensus on how to bridge the productivity gap and deliver world-class education
and job opportunities across the North.

To boost productivity, the North must find ways tackle skills shortages and education failures.
Brexit, the Government’s Industrial Strategy, Metro Mayors and further devolution provide a
unique opportunity for the North to think differently and pull together behind a shared vision on
how best to improve life chances, achieve social mobility and deliver growth. The North needs to be
seen as a powerful and growing economy outside Europe.
This will be the first and biggest Northern Powerhouse Conference on Education and Skills.
