Introduction
Project Description:
The Nickel Royale property was the subject of a line cutting grid with a follow up magnetometer survey in March 2004. Work was performed on the Nicopor showing and surrounding area.
The base line was cut by James H Forbes and James B Forbes. The grid lines were cut by Joe and John Mackenzie, Jacques Cousineau and Dan Cambly.
The base line is 1.3 km long with grid lines at 50 meter intervals around the Nicopor showing and 100 meter intervals further away. Chaining was done at 25 meter intervals.
The grid lines were cut from L 600 W to L 700 E and total meters cut were 1 8.94 km. The base line was run at N 270 E.
The magnetometer survey was performed by James H Forbes with readings taken at 25 meter intervals.
The Nickel Royale is held by Novawest Resources Inc.
Geology;
The Nickel Royale is underlain by Archean rocks of the Wawa subprovince.
Geological mapping has identified:
-Tholeitic Basalts and Andesites- Mafic and Ultramafic intrusives- Felsic intrusives
A considerable amount of work has been performed around the Nicopor deposit approximately 5 km east of the grid
Location and Access:
The portion of the Nickel Royale Property where the work was performed is 6 km west of Schreiber on Highway 17 and 6 km north on the Winston Lake road. A drill road 5 km Northeast accesses the grid and goes right to the Nicopor trench.
Exploration Program;
Line Cutting; 20.24 km
Magnetometer Survey; 18.99 km
Results and Interpretation;
Magnetometer Survey;
A detailed grid with 50 metre to 100 metre line spacing and 25 metre station spacing was established in order to facilitate control for the current magnetic survey, future surveys and diamond drilling. The baseline was oriented at 027 degrees astronomic parallel to the apparent strike of the gabbro-hosted sulphide mineralization at the main showing located at BL 0+00.
Magnetic anomalies in the survey area generally trend west-southwest and show considerable magnetic relief ranging from about 54500 to 59500 gammas.
A series of magnetic highs ^58000 gammas) occur over an area of 900 x 600 metres across the central part of the grid. These anomalies likely outline the extent of individual mafic intrusives or areas of higher magnetics within a single gabbro body.
In the area of the main showing, magnetic response is highly variable. A distinct magnetic low occurs over the main showing. Erratic magnetic readings in the area of the showing resulted in data from several stations to be discarded. The magnetic low anomaly in this area is amoeboid and generally 'Y' shaped with a north trending magnetic low branching to the northwest and northeast at L50E 1+25S. This anomaly occurs over an area of about 300 x 300 metres. This anomaly may be the result of magnetite destruction (possibly sulphidization) within the gabbro or the expression of dipping or plunging magnetic dipoles. In any case, the correlation of these magnetic lows with known mineralization is considered significant and the extent of this anomaly and other similar anomalies should be considered highly prospective. Priority targets with magnetic response similar to that of the main showing include: L3+OOE 0+50S to L4+OOE 0+85S; LO+50E 0+75N; and LOE 5+OON to LO+50E 4+OON.
A series of magnetic high anomalies ^59000 gammas) are located over gabbro and potentially outline primary layering within the intrusion. This high magnetic response may indicate the presence of sulphide and/or oxide mineralization possibly associated with a cumulate horizon. Highest magnetic response occurs at the following locations: L1+50W 1+25N to 1+50N; L2+OOW 0+00, LO+50W 0+75S; Ll+OOW 1+75S; LO+50E 2+OOS; L2+OOE 2+50S; and L4+OOE 2+75S. Prospecting of these areas should be undertaken to identify related mineralization.
